The last of Metrolink's Bombardier Cab Cars

  • This is my last footage of Metrolink trains being controlled by Bombardier bilevel cars. These cab cars are no longer seen in the lead as Hyundai-Rotem cars have taken over. The cab cars are done and the majority, if not all of the Bombardier coach cars will also be replaced. But it's for the better. The Hyundai-Rotem cars are safer and more modern. Also, when dealing with crossings as dangerous as this one, Santa Ana boulevard, a safer car is essential.

      no, the best thing they should’ve done is run 2 different sets like Caltrain, Gallery Car and Bombardier Car, Metrolinks version should’ve been Hyundai Rotem Set and Bombardier Set.

    The old cabcars are not scraped yet. I actually like the newer ones, but to make this right for you guys, it would be a good idea to run the old ones on safer routes or run them on there special anniversary. Besides, some of the old coaches are still used. (I meant the ones without cabs between the rotems)

    GO TRANSIT in ontario has nothing but Bombardier coaches as these coaches were developed for GO if you look for videos of the GO trainsets you see the new 2800 series coaches and 1 year old 300 series modern bombardier cab cars there is still older 200 series old style cab cars leading in push pull but many are now added as coaches like they do in Chicago on Metra

      Also Coaster and Altamont Commuter Express still have those. But Coasters F40PH, F59PHI locomotives, and Bombardier Bilevel Cab Cars now have choked or fouled K5LA horns.
      Some of ACE's F40PH locomotives and cab cars have good K5LA horns.

    Update for those interested: Some of the cab cars are still in service, they are just being used only as regular coach cars (until their eventual removal from service). As for the removing of the Bombardier cars in general, the 3rd generation Bi-Levels for now seem to be the only ones not affected by the arrival of the new Guardian Fleet. Most of the 1st & 2nd gen cars have disappeared, but some 1st & 2nd gen cars still live on as special Bicycle cars on select trips across the system.

      Chi Hyun Ahn it’s probably gonna be hard to get to they’re Yard or they’re offices and there’s a Bombardier car with the design of Hyundai Rotem And Bombardier failed Crashes Because in 2005 And 2008 Metrolink Bombardier Cars in 2005 parts Went everywhere and in 2008 the Front Of The Bombardier Car opened and caused a fire Hyundai Rotem has a crumple zone which makes it safer and in 2015 Metrolink Slammed Into a pickup truck and caused a fire on the railroad And in 2015 they had PTC And in 2015 The Crash Only the Lights Of The Cab car broke and nothing else And people only got injured and in 2005 And 2008 almost everybody on the train died Only 25 Of Them Did And BNSF served service for them from ending of ptc to 2016 or 2017 more smarter people will tell you this and also it will be hard to put it in your backyard because you have to tell Metrolink And tell the track workers and your parents and why would you want Bombardier scence Metrolink Has them as the stay alive car and the bike car and other kinds of cars and another year to say goodbye to Bombardier For CalTrain Because On 2020 they will go electric CalTrain Still has them and ace and other Trains And also ace cab car number 3309 crashed into rushing water and after when they took out the car from the water it was all damaged and why do Trains still have these scence they will fail

    Totally off subject but why does Amtrak operate the older single deck cars on the Pacific Surfliner route during the evening? These cars seem to have an oder to them that cant be cleaned out

    • @fluffysaffron5719
      @fluffysaffron5719 4 года назад +1

      Amtrak doesn't have enough double-deck cars for all the Surfliner trains to be bilevel consists, so it also runs a single-level consist made up of Amfleet cars (the single level ones, mostly used on the East Coast) on the line. I'm not sure what the reason is behind using them in the evening, but the smell is probably just because they're older cars that have been used more. Most of the Amfleets were built in the 80s and some even date back to the 70s.

    I know! I just rode the surfliner to union station and passed where all the bombardier cab cars were stored! I saw they were a bit rusty but boarded up windows? It's so sad how metrolink abuses their bombardiers and then just wastes their money on those terrible new cars! Refuse to maintain BBLs, refuse to make them safer, refuse to repaint them, leave them to rust and get new trash rotems that costs 2x more? FAIL

    • @TFN5459
      @TFN5459 8 лет назад +3

      Only time will tell. The only problem I have against the new cab car designs is the inability to place them in the middle of a train as a standard coach if need be. You can only place two max on a train with one at each end facing away from one another. Also, it appears that Metrolink has been boarding up the windows and headlights on the Bombardier Cab cars and placing them back into service as regular cars, or at least #606 is like that.

    There was a reason why these were replaced.the rotem cars have bigger noses and can be more robust than the bombardier cab cars,bombardiers have no extended noses so if it crashes the driver and the passengers in the cab car will get killed easily.(pls don't send hate to me)

    • @michlo3393
      @michlo3393 2 года назад

      Yes. It's a lot better to hit something in the Rotem when you're sitting that high up, the collision is beneath you. In the bombardier cabs, you were right in the shit.
