This show really is fantastic and just SO powerful. Just count yourselves lucky that you get to watch two episodes at a time from week to week. I remember watching it every Thursday night as the episodes were released, getting a full week between each and every cliffhanger!

Here's what I will say about John. He is damaged goods from trauma caused by being a war vet a few times over. Seeing the things that he seen seeps into your brain and becomes part of your dna. The traumatic experiences in his brain, mixed with that serum caused a volatile reaction. Sam is a rare case. Him being a counselor probably helped that he already knows the tools to work through that. . Tony went through PTSD after New York's battle, which we saw in Ironman 3. Each person reacts differently once something traumatic happens to them. John was wrong for killing that guy.... And yet, I had to think about that too. Yes. They killed Lemar by accident, but they were all there to murder Walker and parade his body to the world in order to make a statement. How much sympathy is that guy owed? He knew, as a super soldier, that he and the others could kill Walker easier, and was still willing to help kill him. Walker would have been dead if he didn't take that serum and his reflexes didn't get faster. That guy threw that blade at his throat with such force that the blade was stuck in to the handle. Steve had a pure heart, but he got the serum before seeing battle. So maybe it would have made him harder or more aggressive, or maybe just like he turned out. We'll never know. Walker tried several times to connect with Sam and Bucky, and they rejected him. I would get tired of getting the cold shoulder every time I tried to extend and olive branch too. Because he wasn't Steve in the suit, they instantly treated him like trash. He wasn't some random guy picked right out of basic training, like Steve. He earned his title and served time in war...which annoyed me that both Sam and Bucky couldn't respect him as a fellow veteran soldier... (especially Bucky). Walker had to deal with: no cooperation from Sam and Bucky while they undermined his job, an escaped Zemo on his watch, a group who has now bumped themselves into terrorists, and pressure from the American government to show some results and make them look good to the world....he is carrying a lot on his shoulders. Now his best friend from childhood, and who he's survived several war tours with, was just murdered in front of him, for him. Yeah...there was no way he wasn't going to short fuse. Notice his head ticks when he was attacked with the blade? Notice his hand shaking after he bludgeoned that guy and stood there holding the shield? That was the effects of the serum. He was also in an alert adrenaline state because of the attack. It's like the serum is definitely messing with his mind. Add that plus: alpha testosterone, ptsd (of which the government seemed less concerned about his mental health, coming back from war, than using him like they first used Steve), media pressure, and the fresh murder of his best friend. Mix all that together and you've got a powder keg waiting to blow up. One could say the same about Karli. She is an angry displaced young woman who took the serum. All that anger built up in her and she is now obsessed with getting her way, no matter what it takes. Karli is leading her people to hell for doing extreme things, like murder. Sam was getting through to her, but when do you give the same thought to Walker? Walker is trying to be "the man with the plan", like Steve was, because it's the same dog and pony show as the military used to make Steve do, til he disobeyed the government and made a house hold name for himself by becoming a real hero. Karli is young, but old enough to know how to make the right choice. The speech Sam gave to Zemo about blood shed not being the answer is also exactly what he should have said to Karli. I guess either way, she wasn't going to listen to him, because she was determined to carry out her desperate agenda. Doing evil in the name of justice or good is more sinister than just being pure evil, because you fool yourself. Walker does need to learn that there are more heroes on the board now. The world outside of the U.S. don't really care about him....a lot in the U.S. feel the same. To him, maybe this was just another war he was fighting and that guy was no different than a war criminal. It's still a tragedy that the serum screwed with an already messed up mind. Idt John is "Red Skull" evil....just as I said before, "damaged goods" that went too far on one of his attempted murderers. ...Almost like he and Karli are two sides of the same coin. Both have good agendas, just wrong executions of it. Also, I felt bad for poor Wyatt Russell because there were marvel fans who could not differentiate between him and his character for NOT being Steve Rogers. He had to shut down his social media sites because of toxic comments and death threats. The hashtag line "Not my cap" was trending for a while.

I love Wyatt and I'm so sorry that he had to deal with fans' hate, because he seems so sweet and humble in real life. I don't want to defend Bucky and Sam (even though I love Bucky, he's my favourite Marvel hero❤) but I think they were constantly giving him the cold shoulder because they knew at the end of the day John worked for the government and they knew they could never trust the government. They even told him that he and Lemar had rules and laws to follow unlike them who are like free agents. I love how they showed us John with his wife and Lemar before he was paraded as Captain America because it showed how contemplative he was of taking/accepting the mantle and that he was actually worried about it. Also when Bucky said "the serum never corrupted Steve" I really wished someone (Sam) would've said "it didn't corrupt you either", because it didn't. Bucky was brainwiped and tortured by HYDRA, and forced to kill, but the serum never corrupted him. Also I've seen fans talk about how exactly the serum corrupted even Steve and I don't remember their reasons, but I agree with them.
Madripoor is big time corrupt place in the comics.. ruled by a shady underworld. Wolverine spent some time there off the radar and I believe on of the versions of the Hulk did as well

In Civil War he's an intelligent family man trying to break up the Avengers out of revenge for them accidentally killing his family in Sokovia. He didn't even seem like a criminal, just a Dad/Husband mourning his family and doing what he felt he needed to. Here, he's like a well-connected, filthy rich leader of an underground crime syndicate. It's not to say he wasn't this person in Civil War, but his motivations based on background feel like a stark contrast from one another.
