I’m so happy you made this video and broke down the math on running a fridge and choosing the correct power bank/battery system to do so. I’ve been keeping my eye on this fridge since your first video on it, and now I need to figure out what I want to get to power it. Thanks Fletch for helping everyone out with your fantastic content!
I wish I lived closer to you so we can go camp!

Hey buddy, thank you! Glad it was helpful! This fridge is pretty sweet and I'm loving it. A dual battery may be a bit of overkill, but you can also get a 100AH battery for pretty cheap and throw it in a battery box and make that work for less than $300ish. I'm always down for camping, :D!

And if you cool it via 110 at home before use, you can get even more hours off the battery bank. Learned my lesson that way!!

      That's a good tip!

I don't have this particular fridge, but I always cool mine overnight at home before leaving on a trip. Then I run it on the 12V outlet in the car while in motion, and use a power station overnight when the vehicle isn't running.

Thanks. The watt hours vs amp hours helps alot. How many amps does it draw tops through the 12 volt cord/plug?

Good information. I have one of them on the way as I type this lol, pretty excited to get it,.I got so sick of having to drain a rotomolded cooler every day and have to make sure things are packed in watertight cases I don't want getting wet etc. I plan do do an auxiliary battery setup and keep it in the back of the cab.

Nice! I had my old fridge in the back seat of the second gen and it worked great. With the new truck and kids, I didn't want to lose the back seat, so I moved it to the bed and it's works well, but I can't wait to switch out my open bed rack for an enclosed cap at some point. That'll help keep everything clean and protected and then I'll be set.

@@AllThingsOverlanding funny you mentioned the hard topper. I have been trying to find one for the truck, it seems the selection we have in terms of overland/offroad options are extremely limited.

@@D41Mallcrawler check out the XO SKLTON from Xtrusion Overland. I’m running their bed rack and plan to switch out to the cap when it’s released this summer. Looks sweet. There will definitely be some videos in the future one I get my hands on one.

I would have liked to seen what your power station showed after running it 24 hours. How many watt hours it used. And what the level of your battery in the power station was after 24 hours

Yeah, valid. It's a little tough because I've got 200AH worth of house battery and 200W of solar kind of keeping it topped off all the time, so I can basically run it indefinitely. As it takes the power out over night, it tops back off when the sun comes up the next day.

Thanks for the video. How do you feel about the fridge after many months of use? Any complaints?

No problem! It's still doing great. Quiet, efficient, weather resistant and works great.

Have you dowloaded the GPS Track file from Back Country Discovery Routes website and upload it to nissan frontier 2023 pro4x navigation system? If you have, can you share how you did it. I have the file on a USB but nissan doesn't seem to see it.

Huh, good thinking. We had a guy in our group who was the lead on our last BDR trip but he used his Gaia on an iPad, not his stock headunit. Could you load the GPX file to your Gaia on your phone and then car play Gaia to your car to get around that?

Seems like a bad sign that the test started at different temps on each side.

    • @AllThingsOverlanding
      @AllThingsOverlanding  3 месяца назад

Not really. If you think about it, all dual zone fridges share one compressor. That's just how the fridge works. It cools one zone and then cools the other. That allows you to set both zones to different temps and then it cools as needed to bring both to the desired temp.
