    Dan, just found you, I’m still learning and I’m an old guy in my 60’s thanks for taking the time to share your talent. It’s much appreciated. I have a question. To avoid the pencil shine in the dark shadows I have been using charcoal more and more, but I want to get back to the subtlety of graphite. Is just about the amount of pressure, and do you mix charcoal with pencil?
    Keep up the excellent work Dan.

    You have a knack for drawing details with a pencil and surely a lot of patience. Your works are wonderful! But I'll probably only focus on a few major features of the face and use charcoal and a kneaded eraser for shading. Thanks for sharing!

    Your video gave me many inspiring insights. One is, that I can think more like when I draw with inkpen!
    I never really got a good hand with pencil, even though I loved drawing with them since childhood.
    I always drew in a very messy way, and never figured out when and how to apply shading.
    While that ad hoc way sure has its charm and personality, I think I now can give my pencil drawings a long missed quality boost,
    I look forward to enjoying drawing with pencil a lot more!
    A most heartfelt thank you Dan!
    I also think the added footage at the end was a great idea and very helpful!

    great art, it would be really helpful to share with us the thinking process of how y analyse the light on the form (based on the light on sphere concept) core-shadow, mid tones, and how you apply that concept on human form, face, organic form,
    on a simple sphere core-shadow is easy to be predicted and how it is wrapping around the sphere, but on organic form is more complicated to predict where that core-shadow terminates especially when it is getting mixed with shadows and darker mid-tones, would be also gr8 if y recommend a book also

    I do not have enough years left to learn this skin texture process, but I think I have a great idea that will simplify this process. Could you carve into a piece of soft rubber mat like the mats used for print making and use it like a texture sheet? Depending on the softness of the pencil and the pressure applied, it could be used for most all of the skin you are drawing.

    What was your technique for getting the outline drawing accurate?

    • @DanBeardshaw
      @DanBeardshaw  6 лет назад +15

      Robert I eyeballed most of that, the footage then was speeded up x3000 so it might seem really easy but it took a long to of looking back and forth from the reference, I also adjusted a lot.

    • @RobertF-
      @RobertF- 6 лет назад +4

      Hey Dan, ok thanks. Yeah it looked really easy where you just threw down immediate lines that were correct right from the get go, and I was wondering what the process was. But, I guess there was some erasing that wasn't picked up in the sped up footage? And it seems you were drawing 1:1 sight size?
      Anyway, really cool channel and video. Peace.
