Recently went to gui zhou package tour with his parents. Very humble family. Tried their bread. Taste Is nice and price also reasonable. Hope they will continue to progress. 传承新加坡的古早味。
There was once a bakery near my neighbourhood. I used to get my bread there. However when Swee Heng took over, the price shot up astronomically over the past 5 years. Everytime I walked past the bakery, the bread looks very tempting. However the price point is seemingly ridiculous for a bread. By buying 2 of the small bread, I would've been already able to afford 1 good hearty meal.
got 1 stall near my neighbourhood. is it really priced at affordability level? maybe when ask supplier to keep their profits low, ownself can also keep profits low? just find when I feel like eating bread will hop over to the nearest mall for the other brands, find it more value.
When l was 29 years old l have tasted their cake, bread and many others in Jurong branch in 1982, it was a small shop times passed that was 40 years ago, l am surprised they have expanded very well, congrats to them,Even at that time l saw boss and his wife serving at the shop personally, l supposed they must be quite old already, even myself is also old already 😊
Great local brand! Consider to learn and copy shamelessly from some of the global brand like brand promise & imaging, store decor, promotions, service engagement, families, community involvement, etc. As for cost management, do track daily usage and don’t be afraid to remove those items with very low product mix. Yes….Less is more! Keep it going and I am sure you are heading towards the right direction! 👍🙏
I don't exactly agree with everything the journalist is suggestive. it is very easy to say expand overseas. Questions to answer will be: 1) Is what you are offering wanted by customers in these countries? Food is something very cultural based. Your food taste from one country may not be very much accepted by another, and there are a multitude of factors. If you have tried Swee Heng baked pastries and bread - they are very local flavour. It may not be suited for taste palates of other countries. 2) What is the competition at the countries you are going to expand to. It may be difficult to compete especially if what you are offering is too identical to what the local competition has.
Unless I have no other choices, I'd grab one or two buns here.... not nice at all and expensive.... already can feel mass production.... PLEASE DO NOT MENTION WHAT TRADITIONAL BREAD!!!!! But, I won't even patronize breadtalk (expensive lousy bread + rude staff)
Swee heng bread is in the cheaper range but not really cheap. Those who know how to know to enjoy bread won't buy their bread. Bread taste dry worst than those gardenia or sunshine, fruits inside the sandwich contain like a chemical taste. Heard the bagel doesn't have the real bagel texture also.
Their breads are delicious, it's not cheap and they don't do discounts but much rather buy from them than breadtalk. Also breads like these are quite unhealthy so once in a while is fine
Their packaging is the worse especially the pandan layer cake and their prices have been climbing non- stop in the last 3 months while the fillings gave shrunken. Avoid them like plague these days.
What do u do about run a business? Have your ever run and own a successful business? You look more like the typical irritating keyboard warrior who pretend to be an expert and try to advise the real business practitioners?
I don't know about what others think. All I know is that Swee Heng has always been more honest in their approach to giving the best value to their customers instead of resorting to more fancy marketing ploys like many of its competitors just to gain market share. It's this down to earth honest approach that keeps me loyal to the brand all these years.
My sister says that compared to Japanese brand bread in singapore or Japan, swee heng quality and ingredients are lousy, and the price and value is not worthy..🤔🤫🫣
The journalist seems like she would be a great benefit to any business.

Swee Heng milk toast and sugar bread are my ultimate favourite bread choice
This journalist speaks so eloquently! Now I want bread…
They have improved their Swiss roll, it’s even softer and tastier now ( same price ❤)
Stopped buying ever since the steep price increase right after COVID. Ridiculous!! At least 35% increase!
idk about their breads but their crolo croissants are quite good! Hope to see more crolo outlets
nice bakery, jakarta also got one, called suisse bakery, till this day still standing, since 1978, only 1 store.
The only brand I do not buy is BreadTalk! Price is ridiculous!
Getting expensive. Starting to shun a bit.
Their bread if u notice they don’t discount near to closing…hope they donate or don’t sell the next day
Sedap rotinya.roti kelapa.dan lain lain.mantul👍👍👍👍👍
Sadly, price already increased.
Since theres a market, im building one call “Kedai Roti”.. A muslim malay owned brand for the community.. ✌🏼
So expensive these days, I straight gave up when I see this brand
Can consider expanding into Malaysia market 👍😊

Heard from their staff that they pay their staffs peanuts and always trying to shortchange their bonuses with funny arrangements.

Too expensive these days.

面包选择很多很可惜他们店是清真的,没能卖猪肉午餐肉面包。
Definitely can’t thrive if the Pasir Ris interchange outlet keeps having birds coming into the store as “customers” 🤢🤢

240, 000 K in 1989? thats humble for Singaporean standards? haha. thats a lot of money back then,
They offer low quality stuffs. Many from malaysia. 4 leaves better. Why a video report about them. They are not well known bakery. Funny. 😅
Expensive and low quality taste bread. Price keep increasing with your expansion ambition. You tell us you're trying to keep cost low. Lol.
Agree, if the fresh milk of higher grade the breads churns out smells nicer
Cannot! Doomed to failed.
You are a karen

Jealously and hypocrisy are the worst defaults of human beings.
The entire article is about keeping down the costs and prices, and expansion - and all you can say is doomed to fail? That's a very nasty comment!

Swee Heng Bakery is too sweet for me. I like BreadTalk better
