You could have used a zombie in the day light sensor one. When it gets damaged a sculk sensor (maybe callibrated) detects it and water is dispensed along with a potion to heal the zombie. Wool can be added to block sound of dispenser (for versions below 1.20 lol)
ooh, but what if you made a villager based daylight sensor. same idea with a bed and a pressure plate but no need to inconvenience the player!! very interesting video
For the machine that touches grass, you could just have a piston that moves up and down over a grass block. I mean, the only requirement was for it to touch grass.
The single instruction you should have used for the CPU is SBNZ. While not particularly easy to code for, you can design a general computer with this single instruction, and it is well defined with redstone signal strength encoding.
Here's perhaps the most dense idea you'll come across in a while: *A COMBINATION of a TOGGLEABLE NETHER PORTAL and an USELESS MACHINE* . Not sure which outcome your version would result in but I imagine it either breaks after you make it into the Nether or breaks before lighting. Or, it can be even more dense & via usage of a randomizer, make either outcome possible.
Does anyone remember the old style daylight sensor? It used water on top of grass and a BUD switch I think. At night the grass died, because there was not enough light. And in the day the grass would grow back. That would get detected with the BUD switch
Before Day light senors were in the game what you would do is build 1x5x2 hole with a door in the middle and a pressure plate on the far side of hole and put a villager in the hole. old minecraft counted a free standing door with a block on top and at least two spaces of transparent blocks behind the door as a "house." villagers always exit the house during the day and return to the nearest "house" at night. you put the pressure plate on the side of the hole depending on if you want it to go off at night or day. you could also add an extension on the outside of the hole to prevent the villager from toggling the button in a short time frame.
"Push the button on top of the toilet like every real life toilet!" GOD I feel old; I remember when the button on the top was a weird new thing we all had to adjust to and you always just pulled the lever on the side. It's so weird that there's people who think of a button as the DEFAULT option, not the fancy modern one only some people have.
At 3:48 the door is now a 7. At 7:29 256 is actually the common amount of levels until a game glitches, for example, in Pac-Man, level 256 is glitched and there is no way to pass it.
For the lag just take 1. Redstone ore 2. Exp bottles (50 should be good) 3. 2 observers 4. Dispenser Steps 1. Place redstone ore 2. Ad dispenser above 3. Fill dispenser with exp bottles 4. Use observers to make dispenser auto fire. JAVA ONLY
I saw this somewhere eles, someone has prolly already commented this, and I am 6 months late. For the daylight sensor, I saw someone use 8 grass blocks above and below a dirt block, place a piston that would get updated when the grassblock grows (Needs a certain amount of light to grow), then dispense water over it which would remove the grass once the light level was low enough.
You could Just Take an Villiger, make a House with a pressure Plate INSIDE and a small way outside with a bed. Night = villager Indoor on pressureplate, day = villager outside
for the daylight sensor just use a skeleton that burns when days start, a skulk sensor hears it put it in water and starts a 10 minutes timer bc day cant be skipped
The problem is that if you unload the chunks it will stop working. I think the villager bed idea is the best one because it is immune to chunk unloading.

a piston door that looks like a massive piston door (like 5x5 or 10x10 or something), including all the redstone, that is actually a 1x2 piston door

taking purplers out of context: "ok, i am holding my poop right now"
for the daylight sensor it might be possible to use a villager to detect night as they will sleep before the player is allowed to
for the daylight sensor just use a skeleton that burns when days start, a skulk sensor hears it put it in water and starts a 10 minutes timer bc day cant be skipped
The problem is that if you unload the chunks it will stop working. I think the villager bed idea is the best one because it is immune to chunk unloading.
I remember very old school daylight sensors in 1.7 beta (yes beta) using grass spreading under water. grass died at night and grew during the day.
You should make door that closes when you go in and opens when you try to go out. 😁
1:00 the day in minecraft is 11 minutes, not 10. The daylight cycle IS 20 minutes, because the night is 9 minutes
