  • Yamaha unveiled the 2024 Yamaha YZ250F to the media today and gave us the full technical rundown on the all-new machine. While the bike is super cool and we cannot wait to ride it next week, we were more excited to chat with The Beast From The East, Damon Bradshaw! We talked about a ton of stuff, from his career-long rivalry with Jeff "Chicken" Matiasevich, to the dark night in 1992 when he lost the 250 Supercross Championship to Jeff Stanton...

I have a Damon Bradshaw story...So 1988...i just started racing and i lived next to the Hangtown national track, like almost my backyard. We didn't have social media, so you would read about your hero's in magazines, and i was dead set on meeting Damon. This was box van time so you could just cruise the pits and just meet pro's up close. I go up and talk to him and a few others like Ward and RJ. Damon and i sat on the tail of his box van and talked for an hour straight. I think he noticed my southern accent, since i had just moved to California. Never a "i need to go" or "send off with an autograph". The guy acted so humble and was so genuine, nicest guy ever to some strange kid bugging him at a race. He signed a jean jacket i had on....which is hilarious but hey it was the 80's. I still have it and i like to think he was the reason i went on to race until i was a pro am in the mid 90's. The way he talks to Swap here is the same way he talked to me, never had to, just a real professional always with his heart on his sleeve. He is as tough as they get and never let the fame change who he was as a person. He was never better than you...but he was better than you...I am still a fan in my 40's and I will always respect and remember that day. 💪😎

Been a fan of Damon since he was on 80's, still a fan now. In his prime he had more personality than all the other top guys combined, and that made it super easy to root for him on. Glad to see he's doing well and still around the industry.

Bradshaw grew up 2 minutes from my house on Freedom Dr growing up and was my idol as a kid. He was a Beast for sure and always hung it out.
I remember the one that was maybe LA Coliseum where he was racing JMB maybe and got hucklebucked off in whoops on last lap dragging for 4 whoops or so on side of bike, kept it upright somehow climbed back on while still pinned and still won

D Bradshaw! What a legend. One of the absolute best races I've ever seen in my life was him in Miami SX. Went down in first corner passed everyone then crashed again. Passed them again to win the main. My voice was gone from screaming so loud.

The Beast from the East!!! Saw this guy race hangtown as a kid who was racing 60s at the time… nobody sent it harder/faster in every turn and over every jump. In practice it made everyone stop and watch him; other guys were pointing out his lines and then went out and tried to follow them but couldn’t make most of them work.

Back then I bought that new Shoei Helmet and gave it to someone asking for a 1:1 Damon/Troy Lee design paint job. Now 31 years later I bought a 250 street bike just for driving around and short cutting traffic and I remembered that helmet and using it day in day out now. I love that design and Damon is a true character in our sport obviously.

When people think about Damon Bradshaw and L.A. Coliseum, they think about '92. Well there's another Bradshaw memory at L.A. and that was 1990. He won his fifth supercross of the year (and career) against a very fast Jean-Michel Bayle. That was a very exciting finish. He was half off the bike as he crossed the line ahead of Bayle. I still believe that if Damon had managed to keep his form from '92 and carried it to '93, he would have given McGrath a very, very difficult time.

Damon is a beauty and the reason I got into dirt bikes as a young kid. Glad he’s still a part of the industry and is always a fan favourite, and for good reason. Great interview. Thanks Donn!

I remember a point in time when Damon on a white/red 1988 yz 250 was on fire in a sx round, not sure of that track but he was leading the pack when he lands in off a jump in to an immediate left then all of a sudden slows down ( jet and ken style ) second and third go through then the beast is back on the gas chasing them ? Weather it was bike related problem or just super confidence, enthusiasm and that natural young ego that showsoff by letting you pass by, for half a lap before he roosts by again, super confidence like bubba super talent, 👌 all good , uk

Good Interview 🔥…I can Totally Sympathize with Damon when he was talking about how EverybodyLoved Him During the Championship-then just Basically Ignored Him after he Lost it on that last Race…I Love Moto but it’s Crap like That that make Moto & People like That just SUCK….if People Act like That then My Attitude is…”Let’s See YOU Go Do It Then !…Put Your Money where Your Mouth Is !”…I Liked Damon but Unfortunately I got Hurt Back Then & took about a 10 year Break form Moto because in 89-90 to 98 Moto got Real Cheesy & Glammed Out & I Hated It….But I Still to This Day have a Pic of Damon at Daytona from Back in the Early 90s….I Also Definitely remember that Wall Jump Don was talking about…Especially how Damon’s Back Tire looked Flat because He Hit that Jump HARD🦾
