I myself know many NEET droppers 2nd dropper who just sit for JEE for practice and qualify for JEE advance but doesn't give advance . Also about the medical students - for few medical students now general candidates are not eligible for advance because medical students won't take the seat but will take the rank.

There's more precedent to remove droppers from mains than neet students since, an entire year is a super massive advantage and they are taking oppurtunities away from students who were smart enough to do well in 2 years.

One thing that i believe is systematically wrong with how NTA calculates rank from percentile is that they don't do any kind of normalisation between January attempt and April attempt.
This year January attempt had 11 lakh students and April attempt had 14 lakh students. Say you got 99%ile in Jan attempt, which means that the people who ranked better than you were 11,000, then say you got a 98%ile in April attempt. NTA will take the best percentile out of these 2 attempts and then apply it on the overall number of unique candidates that are combined from Jan and April attempt (this year this number was 15 lakh). Which means that while in Jan attempt only 11,000 people were ahead of you, now after April attempt on the same percentile you got in Jan attempt suddenly 15,000 are ahead of you even though some of them didn't give the paper in the same conditions as you did, ofc there is variance from shift to shift as well which isn't accounted for but the difference of a few days doesn't vary these numbers too much.
But from session to session you have 2 more months to prepare, which is a very long amount of time and has added variation over the results to the point that extrapolating rank from percentile is no longer as accurate.
I know many may say that you also had that time to improve, why didn't you improve? But that's not the point, the model is systematically flawed in this way and NTA does no form of normalisation between attempts to fix this. If NTA can't normalize these results then they should release 2 seperate CRL lists for both attempts and take your best RANK out of them, yes this would mean that there will be sometimes 2 people sitting on the same rank. But it is a much better way to rank candidates than to have more variance with extrapolating percentile from one population to another population

NO ANUP SIR YOU ARE WRONG, what you're thinking is disconnected from reality and it's coming from a failed dropper so i'm not just yapping but gonna provide some solid points which you never took in consideration:
1. More applicants= more competition YES IT DOES, 2024 is the prime example and i'm baffled how could you even say that it's foolishness given 99%ile fetched 15k+ rank how is that not a sign of more competition???
2. The marks required to achieve the same percentile sky rocketed in both attempts and still saying it's not a sign of high competition is just pure ignorance of average aspirants since all you're looking at are the rankers of jee mains/advance.
3. Hardwork is not everything, PLEASE STOP THIS CRAP, look at the difficulty distribution of paper in mains and the amount of wrong ques NTA never corrected which costed aspirants their crucial time of exam and ranks. WHY NEVER SAY THIS??
4. CHEATERS ARE PART OF PROBLEM YOU'RE SUPPORTING CHEATERS BY SAYING ASPIRANTS ARE NOT ABLE TO SCORE HIGH SO THEY SHOULD'NT RAISE VOICE AGAINST CHEATERS??? SIRR???? ARE YOU ALRIGHT???????????????????
5. BECAUSE OF CHEATERS CUT-OFF FOR GEN CANDIDATES WENT UPTO A ABSURD LEVEL AND THAT'S THEIR PROBLEM?? NOT SCORING 200+ IN JEE MAINS SHOULD'NT BE A CRITERIA TO PIN-POINT CHEATERS.
6. JEE mains paper has shifted from application based to rote learning and nowdays good rank in jee mains is not a sign of a candidates capability to crack jee adv and thanks to cheaters and medical aspirants for making it easier to just throw away hardwork in mud.
7. STOP ENCOURAGING NEET ASPIRANTS TO GIVE JEE MAINS, they litertally contributed in high cutoffs of phys/chem and you're fine with it?? stop it pls since you're robbing jee aspirants of deserving rank. saying "neet wala hoke jee wale se zyda le aaya" is some r*tard level shit to say
8. JEE MAINS %ile never equals smart candidate or an advance aspirant. I have seen people get 96+%ile and shivers to give jee advance.
9. PLEASE ANUP SIR, stop groping eveything with a good marks and rank cause if everyone reached 200+ then no one will be at 200+, 27th and 29th jan shifts are prime examples.
Duly take all these points in consideration before throwing awaying most of candiates by saying hardwork is everything, no it's not and please don't support cheaters this way

9:00 Sir the problem here is not the fact that cheating has occurred, but the fact that such a drastic improvement has been seen in the score. Like seriously,(not taking any names) but imagine going all the way from a mere 7 percentile(Which is negative marks for all we know) to a whopping 100 percentile?? Is that even possible in a span of two months? The magnitude of this issue is fairly large as you can see, since it questions the reliability the testing authority actually has in the execution of a Test which people work hard for for 2 years. There might be an even more deserving candidate out there for all we know, who has now lost his opportunity due to this person's actions.

In JEE Mains Physics and Chemistry are at level of NEET now, and scoring just in them saying 200 gives 98.5 percentile.
But in NEET 360 = P+C
and 360 = Bio

Designing an extreme easy paper is very lethal indeed as it does not test the deep conceptual knowledge of a candidate. Suppose an aspirant who have deep understanding of a subject is giving such easy exams. He/she knows the concept but still sometimes get it wrong due to slight silly errors such as calculation or even wrong questions adds to the loss. Now take example of an aspirant who have just memorised formulas and gave the exam. This scenario leads to the improper distinction between a hardworking candidate and the one who took shortcuts.

Conclusion- according to me the Indian competitive exam system is a bit bogus. It is just focusing on selection of eligible students but not on 'quality candidates'. And hence there is no such method on the basis of which we can identify the real skill.
Online education is increasing cutoffs and competition. Students may not be able to get a good rank but they are definitely attempting more questions due to which cut-off is going up and competition is inc.

I completely understand the mindset which you are asking us to have, but sir this is just not fair for the JEE aspirants. From the beginning we are made to prepare according to the potential of this exam including the complex topics, with the mindset that this paper is going to have the same standards but the pattern has changed so much and has been made so similar to the NEET paper (in Phys and Chem) whereas the level of Maths has gone to another extreme, how can we expect the students to be able to manage the 3 subjects so well with Maths being so time consuming, it's almost useless to attempt questions of Maths, because if you need marks you have to attempt Phys chem questions , but being JEE aspirants we run after Maths, isn't it obvious that the NEET aspirants will outperform us considering they are rather cool headed for this exam with only 2 subjects to attempt and ample of time !?

One thing i'd like to add here in when we compare to 2013, we need to focus on quality of education candidates were receiving. Many candidates back then used to give jee based on just board classes, but now, number of coaching centres have vasty increased, and thus the number of students who are receiving jee targeted education. Not to mention, online learning has made jee accessible to anyone. Seats in iits may have doubled, but the number of candidates that are actually doing jee targeted preparation has definitely gone way more than 3x compared to 2013. However, above 99 percentile the competition has remained pretty much the same as last year, more competition is around the lower percentiles, so it could be just neet people too.
It is unfair to select students in CSE on the basis of Phy and Chem scores.

Jee main chem and physics have dropped the level significantly in jan without any reason and ncert type theory ques were better favored for Neet students hence they can easily score above 130 and 140 and hence raising cutoff significantly.Imagine someone going to gov engineering clg with no knowledge in mathematics.

I think the problem is how some neet aspirants get into 99 percentile with the help of like 31s1 31s2 1s2 etc this makes other hardworking students feel like shit lets imaging a 2 year hardworking jee aspirant scoring 220 in 27s1 and scoring 98%ile and a neet aspirant scoring 160 in 31s2 and getting 99.2%ile who really deserves the seat here the most one who got less than 15k rank with 2 subject or a sincere aspirant who scored good very good in 3 subjects. the real problem is the weightage ratio in neet its 1:1:2 and in jee its 1:1:1 which makes it more complicated. let me tell you this make bio as hard as maths in jee and make the ratio 1:1:1 in neet you will see the medical college filled with Jee aspirants. the point is making maths as hard as climbing a mount Everest and making chem and physics as easy walking. jee aspirants will tend to study physics and chemistry more than maths. math will be their nightmare. here my solution will change the ratio to make it 1:1:2 and make maths easier than before it would get rid of neet aspirants at the top rank .

He got a better percentile than me. Was it my mistake to do maths ?? He definitely devoted more of his time for physics and chemistry. Jahan jahan galti ho sakti thi due to lack of time, unn sabko wo asani se avoid karr paya or revision ke time correction karr liya. So is it a mistake to devote more time to maths in an engineering exam where a person who just carefully attempts physics and chemistry paper gets better rank than an average guy who performs decently in pcm ? As an average guy, I try my best to challenge my limits. sometimes I fall. But I pick myself up again for the next challenge. But when I see that 1/3rd of my hard work is almost going to waste, it only brings down my confidence and my respect for everything else in this world.

So guys after looking at the infighting in different opinions in the comments let me share my story, just to put things in perspective. I gave my first shift on 31 s2 where the paper was on the level of 2018 year paper. I scored 44 in Physics, 26 in chem and 15 in Maths. My percentile was 94, 80 and 83 respectively with a total of 93.03. But when in April 9s2, with better prep and better score, my percentile actually dropped. Now my prep was never about doing every chapter. I mainly focused on chapters I knew I could solve any sum from, my teaxhers from my coaching also encouraged that. But 9 s2 humbled me. I got 60 in physics 60 in chem and 12 in maths with 11 marks in negative marking. But my percentile only came out to be 89.5. This shows what happens when an Exam becomes easy. Jee Coachings focus more on greater difficulty problems and students are encouraged to do some chapters completely. But Neet Aspirants are told to complete just the basics. As the difficulty is less, Jee Aspirants aren't able to perform as much as NEET Aspirants. And I gave 31 s2 when I was sick with diarhea and was vomiting spontaneously. And I still got 93%ile. But the exam I gave with better prep and better health wasn't suited to the type of prep I had done. The thing I learned was that I shouldn't focus on advance prep if I wanna crack Jee Mains. Those things are completely different as of now, with Mains fcking the difficulty level of Physics and Chemistry. If the exams were harder many advance candidates would actually get their chance to shine.
Edit: Another infuriating thing is that Jee doesn't acknowledge wrong questions. My April shift had one confirmed wrong physics question which they didn't drop. 5 marks make a big difference. Many aspirants might lose their advanced qualifications by those marks, not to count how many undeserving might have gained it by that one question.
There are many aspirants who have self realisation of what they deserve........i knew i cannot score 99.....drop lekr is journey me bas 97- 98 score krna tha aur bs NIT me ghusna tha.............pr marks vs percentile me itne drastic change ka pehle pta hota to 1 year bach jaata...........i knew i could cross 150 jispe pichle saal NIT mil jaati thi.....pr is saal to kuch bhi nhi hua itne score pe
gen ki seats thodi badi kuch khaas compared to reserved seats in these 10 years
