Things that I learnt from this video :- 1. Read by yourself to understand more deeply.
    2. Do postmortem analysis - From Failures :- Try to find the mistakes and Flaws, From Success :- Analyse by what we got the answer.
    3. Take questions as fun ( Higher authorities makes questions as fun for us in exams ).
    4. Make your own questions
    5. Find symmetry in question
    6. Also don't always find symmetry in questions there can be non symmetry and irregularities in questions.
    7. See the beauty of Science
Happy Diwali and Thank you so much Sir❤

@@Prof_JCmentors shd assess what is the core competency Nd talent a student holds and propel him to go further on those instead of holding him responsibility for his drawbacks or shd understand that every persons brain is different.... A person who can't sing can't b made to sing just coz u can make him study 12hrs a day for 20yrs😂😂😂❤❤ that's the funny part of our education..... That essentials comes with the professor himself analysing what he can mentor ❤

i would add set very clear long term goals. for me its to make a certain amount of money. it reminds me constantly "if i dont learn to solve problems, i wont get this money, and if i dont get this amount of money i will be unhappy/failed." so that theres a constant connection in my mind between my long term goal and my short term goal.

the problem is that the students in the grades 6th to 8th often are influenced by their parents and tutors to mug up the theories word to word as in textbooks, the thinking skill isn't developed in them until they get a right mentor/teacher who gives them problems that aren't on textbooks so they've got no choice but to think outside of the textbook using the same concepts but correctly and with consciousness. so unless a thinking habit and curiosity in students is created, there's so much lower chances that a 6th std student might be watching these kind of educational videos and genuinely try to improve

Break the problem into isolated modules and use them as weapons to tackle something new. Each module has a reason to be applied. Try to break the new problem into the pre-existing modules. If you have solved sufficient good questions you will find out all the problems are simply the amalgamation of your pre-learnt modules. This is how I ended up at IIT Kanpur!

everything is available on the Internet and things are moving very fast this is not the time to solve all the questions in copy instead make sure that we try to build things. this is what we are missing, try to make a society where students build projects. we are still wasting a lot of time memorizing things, this way we will never be able to form a society where good products would be made. Learn from other civilization.

I am so glad that your last two videos have been for school children. It is so important to inculcate the scientific thinking early in school. Your point about exploring both the reason for success and failure is on the spot. This is a habit which will be needed not just when one goes to college or research but also in your work place. As a coach, two key questions we ask is what worked for you and what did not work for you. You also very nicely pointed out about not giving up when things do not go your way. About making questions, you gave an example which I could resonate to. I used to teach my younger sister and especially in maths, I used to make up questions for her to practice. I used to do that for myself too since the number of sample questions in a book were limited. And finally you were right on the fact that in doing what you have told you learn about yourself which is critical. Nobody knows you better than your own self. I would like to end by giving my example. I was and still am very bad at mugging up and there were times I would forget formulae. My father used to always tell me to focus on fundamentals. That made me learn the derivations of the formula. This helped me especially in exams when I forgot a formula. There were times when I derived the formula in the exam and then went on to solve the problem. I understand it could be time consuming but I practiced so much that I had enough time to derive the formula and solve it.
P.S. - Even I was told about the story of Gauss when we were being taught the formula = n(n+1)/2

    • @Prof_JC
      @Prof_JC  10 месяцев назад +37

There is a limit to how much you can memorise. So deriving things when needed is an absolutely essential skill to develop. And this is not going to happen without a robust understanding.

I am watching this video in my drop year ( I didn't prepare in 10 + 2, because my parents didn't want to admit me to an offline coaching and I thought it was impossible to prepare on my own, I regret this a little but okay). I feel so sad that , I was part of this education system,it killed my curiosity. Believe me when I say this,as a kid I was very bright and curious,I used to watch space documentaries at the age of watching cartoons. But like majority of the schools i was forced to do rot learning again and again which completely changed my opinion about studies, I lost all of my interest. Now I am sitting here thinking what would have happened if I didn't lose my old self. So my only advice to my little brothers and sisters out there watching this video just like me, dont let your interests die, explore while you can. Dont get overpowered by the system. Search for wonderful videos like this which can actually help you do better both academically and mentally.
    Great video Sir!!

See "How to Solve it" by George Polya.
    1) Introspection (post mortem analysis) helps one to identify what works and what doesn't and most importantly WHY. Over time this builds up a library of common pitfalls or cognitive biases to avoid in future.
    2) Brainstorming helps one to generate different options or approaches to a problem. Also creating hybrid combinations when straightforward methods don't work.
    2) Evaluating each option/branch : Trial and error helps one to unearth and learn more about your opponent ie the problem.
    3) Backtracking to other options/branches.
    4) Comparing branches tried out and organising the feedback gained by grappling with the problem. Using this gained knowledge to prune/eliminate dead end or irrelevant branches drastically filters and reduces wasted effort.
    5) Look deeper into mundane things. Why do they work? Is there a better way to do things ie improve your technique?
    6) Turn it into a game or puzzle that you're trying to work out. Make up your own questions or modify the question to make it different or harder or easier.
Many of the above methods are used in the field of AI heuristics.

I learned you mentioned hc verma is the best book to understand physics … I can declare with confidence that it is no where near the best book to build initial grasp or understanding in physics coming form 10th … it’s a good book for problem solving only .. for starters students first should completely understand their board level NCERT book … then try their hands on he Verma .. but I would recommend Dinesh series books as all the problems have very good explanation and solutions… please guide students in the right path.. starting with hc Verma can cause adverse effect and losing interest in the subject …

This is excellent advice on learning problem solving skills , but I think students still need coaching . Some might be able to coach themselevs, some need a coach but everybody needs to workout for speed and accuracy and to avoid missteps while solving a problem in the test. The only way one can do that is by repetition of the exercises just like in physical exercises.

I completely get what you were trying to say regarding the changing of symmetry which is usually done at the higher level of PhD or above research works.
Recently I published a research paper in a reputed international journal for my PhD study in which I did this and I found an interesting perspective which previous studies missed. The editors and reviewers were quite impressed by it and said that my paper brings some fresh perspective to the table in that field.
I completely agree with your points in this video and a great effort initiated by you to inspire our indian youth to be much better.

I think the fundamental takeaway from this video would be to observe and analyse.
Analyse the pitfalls, wrongs and mistakes to avoid them.
    And
Analyse the successes to repeat them.
    Thank you prof.
I'm looking for your more videoes on genuine advices for students. Even for students who are not in the engineer sector.

Hey sir , I hope this message finds you well. I'm currently navigating a challenging situation regarding my education. I've been attending a Physics Wallah offline coaching center in Kota for class 11, but due to difficulties in understanding the teaching methods, I recently spoke to my father about switching to Physics Wallah online classes for class 12.
I've already committed to the coaching fees (1 lakh for both class 11 and 12) and hostel fees (1.2 lakhs for a year). I live in a hostel in Kota, far from my home in Maharashtra. I just had a conversation with my father, and he's disappointed with my decision. He mentioned that he plans to consult a family astrologer for guidance.
This has added an extra layer of complexity, and I'm not sure how to navigate the situation. Have you or anyone you know ever faced challenges where family decisions intersect with education? Additionally, how would you suggest I approach the astrologer's advice and communicate my decision effectively to my family? Your insights would be immensely helpful. Thank you!"

And before a few days I felt that I am good at those things which had enjoyed while doing them... So I feel I should enjoy doing things in my life which will make me good at everything ❤️

If you want my advice on this.
Then I'll give my few cents,
say if you want to learn something or solve a problem, first learn how it became a problem in the first place or in learning something first find out what was the need of that something that you're learning, how it came to be, who derived it , discovered it and why. Go into that rabbit hole and nothing, like literally nothing in this world will be impossible for you to learn.

This is something really important to be known by a good student.
Many students join tutions when school teaching isn't enough for them. That may help achieve good marks but their is no development in their skills.
Same happened to me also. I wish
I had got this type of guidance atleast in my JEE prearation stage.
This video needs to be seen by all the students who are really seeing forward to study at higher levels.

Persue challenges in active way i.e seek out challenge which isn't at your current level.

Post mortem of problem even if it's solved and if not solved.
Problem posing - asking questions to yourself while solving problems

So in very short try to understand everything from the problem, it's solution, it's fails, yourself thinking about it, and the patience to be there.
Appreciate knowledge as anything can help you solve a problem, solve both lower adn higher level of problems.
Take up a mindset where everything you solve or learn is interconnect to an existing possibilty or something that existed, so you know, just like working out is something like doing construction work, remeber when you were a child and you imagined a "life"?
Cool vid thanks for the PoV, it is indeed helpful.
