    Sabudana Khichdi Recipe
    Maharashtrian style
    Soaked sabudana 1 cup
    peanuts ¼ cup
    Oil 2 tbsp
    Jeera 1 tsp
    Ginger chopped ½ tbsp
    Green chilli chopped 1 tsp
    Curry leaves 6-7 leaves
    Boiled potato diced ½ cup
    Salt ½ tbsp
    Sugar 2 tsp
    Coriander chopped 1 tbsp
    Lemon 1 no.
    Grated coconut 2 tbsp
    Heat a pan, add diced boiled potato and shallow fry then until it get brown.
    Drain the soaked sabudana and transfer it to a bowl.
    Add crushed peanuts, sugar, salt and lightly mix it.
    Heat a pan, add oil, jeera, ginger chopped, green chillies chopped, curry leaves and let it crackle.
    Then add sabudana mixture and toss it.
    Later add chopped coriander, fried potato and toss it.
    Cover it with the lid and cook for 5-6 mins on medium flame.
    While serving, squeeze some lemon and garnish with grated coconut.
    UP Style
    Soaked sabudana 1 cup
    Peanuts 2 tbsp
    Potato dice (boiled & Fried) ½ cup
    Oil 2 tbsp
    Jeera 1 tsp
    Red chilli pwd a pinch
    Turmeric pwd a pinch
    Hing ½ tsp
    Ginger chopped ½ tbsp
    Green chilli chopped 1 tsp
    Chopped tomato ½ cup
    Salt ½ tbsp
    Coriander chopped 1 tbsp
    Heat a pan, add oil and fry peanuts. Keep them aside.
    In the pan,add jeera, hing, ginger chopped, green chilli and let it crackle.
    Later add chopped tomato, red chilli pwd, turmeric pwd and saute.
    Then add soaked sabudana, salt and stir.
    Then add fried potatoes and fried peanuts.
    Cover and cook it for 5-6 mins.
    Lastly add chopped coriander and serve hot.

    Sir, I like to watch your videos . I appreciate your practical tips too.
    In sabudana khichdi of maharastrian style kadhipatta is never added as it is not allowed during vrat / upwas.
    Moreover one practical tip is after soaking sabudana in water, the water should be fully drained out after about 30 to 45 min and then left for 6 hours. that will give no sticky yet proper soft texture to the Khichdi.

    Sabudana khichdime kabhibhi kadipatta nahi dalta, kadipatta vratme varjit hai.
    We garnish it with fresh coconut. We also add lemon juice, to sugar balance ho jati hai!!

    Both the recipies are wonderful chef.But for how long should we soak sabudana? You soaked it overnight and some of them say don't soak it for too long.Please clear my confusion.🙏

      I soak over night but minimum 4 hours is fine

    Maharashtrian style is simple n best. But mostly Maharashtrians don't add ginger and curry leaves, and use ghee instead of oil. Tomato bahot weird combination hai khichdi me aur vaise bhi vrat me tomato nhi chalta

    Never mind whether you are using for fast or just a snack , oil is not used for tadka, pure ghee is the only way to go for Maharastrian tadka.
