I've been searching, and searching long, and finally my search ahs been fruitful. A teacher, not just well versed in his subject, but also articulation, an open minded awareness of the student's perspective. I've seen some foreign professors, but you are the first Indian. I hope to meet you some day, though I will be trying to pursue physics at IISc
Sir i'll be glad to attend your lecture at iit Kharagpur in 2025. Didn't have much motivation for jee till now but after watching a professor like you, i am willing to meet you in person at your lecture.
In class 10, I had struggled a lot with fully understanding the concepts, and mostly mugged up the theory, which meant i couldn't answer application based questions. So i went to ask my math teacher, who was actually amazing at physics and he advised me to always ask the question , "why?" , while studying the theory. That simple method cleared up the concepts for me.
I am tearing up so bad I love how much I can relate to sir's words I am greatful to him My physics teacher never teach concept but go on with sums my friends do it but i can't I want a basic theory to work on But sir's words made me tear up because he said what i wanted to hear He said that falling behind friends is fine and theory is imp And the words sir told about the problem solving is me i always look at soln I wanna change it so bad and i hope I will Thank u so much sir Pls make video for chem and maths too I love your videos
Critical Insights given by Sir, especially for chemistry. Neglecting it cost me my selection in the entrance examinations. About physics learning, Sir is right in all ways. One should go at his/her pace rather than matching someone else's because without proper understanding and grasping of concepts, it would be a disaster. Every one's brain frequency is at a different level. What one may grasp within seconds others might take several minutes to absorb. One might skip two steps in solving a problem but others might to write down all the steps to arrive at the solution.
Thanks from a medical student interested in physics. I think I have the right to be interested in the subject even though the level is exponentially is low as compared to the requirement of IIT for its aspirants.
Sir thankyou because of you i am now able to do every numerical and question of mathematics as i was watching you videos since beginning.. Thankyou so so much.I feel like this channel should grow as people are selling courses without having such content but sometimes i feel why are these videos free.It is just amazing to be your subscriber. .
Thanks a lot sir. I am currently started studying in 12th and i was really having a problem while studying physics as my whole 11th went waste because of the same habit of craming up the bunch and spit it on the paper. As the questions were conceptual based which required the concepts that were there in the book. I am willing to follow your suggestion of solving problems by myself as i was craming up the concepts without understanding and even solving questions while looking at guide and not even solving it myself. 🙏🏻♥️
9:40 I follow Physics for scientists and engineers by serway and Jewett, it's someway better than Resnick in most parts but It follows the international convention in thermodynamics
Here are the tips listed in the video on how to study Physics for 10+2: [1:00] Unlearn everything you learned about physics up to class 10. Physics requires a completely new way of thinking. [1:23] Physics is the most difficult subject among Physics, Chemistry and Maths and requires the deepest level of thinking. [1:40] Be honest with yourself. Not everyone can excel in physics, and that's okay. [1:45] Don't rely on guidebooks. Pick one good textbook and learn from it thoroughly. The video recommends Concepts of Physics by HC Verma. [2:10] Develop the habit of making your own notes, but only after you've tried solving problems on your own. [2:37] Don't neglect the "thinking type" of questions in the textbook. These are essential for building a strong conceptual understanding. [2:50] Solve problems on your own before looking at the solutions. Struggle through them, even if it takes a long time. Looking at solutions without trying is a bad habit. [3:10] It's okay if you can't complete all the problems. Focus on what you can do and be sure you understand it. [3:20] Don't neglect your other subjects, especially Chemistry, because Physics is time-consuming. The video mentions the speaker's regret of neglecting Chemistry in 11th grade.
Really loving this series... Whao... I remember cracking one problem from Newton's laws of motion after one year i.e on class twelve. And going for one good book... for first reading. Excellent.
I still hold my HC Verma and RD Sharma books. My god! The time I spent every evening with my teachers discussing the problems, and the perspectives it gave has made me what I am today.
Dear Professor Chakraborty, My name is Rishi Ratan Pandey, and I am in 9th grade I came across your RUclips channel and have found your insights on jee to be extremely valuable. JEE is a very competitive exam. I'm very scared almost 10 lakh + aspirants give this exam and most of them fail. *What's the special thing about this exam!?* My IQ is not very high it's somewhere between 92-106. (All tests were designed for adults there were very few for my age group) I came to know about my IQ through r/cognitiveTesting subreddit. My main queries are : 1)How to study for jee without a coaching? How you prepared? Share your strategies. What were you doing in 9th grade? 2)What's special thing about the JEE Advanced? 3)How to study maths? I know you covered this in a video. But still you said that do problems yourself whenever I try to I get stuck I can't proceed further the problems are too tough for my brain to comprehend. How to get rid of this loophole? 4)My teachers say that there are 159 students(9th and 11th) in the compartment Total 321 students. 😲 How to not get into this category? Almost half 9th grade failed my senior told me. 5) Some can't crack mains even studying for 12 hours. What mistakes they make that go unnoticed? 6)How to stop comparing yourself to others? This habit demotivates me a lot. 7)How to top in maths and science? Online coachings don't teach advanced level syllabus. They stick to main which is more easier for students to understand. I understand that you may have a busy schedule, but any assistance or guidance you could provide would be greatly appreciated Thank you very much for considering my request. I look forward to hearing from you at your earliest convenience. Warm regards, Rishi Ratan Pandey
ive done concepts of physics (both volumes) and did all the questions by myself (mainly the end questions were very hard). calculus really helps before starting physics, and preparing for inpho aswell.
I an erstwhile physics teacher who taught for several batches of plus two students. I happened to teach students of rural back ground, somtimes in the telugu medium, and always had discontented feeling as almost all of them leave physics after their plus two. I enjoyed your inspiring video. As an elderly lady I apprciate your efforts and convey my good wishes for guiding more aspiring students
This is a very nice guide and I am perhaps the same generation or half a generation older than the respected professor (but certainly not wiser). Completely agree with all of this. However, having worked as an Engineer for two decades and dealing with graduate entrants I see a radical shift in the way the next generation thinks and grasps new concepts. We should take into account the exposure and evolution of learning tools that the current generation of students have grown up with.
thanku so much sir i was really struggling with physics as in previous class i studied many stupid things which are really difficult to forget, but now i will improve.
You can tell he is serious about sharing his knowledge by looking at the dedication and thoughts. Focus on the landline earpiece kept apart from the receiver.
Yeah +2 physics is significantly harder than what comes before. But being able to see what you learn in real life really helps. There was no RUclips when I was in school (how I wish Sixty Symbols existed when I was a kid), but the motivating examples from Halliday, Resnick & Walker's physics book, at the start of each chapter, really helped keep the interest up and push through the maths in order to find the answer to the example. As a guitarist, the one about Jimmy Hendrix's guitar pick-up was my favorite while the first chapter example about calculating the earth's circumference by measuring the time difference between two sun sets (when you lie down and when you stand up) was mind blowing :-)
@@counterpoint9260 Sixty Symbols, Veritasium, Smarter Everyday. This isn't for JEE prep itself (I didn't clear JEE so I don't have any useful advice here), but to understand Physics and also get a sense of wonder about the subject. That attitude helps you push through whe the subject gets difficult or dry.
First of all, best regards sir! I am from humanities background having no idea about the intricacy of physics. But the best thing is that the tips you have shared is equally important and applicable for all other subjects as well. Got a great insight, thank you♥️🙏
I did my inter a very long time ago And physics was my fav. When I was in 11 - 12 we didnt have any homework as we were in 'College' not a school.any more ! That was a blessing. Nowadays students rush thru assignments , no space to sit on a problem till you got the solution on your own . One tip is to make an image of the problem situation in your mind and and manipulate the aspects mentally Here it will be useful to imagine the sizes and scales comfortable for you. A cricke ball sized small particles for example. Thinking about them is so much easier. Mentally picture as graphs and figures. And remember your plane geom concepts from 8 to 10th Very important. All the more in optics. Carry the problem in your head, not just during your study time or when the book is in front of you. Try to tackle the problem as far as possible in your head. Newton is still the basis of physics.
Hello jc sir I'd like to thank you for making this guides and I would like to make request regarding making a video on which school should you attend regular school or dummy school. Please it would be a great help as I am a 11th moving student .
Please make video like this on maths even though i am not in class 11 rather moving from class 12 to university but this still finds these tips helpful.
Within a very limited time of 15 minutes you have given some important tips to start studying Physics at 10+2. The tips are important because they have germinated from your practical experiences and so I believe that the students will be benefitted by them. That apart, your presentation was very lucid and clear to understand with.
Although i was not much good in physics, i will always have ❤ for physics. I believe those those who are good in physics are also good in maths but may not be the vice-versa.
is it me or physics or even chemistry for that matter is basically mathematicians applyings maths to the real world and finding the 'algorithm' of nature
Thank you sir for your tips. I m able to connect to some of your tips cuz I was unconsciously following them. Your vid help if with my jee perp Thank you
Sir I really want to learn everything in deep because that just makes it more interesting but i am school going so i am bit scared and sometimes I don't even get time to practice question properly forget trying to understand deeply which definitely needs time and patience
Ultralearning by Scott H. Young especially his 9 techniques teaches a lot on how to study, thank your for the experience you shared with us sir it is definitely gonna help us.
Just like sir said i believe it is better to read from one guide book and practice probelms from other books. Also before solving the other books just reading once will do i think.
thabk you sir ,this helps a lot, please keep up this good work sir, this is something even my father is asking me to do esp for physics that i must spend most time with books rather than only watching lectures as that is not very much benificial on my part , i am implementig this hbit of reading books now, thanks again sir
SIr regarding your recommendation of HC Verma Book, i have heard that is it good for physics enthusiasts, but maybe not tailor made for JEE preparation. Is it correct to give priority to coaching material and other jee-specific question books before hc verma?
PLEASE ANSWER SIR - 8:16 Sit at this point u mention that make notes after gaining some experience of that topic through question but it conflicts with what my teacher told me, he said that try to make notes during class along with understanding concept to save time please tell me what should i i do and also some teacher told to make seperate copy for questions, should i do this if yes, tell me how to manage it without consuming more time and frustation that happen with me while managing it.
Do what best suits you. If you can make notes during class i.e if you dont get distracted from the main lecture than make notes. Otherwise, make notes after class. These are simple things you should be able to figure out by yourself.
My advice to students you can ONLY imbibe physics and have a super grasp if and only if you are sound in maths as this subject is ladder for many in general but this very physics in specific plus the icing on top will be sound English language foundation. Last but not the least do not perch on text book only rather get a few from different publishers. I am professor of physics too.
Thanks for your effort sir💓🙌🙏 keep sharing more video for other subjects like mathematics too ☺️ and please recommend some good books from where we can practice mains and advance level questions.
There's nothing to be harmed. Even he promotes the book reading for understanding the concept rather than those just sucking lecs. As far as hcv is concerned everybody knows it that it is not completely sufficient for extremely out of the box adv problems...
Sir, can you please make a similiar video on how to "learn" physics for grade 9th and 10th? Our physics teacher at school is really good and he often hands out books to students and gives them one month to finish it. I'm in 9th this year and I'm excited but still want to make sure that I spent my time in tje right direction. For summer vacation our teacher gave me a thin book on logarithm. Our class uses the "foundation course" series by MTG for grade 9 physics. The book gives vast exposure to different topics but they assume you've already been following them for the past 3 years.
Sir, This is truly a God sent video for my daughter, who has actually stepped into class 10 , a few days before. Thank you so much. Physics is actually like a younger brother to maths. The problem is half of the teachers in school, who teach physics, don’t understand the subject themselves . My daughter had this issue last year. There was a Sir for physics, who is totally a disgrace to the subject himself. Kindly excuse me for such a harsh comment about that Sir, but that’s what he is. Students suffered so much because of him and the school management, was not ready to change him either. But luckily this year he doesn’t handle science for her section, but there are other sections, where kids has to study under him. Is there any book for class 10, which you can suggest Professor?
It's really unfortunate to get stuck with incompetent teachers. For Class 10, there are the Foundations of Physics but if I remember correctly, they follow the CBSE syllabus.
@@sandhya5236I believe that Professor JC is referring to the book Foundation of Physics by HC Verma. It's a really good book. As I just finished class 10 from CBSE and myself used that book, it's really good. I found that it has a different sort of approach to the concepts which are taught in a rather boring way in some other References like S Chand and so on. The problems are really insightful and interesting along with well illustrated and explained theory. Definitely recommended along with NCERT Science exemplar for problem solving. And trust me sir all the MCQs in the Boards paper were from Exemplar. Another suggestion is to devour and destroy the NCERT Science Textbook. It needs to be thoroughly read and understood multiple times , so well that the student even knows the location of everything concept/ line/ word from the book.
Sir I am very good in Core Mathematics ( in problem solving & understanding Deep concept easily or sometime suffering ( motive is I understand and feel) ) I am also good(little bit) in physics b'cz I am easily solve numerical problems( not all problems) but when I completed one chapter in physics, I forgot previous chapters concept. I want revive everyday physics but I don't manage time for revision .
Hello sir. I just got to know about the jee advanced exam in the year 2024 in the month of march while I passed my 12th examination in 2023. Sir, I was not aware of the exam because I am a resident of the rural area and in lack of resources like mobile phones. Sir, coming from a small town when I got to know about IIT, it's academic excellence, it's faculty , the scope to do something big in the world, I was astounded. Sir, in the capacity of belief, confidence, but not mere outburst of motivation that I have , I think I can crack the entrance exam. Sir, it's my really deep request to you for the initiative of 3rd attempt in jee advanced. Sir, it would change my life and the life of many others like me, if we would get into such institutions. Sir, I may not convey the seriousness of this request yet sir when you read this comment with your courtesy. Please do something for us . 🙏🙏
Hey dude , im a year senior to you ( jee 2025 aspirant) , ur icse knowledge in English may help you cope up with cbse class 11 English but jee is still gonna need a lot of upgrades from ur side in terms of sitting hours ( ur in 11th , provided u start now , 4 5 hours of problem solving aside from lectures is more than sufficient )
Make sure u join a good online or offline coaching , and if u feel something's fishy , immediately act , otherwise u will have to type "11th wasted what to do " at this same time next year , which myself and many of your seniors have done

Iske alawa ap cengage publication ki maths ki book refer kar sakte Hain unki book acchi hai.
Baaki , problem solving develop karne ke liye Hume questions hi solve karne hote Hain starting Mai isme kaafi time lagta hai par jab dheere-dheere questions solve hone lagte h to questions solve karne ki speed bhi badh jati hai aur Hume maja bhi aata h

I wish if you would have posted this video a year earlier and i would have followed you , and that would have saved my 11th😢.
I am tearing up so bad
I love how much I can relate to sir's words
I am greatful to him
My physics teacher never teach concept but go on with sums my friends do it but i can't
I want a basic theory to work on
But sir's words made me tear up because he said what i wanted to hear
He said that falling behind friends is fine and theory is imp
And the words sir told about the problem solving is me i always look at soln I wanna change it so bad and i hope I will
Thank u so much sir
Pls make video for chem and maths too
I love your videos
This is such a gem!
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience!
The best things about physics is that if one spends considerable time in understanding theory, then solving problems will be relatively easy and fun😊😊
Sir thankyou because of you i am now able to do every numerical and question of mathematics as i was watching you videos since beginning.. Thankyou so so much.I feel like this channel should grow as people are selling courses without having such content but sometimes i feel why are these videos free.It is just amazing to be your subscriber. .
Forget anything this man's confidence in videos has grown exponentially
Thanks a lot sir. I am currently started studying in 12th and i was really having a problem while studying physics as my whole 11th went waste because of the same habit of craming up the bunch and spit it on the paper. As the questions were conceptual based which required the concepts that were there in the book. I am willing to follow your suggestion of solving problems by myself as i was craming up the concepts without understanding and even solving questions while looking at guide and not even solving it myself. 🙏🏻♥️
I really appreciate you sir, for providing genuine mentorship without any capitalism involved.
9:40 I follow Physics for scientists and engineers by serway and Jewett, it's someway better than Resnick in most parts but It follows the international convention in thermodynamics
Here are the tips listed in the video on how to study Physics for 10+2:
[1:00] Unlearn everything you learned about physics up to class 10.
I always try to follow urs tips sir . Thank you 🙏
At the level of 10+2 these videos are very crucial for oneself.
I kindly request you to make a similar video on mathematics for JEE Mains and Advanced regarding approach to problem solving.
Really loving this series... Whao... I remember cracking one problem from Newton's laws of motion after one year i.e on class twelve. And going for one good book... for first reading. Excellent.
Thankyou sir, for giving guidance in Physics on starting 12th class

Dear Professor Chakraborty,
My name is Rishi Ratan Pandey, and I am in 9th grade I came across your RUclips channel and have found your insights on jee to be extremely valuable.
JEE is a very competitive exam. I'm very scared almost 10 lakh + aspirants give this exam and most of them fail.
*What's the special thing about this exam!?*
My IQ is not very high it's somewhere between 92-106. (All tests were designed for adults there were very few for my age group)
I came to know about my IQ through r/cognitiveTesting subreddit.
My main queries are :
1)How to study for jee without a coaching? How you prepared? Share your strategies. What were you doing in 9th grade?
2)What's special thing about the JEE Advanced?
3)How to study maths? I know you covered this in a video. But still you said that do problems yourself whenever I try to I get stuck I can't proceed further the problems are too tough for my brain to comprehend. How to get rid of this loophole?
4)My teachers say that there are 159 students(9th and 11th) in the compartment
Total 321 students.
I understand that you may have a busy schedule, but any assistance or guidance you could provide would be greatly appreciated
Thank you very much for considering my request. I look forward to hearing from you at your earliest convenience.
Warm regards,
Rishi Ratan Pandey
Ur competition should be with urself not with others so doesn't matter how many appear for exam as ur competitors
dont live in with this questions ..leave everything for god......and surrender to him
Dude you will do good just make effort and remain consistent, try to understand the basics rather than rushing towards the next topic
Don't do this iq kind of thing just grill hard hustle hard and you will succeed these iq tests are waste and demoralizing
I hope I had seen this video 2 yrs back😢

@@gamingzeraora443 hey which class?
I an erstwhile physics teacher who taught for several batches of plus two students. I happened to teach students of rural back ground, somtimes in the telugu medium, and always had discontented feeling as almost all of them leave physics after their plus two. I enjoyed your inspiring video. As an elderly lady I apprciate your efforts and convey my good wishes for guiding more aspiring students
Thank you Madam for your kind words. And, thanks for the efforts as a teacher yourself!
Hello sir, your guidance help me alot, I am qualified JEST exam. Your videos help me alot.
thanku so much sir i was really struggling with physics as in previous class i studied many stupid things which are really difficult to forget, but now i will improve.
As a guitarist, the one about Jimmy Hendrix's guitar pick-up was my favorite while the first chapter example about calculating the earth's circumference by measuring the time difference between two sun sets (when you lie down and when you stand up) was mind blowing :-)
which youtube channels are best for teaching physics which you think could be useful for sdmebody prepping for IIT JEE?
@@counterpoint9260 Sixty Symbols, Veritasium, Smarter Everyday. This isn't for JEE prep itself (I didn't clear JEE so I don't have any useful advice here), but to understand Physics and also get a sense of wonder about the subject. That attitude helps you push through whe the subject gets difficult or dry.
Thank you so much, sir. Looking forward to seeing more videos from you.
First of all, best regards sir! I am from humanities background having no idea about the intricacy of physics. But the best thing is that the tips you have shared is equally important and applicable for all other subjects as well. Got a great insight, thank you♥️🙏
Sir why Maths of class 10+2 is widely different from BSC maths (it gets pure ) whereas physics of Bsc seems to just be an extension of 10+2 Physics .
OH MY GOD. YES. WE NEED THESE VIDEOSSSSS. 🎉
Thanks @youtube to suggest me this video. This video really helped to each student.
Thank you sir, please make a video on Mathematics next

The tips are important because they have germinated from your practical experiences and so I believe that the students will be benefitted by them. That apart, your presentation was very lucid and clear to understand with.

SIr regarding your recommendation of HC Verma Book, i have heard that is it good for physics enthusiasts, but maybe not tailor made for JEE preparation. Is it correct to give priority to coaching material and other jee-specific question books before hc verma?
Yeah
PLEASE ANSWER SIR -
8:16 Sit at this point u mention that make notes after gaining some experience of that topic through question but it conflicts with what my teacher told me, he said that try to make notes during class along with understanding concept to save time please tell me what should i i do and also some teacher told to make seperate copy for questions, should i do this if yes, tell me how to manage it without consuming more time and frustation that happen with me while managing it.

Wah jindal ji wah💀😂
There's nothing to be harmed. Even he promotes the book reading for understanding the concept rather than those just sucking lecs. As far as hcv is concerned everybody knows it that it is not completely sufficient for extremely out of the box adv problems...
Is it okay to solve advanced problems after just completing a module/topic..? Or just the solved examples and thinking questions?
@@Prof_JC Sir who is the author of the book, which you have mentioned?
I guess Pearson @@sandhya5236
