  • The Ruger MK II is a rimfire single-action semi-automatic pistol chambered in .22 Long Rifle and manufactured by Sturm, Ruger & Company. Ruger rimfire pistols are some of the most popular handguns made, with over three million sold.
The MK II ("Mark Two") was made from 1982 to 2005. Previous models include the Standard, Ruger's first model, made from 1949 to 1982, and the MK I Target, made from 1951 to 1982. MK II variations include the Target models, which have heavier barrels and adjustable sights, and the 22/45 models, which have a polymer frame with a grip-angle that matches the Colt 1911 rather than the steel frame's Luger P08-like layout. The MK II was removed from production in 2004, when it was replaced by the MK III. All Ruger rimfire pistols are chambered in .22 Long Rifle only.

Lovely, but you didn’t show the flipping it upside down, trigger pulls and all the other complicated stuff that’s needed to put it back together!

The front sight is incorrect for the Mark II. At least, it doesn't match mine. Also, reassembly of the mainspring requires a good deal more manipulation than is shown here.

As I was reassembling my Mark II the video shows a spring that hooks to a pin just rear of the trigger housing. Mine doesn't have that spring and never did.

this is great and it was a giant hassle getting the mechanism w/ pin back in place.
Afterward something is distinctly different though:
When I rack the slide when on safety it feels normal.
When I rack slide to cock the trigger when on fire it is like 3x harder to pull back. but once trigger is cocked then it feels normal. Pull the trigger THEN rack the slide again, same thing: super hard to pull back.
Is there a certain config the internals need to be in when you reattach the back mechanism that holds slide in place/affects slide release? thanks for info

Did you ever fix that problem because I’m going through it as well?

      @@mr.unknownidk5946 Sorry, but no I haven't.
[Makes note to self about troubleshooting it finally].
I will note that I've probably put 200-300 rounds through it since, and the only issue I have is the usual failure to eject on the most low-end ammo (Aguila Super Extra .22lr). Otherwise it fires everything else my other .22 does have issue with.
I'll update once I do get it fixed. Maybe make a video about it (I've been meaning to post vids like this on a channel).
      GL in fixing it.

I didn't have the takedown tool and was forced to use a paperclip.
Straight it out, bend one end into a U-shaped hook, then wrap the rest of the straight part around the shaft of a screwdriver. Use the hook on the latch and use the screwdriver for leverage to pull it down. Then use a wide mouth pliers and pull that latch outwards.

Definitely NOT a military-pattern pistol. It has too many screws that might get loose while being used on battlefield...That's why military gun assembly parts rely rather on pins than screws...I wonder if there are any construction differences between this and AWC Amphibian II, which is milspec pistol...

Don’t try taking apart your Mark 2 unless you are expert in that, tricky, tricky. I have mine cleaned by a professional gunsmith, it’s not expensive and your firearm will be protected.
