- Hello I'm Jennifer Shi, here's the 2nd year film, Swallowtail, about a tailor that's looking to help a bride in an arranged marriage. I've been working this for a few months so I hope you enjoy!

I love how the tailor says how the dress was made FOR her, no one else and just like the dress is for her so is her own life
the dress was made for her yet it hurts to wear,
like her life.
Si el vestido se hizo para ella, ella puede hacer con él lo que quiera, lo puede usar, destruir, modificar, tirar, regalar, al igual que su vida, ella puede vivir su vida como desee, es difícil pero es SU vida y no debería de vivir para otros, ni siquiera para sus padres. ( En caso que se pregunten como puede regalar su vida, ella puede elegir ser donante de corazón, por ejemplo, si llega a tener un accidente fatal o cáncer y decida no realizar un tratamiento largo y doloroso y donar )
omg i was so scared that the tailor was gonna cut her flight feathers in some twisted ending -glad that didn’t happen!!

@@LucyFerr000 That's the price when we help others. If we take that part of "she helps someone and must get punish by others" in our context, it's equal to from helping black slaves fleed, giving jewish people refugee, or in the most simplest manner would be plot-twist that the victim forgot to thanks your help or even worst if that person attacked you after you help.....Yes, I know, am myself not as brave as that tailor (cowardiance even I believe within me), but such people who risk their lives for others (as even fictional characters also immitate mirror our realistic "worth risking persona figures from famous names or anonymus individuals") are nevertheless worth of praise even though it maybe foolish & stupid for not saving his/her own life by being sacrifice in exchange. Many indeed will booing for not joining survival game, but then again how much more these dead meat figures will touch everyone's heart & mind to make the world better & even memorials the worth risking sacrifice (although they're already dead to receive give thanks but that's the least we all could do).......So again, then the question in the end will be: "Are you ready to prepare paying that price....even if with your very own life?"......And yes, I'm still wondering 'til now if I could answer that question so I hope I'm ready to say yes someday.

Timely yet timeless: a classic fairy-tale situation distilled to its essence. Concise and lovely.
The way the bride was still crying as she turned to fly away really resonated with me.. something about finally being free but still carrying the feelings from before, along with the new emotions that freedom brings. OUGH this was such a good film
I thought the tailor would cut off her wings but I'm rly glad it was wholesome
this was so so captivating! the reveal of her wings was beautiful,, I love the blues and reds in the end :’)
Tbh I'm afraid to watch these little masterpieces that I see sometimes on youtube because they're always so sad and hopeless but this animation was so sweet, powerful and life-affirming (and beautiful of course)
It is still sad (because there are difficult life circumstances etc) but with good ending, that I REALLY appreciate

This is so beautiful. The tailor helping them at the end was so wholesome, I was so scared that the bride wouldn't get her freedom. The binding vs releasing of her wings is a metaphor I always love. It's amazingly animated and voice acted. The way you use colour is delicous, contrasting the warm red tones of her captivity with the blue of freedom.
This really shows how so much women are told their only good for marriage they need to spread their wings
I'm speechless, everything from the story, art, pacing, voice acting was incredible!
This was so simple and beautiful. My eyes watered when the young girl was crying and holding back the pain. At least she found her freedom. 🌸
This is so true, on many to spread their wings, it made me cry to see especially in today's society we still don't treat it as valued life, to think such as to those who wants freedom is the perfect example of our joy to allow such a impression in life, loved it!

probably one of my favorite calarts films i've watched this year, i like the stylization a lot and the fact that the story wasted very little time and was just a fast paced short story was really good! personally i would have liked the lines to be a little thicker at certain points to make the characters pop out from the background a little more.
that bird flying at the end is so charming; i love it!💖

That story has a meaning. It represents about freedom, and to let go of burdens in life. We don't need to get burden of the situation. Our soul needs to breath 😊

The scene with the wings coming out was breathtaking, amazing work
I love the style and coloring used in this; I'm a therapist and I'm putting together a video collection to talk with teens about, and this will be really nice for looking at family versus self, how did the bride and tailor get to these points, it's really well done. Good job! :)

视频做的挺好呀，结婚是个大场合，新娘感觉害怕是挺正常的不过有些就是父母和社会给了太大的压力所以有机会就逃走，我以为师傅想把她的翅膀剪掉了反而是给她自由起飞，只要我们的生活里有一个能理解跟支持我们的人 我觉得生活是很自由了

wow. i just looked at your portfolio and you're an amazing storyteller. absolute chills from just clicking through The Witch and Her Harpies. i feel like i could watch your works multiple times and still find new details to chew over. your animation has such a liveliness to it...sorry i know nothing about animation so thats the best i can do in describing it lol
