I'm an artist under 13 years and I have been teaching myself how to draw, as well as watching youtube videos about art. This video has been very helpful to me. I started a drawing a few months ago and I left it aside ...got angry 'cause I wasn't good to draw freckles(trying to draw my little nephew).He's got many freckles on his cute face and didn't know how to draw them so now observing and listening to this video I'm almost sure (after practicing) to be able to draw more realistic freckles. I need help with something. How do you make proportions so accurate without the scale and measurements? I'm kind of struggling at that, but your videos have been so helpful for me
I get the photo i'm drawing, place it over a bright screen and place the paper I'm drawing on over the photo. I trace the outline of mouth, nose, eyes and face shape. Do this every time you draw, and eventually you'll be able to do it without tracing. It's not cheating, because it takes serious amount of skill to turn an outline into a portrait, so don't worry. :)
Using the grid method
Chasity Hensley I said "without scale and measurements" unless you mean grid for practise

@@aaAa-bp1yd most accuracy comes with scale and measurement its how you know you are getting things to the correct proportion. If you don't want to use that study anatomy and look up methods like the Loomis method.

You have such fine, smooth and stable hand movement, that's sooo hard! Do you have hand exercises to achieve that? Or it just came naturally as you learned to draw?
It's the way she holds the pencil. You can see at 0:50 the way she holds it. I naturally hold mine like that and it does give me stable movement
@@liambrunner3026 everyone has his own grip it doesn't matter
Try to rest your wrist down on a piece of paper as you draw. You can rest your hand on it to prevent smudging also. Also try holding the pencil in various spots of the pencil to find where you are least shaky at. Open and close your hands, move your fingers and wrist to exercise them a bit.
Try using soothing music/sounds in the background.
