What’s behind the rise of million-dollar discontinued HDB properties?

- In recent months, the public housing market has seen a surge in million-dollar homes. But surprisingly, discontinued HDB properties such as terrace houses, executive maisonettes and DBSS flats are also joining the bandwagon despite their decaying leases.
Why do they still appeal to homebuyers? Are they truly worth the hefty price tags?

Tengah HDB design is worst than 1970 HDB. Beams and column everywhere so visible. Garden vale especially
Apparently designed by a certain reputable local firm haha
The fact that there is already an excessive amount of demand awaiting its absorption, despite how everyone is frightened and calling the crash, is another reason why it is less likely to occur that way. 2008 saw no one, at least not the broad public, making this forecast, as I'll explain below. The ownership rate was noted to have peaked in 2004 in the other comment. Having previously peaked in the second quarter of 2020, we are currently at the median level. Between 2008 and 2012, it dropped by 3%, and by the second quarter of 2020, it had dropped from 68 to 65.
Investing in both real estate and stocks can be prudent choices, particularly when backed by a robust trading strategy that can navigate you through prosperous periods.
You're not doing anything wrong; the problem is that you don't have the knowledge needed to succeed in a challenging market. Only highly qualified professionals who had to experience the 2008 financial crisis could hope to earn a high salary in these challenging conditions.
@@hasede-lg9hj Recently, I've been considering the possibility of speaking with consultants. I need guidance because I'm an adult, but I'm not sure if their services would be all that helpful.

There are many financial coaches who excel in their profession, but for the time being, I employ Annette Marie Holt because I adore her methods. You can make research and find out more.
Funny, around a decade ago, Singaporeans were complaining about falling hdb prices
you see singaporeans always complain. price rise complain. price drop complain. price rise too slow complain. price rise too fast complain. price stagnate also complain. really complain king and queens
@@junjun906 Why you talk about yourself like that? :)
@@focus168168😂 hahaha but is true mah. We complain abt everything. Haha
Endless landslide victories👀
@@junjun906different group of people complaining 😂 not the same ones….😂
HDB has become extremely UNAFFORDABLE!!!!! Only those selling their HDBs, the rich (those who lack empathy for the struggles of the average Singaporean, not all) and real estate agents will say they're cheap!!
Investigation should be carried out against the Lender Bank + Buyer for Money Laundering / Tax Cheats (Unfair to all Taxpayers)
Looks like musical chair to me. Everyone wants to get on the musical chair but does not want to be the last to sit on it.
There are newer Masionette in Woodlands and Sengkang which are the last batch built in 1999
People with the means will pay for what they like no matter what. Lucky you, if your HDB is desired by one of these spenders.
Property prices have increased partly due to disruption caused by COVID-19.
Going forward, I am not sure if this is sustainable.
Not a government mouthpiece, says someone from BT
It's good to have money. Lots of it. No joke.
Cease enbloc, SRS, let decaying lease goes straight to zero value, I'm sure people will evaluate the price of a HDB again.
people are either too rich or stupid. to pay 1.5 M for 30 year remaining units
Dude, those are private home downgrader with multi millions in their bank…
Money laundering la ... what else?
Pls lah amenities like hawker centres & shopping centres are everywhere no need pay over S$1M for still HDB flat whatever fancy title like DBSS etc lol 😂
One thing for sure, it has absolutely nothing to do with policies. 👀
HDB BTO.....A BIG BIG 99 YEAR LEASE HEADACHES.....30 YEAR LEASE👍👍👍👍👍
Ser jackpot is only 6%
Goin to get better & better but smaller & smaller. Ill rather bigger but no need better🤣
💚
So morale of the story is that it will be a 1 million expense?
60% foreigners
HDB never sell any flats ! they only lease out flats $$$$$$$$
its not lease if u own the economic benefits of the property. you can choose to sell or rent out the property. moreover, what do you expect? what is there to complain about? it is not as if HDB was a freehold property and then changed to 99 years after that. Do you see ppl complain about buying a 99yr lease hold condo? You buy with ur eye open and you sign up for the deal.
My wife and I compared what you said against renting. I can tell you renting is WAYYYY more expensive. So stop complaining and be thankful
The journalist on camera needs to learn how to speak naturally and enunciate clearly. Really hard not to get distracted by the multiple attempts at a cringey fake half-American accent and lapses into the flaccidness in the tone and enunciation of syllables. E.g. just say "dollars"like Singaporeans say it, not "da-llers".
The Malay-accented voice narrating in the background is a positive example to learn from.
Fairytales
You really ought to be able to pronounce "these" if you're going to host a news show.
Nth wrong from their pronunciation 🤷♂️
I don’t see it as a jarring mistake. And I’m an English teacher. The reporter has weaker enunciation but is still bearable to listen to. My grievance is more on Ry-Anne Lim (the journalist being interviewed). She sounds pitchy and grating. My ears really couldn’t take it.
@@ABC-ed8cg and a poor fake half-American accent. Yikes.
How do you tell the houses at 1:10 apart from landed houses? Is it just based on the prominent block number? Ry-Anne Lim (the journalist) being interviewed sounds very pitchy. Such grating and piercing voices can lead to listener fatigue. I couldn’t continue listening to her halfway. I can’t stand listening to such voices for seconds, let alone hours. She should learn to speak at a lower register.
The issue is that it is an OPEN MARKET SYSTEM THAT SAYS PEOPLE CAN SELL MILLION of DOLLAR WHY I CANNOT. So this million keep popping up. In the end it will be an EXPECTATIONS OF HOMEOWNERS AND WITH GREED IN MIND IT WILL BE A BIG NATIONAL PROBLEM. It is humans that made this and will pay heavily for it's consequences for younger generations😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
