Same thing happened with my ankle. First doctor said it was just a sprain. Had to end up going to an orthopedic surgeon who diagnosed the fracture. Was my growth plate Heal up man!
EXACT same thing happened to my Left Scaphoid in 2019 on a downhill mountain bike crash, unlike you that was the only injury that I accrued, being the tough idiot that I was at the time (19 years old) I trusted the doctors and was just happy to hear that I could continue riding. Raced State Championships the following week with a brace on the wrist and proceeded to complete a full MX season which lasted six months. Kept trusting the doctors and wasn't able to get another X-ray until 6 MONTHS later. They told me the same thing, "bone is dead, need to do a graft and screw". I had to be in and out of a cast for 2 YEARS because they kept allowing my idiot self to get back on the bike when the wrist wasn't ready. Since then I've been dramatically more careful and ALWAYS listen to my body as opposed to a doctor (I absolutely knew it snapped when I went down and was broken the whole time, hit the ground enough times in my life before that to know what is, and is not broken), the only reason I still have use of the wrist is because my young body was able to heal it, glad I learned young.
Jeeze, yeah that's pretty simar to mine. I'm hoping the bone is still alive but it's been since the beginning of September.. I had plans to get back on the bike around April/May but it's looking like it may be a little longer than that unfortunately. Yeah I hear that, I still think I'm young and dumb, and want to jump back to it asap, but I'll know enough to let it heal before I make things worse.
@@redwolfracing The Surgery wasn't bad, I have graft and permanent Titanium. If it gives you any confidence the doctors were adamant that the bone would not heal, which they were correct about for a period of time. However, after long enough there was an experimental treatment offered to me because of the lack of improvement in a last ditch effort, which did in fact work. It was a non-invasive device that sent some kind of frequency to the bone to induce healing, I still have the device in storage somewhere and if you're healing isn't going well (which I don't think will be the case for you, you are WAY earlier along by the time you've caught it so in theory your chances of healing are in fact higher than mine were, the only thing I had going for me was that I was younger at the time of the injury.) then respond to this comment with such news, or if you're interested I can look tonight and come back with the info on what the device is so that you can do your own research and potentially use it during your healing process.
@@redwolfracing On top of all that I was also able to join the Army with no waiver because a doctor later down the road felt so confident in my healed bone that he wrote it off, I was also allowed into airborne school (which has a strict "No metal in bones" policy) and complete it as well as all of my other training with no complications.
@@redwolfracing I have never regained full range of motion and never will but it does not cause me pain or effect my physical performance in any way, I am back to lifting (including bench) and racing with no effect on my output. You're gonna be just fine.
Yeah, unfortunately where I live there is like no where to ride in the woods without getting in trouble. But yeah once I'm 30 I'll be in the vet class if I continue to race the series.
From one older racer to another, I totally understand and agree with you. Heal up and we'll see you on the trails 👍
For sure 🤙

Yeah sometimes it better to get a second opinion. Glad they caught it for ya. And thank you!
Riders safety meetings help a little bit. Sometimes you just have to school I'm on the track.

How was the surgery for that with the donor piece of bone?

New bike cover looks nice, I like the red
Thanks!
did you say you have video footage of incident.....why not show it?
I just didn't want to, I debated it, but I don't want anyone to go attacking the kid, his number and last name are shown in the video.
Blur his name and post it brother!!!! You can't let amazing footage like that go to waste.. or just post it anyway!!!
Look up the race results and see if you can remember his number and you should find a name and lawyer up
We’re riding together this year heal up bud lol
Hell yeah man!! I'll be ready!
I might know a guy that knows more about track than woods ✌
Maybe do some gate drops with me this year 👀
@@redwolfracing I'd say theres a chance
Ride woods or do practices then once your 30+ your straight
