One tip I’d like to add when using any type of wheel cleaner like iron x is clean the wheels with regular ( cheap ) car shampoo first . It removes a big chunk of muck and therefore you don’t need to use much of the expensive iron x type stuff.
I just found out from Mike Phillips that Gyeon is pronounced "G-On". Iron removers in my opinion work great. All of them do the same thing. Ferrex actually does doubly duty as Yvan and Dr. G have mentioned that it removes tar as well. Ironx works well. McKee's 37 Iron remover works well and does not smell as bad as the others. It's more of a gel. My preference is either Ironx or Ferrex. These two seem to work better.
I have always used Iron X but tried a small bottle Adam's Iron remover and seemed to work well and is also half the price of Iron X. Has anyone else used Adam's?
I recommend Griot's Iron/ Fallout remover. In the last 2 years I have flip flopped from IronX and the Ferrex brands and then I saw Griot's on the Detailed Image about 6 months ago for around $60 a gallon. It does take a little longer to see the purple reaction but it is more of a gel consistency so it sits longer and doesn't just run down the side right away. You probably didn't have to use so much on the rims in my experience with the Ferrex at least. I do also scrub the rims and tires at the same time. I will also spray half the car with Griots then let it react then foam it and wash mitt it.
Heads up bro, these product do not work as well as we think. Do the plastic bag test on the dry paint once you used the fallout remover , you will be surprised how much crap is still on the paint. Also claying is a must, and oyu must take your time claying, these products wil not do the job 100% alone, unless you want to waste a lot of money on the bottles. Putting these products and just rinsing with water will not eliminate a lot of the iron.
Can not do front to back. Fronts will have more iron. 2nd. You did not shake the Geyon bottle. Could make a difference in the sticking you were talking about. Make sure both tests are the same. You did not so this means nothing.
You'd use way less with an ik foam sprayer. Same results. Also, if you don't clay behind using the iron remover...you didn't really do much. They remove the oxizidized crust from the iron contamination but not necessarily removing the containment.
james dempsey this is actually incorrect, the sodium glycolic acid actually speeds up the oxidation of the iron oxide, basically forcing the rust to completely oxidize very quickly.
Hey Jimbo another good iron remover/wheel cleaner I have heard is an option from nanolex. you can get 1000ml for 30 bucks from detailers domain. It Would probably be a more cost efficient option to try out.
The front of the car and just behind the rear bar will have most of the dirt and brake residue ie: the front gets it from the cars driving in front of you and the rear is the residue from your own cars brakes dust. :)
I use Iron-X from CarPro, it also smells very bad and it also has a bad sprayer. In terms of cost, I think it's about the same, last bottle I purchased was 1L (about 32 ounces) and I believe I paid 40 CAN$ for it. I try to use it only when really necessary at that price, I would rather spend a few minutes doing a claybar (I use Clay Sponges actually) while washing the car.
Iron removers are great they can cut the time down by a lot but do bring the cost up being used outside on a windy day sucks cause it can dry the product out and being that it is sprayed on money mists away in the air literally what iv done is i buy the car pro line of products I use a mix of iron x snow soap iron x concentrate paste and iron x itself mixed with "distilled" water in a pressurized kwazar Venus pro sprayer I use this as my wheel cleaner and then I use it on the paint after washing and rinsing i spray on as soon as I'm done going around I go straight into clay or Nano skin depending if its getting corrected or not with soapy water for extra lube rinse it well and go on to your next step btw auto finesse iron out was my go to but they only sell that on amazon or eBay it's cheaper but they get you on the shipping coming from the U.K. What happened to the acid test comparison ?
Sorry even a low HF aqueous solution is toxic. Why in the world use such a destructive product on your wheels? Unless you run on new asphalt roads before they cure or are off road all the time. Soap and water works just fine particularly if you have treated your wheels with ceramic coating.
I use Meguiar's Ultimate All Wheel Cleaner which works well for the price. However, last time I used it I used half the bottle and now that I have watched your video I'm very concerned about long term use of this and other products which we breathe in and decontaminate our skins. These products might work well on our vehicles but who knows what they are doing to our bodies. Please wear protection.
Most amateurish comparison I've ever seen. You didn't measure or even try to balance the amount of solvents used. Also, when doing the wheels, you compared a front wheel to a back wheel, which obviously will have very different amount of brake dust on them. Then top it all off, you did not attempt to compare the results by any scientific or measurable means. What was the point of doing this video?
Gábor Bérczi - for seeming how smart your comment seems you must have really bad hearing. I stated this was a basic review and also noted I was comparing front to back. If you want a chemist to explain the solvents and scientific measuring go do your own research and do a video on it. Most people want to hear real world experiences. Not bullshit science lab notes.
Gabor didn't waste his time by writing a comment. He made a very good point, and one you should take note of if you're going to call yourself a detailer, and care about the videos you put on show to the public.
Your pronouncing Gyeon wrong but that is ok. But you using way to much. I can get two to three car out of one bottle of Gyeon iron. It's great and I always use it as one of my products for contaminating the cars I do bufore two stage and or single.
Tip: Hose down your driveway before using these iron removers, it’ll prevent staining. I learned the hard way..

Pronounce : Geejon.
What happens when you spray that product on a clean car?
Both look like they work pretty well

Sils Detailing - I have. It worked very well and doesn’t smell as bad as most of the other iron removers
Besides the price, the scent alone makes me want to use it more.

Cheap iron remover alternatives, any ideas?
Where are you located?
Meguiars Ultimate All Wheel Cleaner. It’s $9 for 24oz, I believe. I use it personally. Works well on paint too.
Meguiars Mirror Bright. $9/bottle.
Dinowax serum prep

I love going to the store for lunch after just applying iron remover! 🤢 prolly what ppl think when I walk pass and they get a whiff of me.

3D bdx is a good one if you get a chance to try it out . The smell well ..... you know what to expect

Calendyr 👍🏻👍🏻 i found the carpro and Gyeon works and smells pretty much identical. I grab whatever I can get cheaper in the 4L 😀
You must clean the wheels first with a quality soap. As a last step you spray on the iron remover. Grtz
GTechniq can be diluted 1 to 1 with distilled water and it works just as good as both of those.
Bad comparison front to back 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️

Criticism is something you should use to better yourself, not something to fight against.
