I am not sure of the FMCSA restrictions for 16ft box trucks. I'd definitely check FMCSA rules and regulations to see what is needed to move freight and be in compliance. The numbers stated in this video were achieved going OTR in a 16ft box truck. Stay safe and in compliance while on the road running your business. ✌🏿
It’s real talk
Just gotta grind HARD.
My understanding is if you are moving interstate for hire meaning hauling merchandise that you do not own from one state to the next you are required to follow hours of service compliance with ELD. However if he stayed intrastate meaning within his home state of California he could drive all do with no problems. MATA the public transit authority in Memphis, TN; those bus drivers can drive all day as long as they want with no ELD restrictions. But none the less GEMS 💎…BEST RUclips VIDEO EVER!!!
Question.
If the truck has a 10k GVWR, how much actual weight can be carried.
I’m guessing the truck is at least 8k pounds (but not sure), has it ever been scaled empty with a full fuel tank.
That doesn’t leave much room for cargo weight, without going over the GVWR.
Regardless of how many pallets can fit, the weight is likely the limiting factor (for legal purposes).
If it is being overloaded (over GVWR) that is a hefty ticket, if you get pulled and scaled.
And not sure how that would affect the legality of not running logs, and all the other legal requirements for over 10k GVWR - it could turn into a big mess.
And not that they would know, but if they found out it was being run extremely long hours, I’d imagine they would try to throw the book.
If you never get pulled, I guess it doesn’t matter, but as soon as it happens would find out.
Guy I know that runs a bread route was overloaded (over his GVWR), and it was a big ticket (years ago and it was around $2k).
But he is all local and intrastate, so no DOT or log requirements.
And I’m not hating, I’ve risked it a couple times.
I run a bread route (all local).
But I’ve ran some freight for a friend, NC to PA, 18k GVWR truck.
With no DOT #, no logs, and drove non-stop there and back.
But that isn’t my normal business, doing it every day is a lot riskier that eventually you get pulled and are over the GVWR, which could start a chain reaction of other potential violations.
@@brandonharris5927
Last time I checked the intrastate limit was for local deliveries within 150 miles from your beginning location (can travel more than the 150 in a day, just can’t go more than 150 miles away at the furthest distance from your start point).
But it could have changed or I could be off.
I run a local bread route, which was why I checked, to be sure I didn’t need a DOT # or logs.
But if you are under 10k GVWR, I don’t believe you need logs for OTR/interstate.
I have watched some of the sprinter van expediters channels.
They don’t require logs and drive long hours.
Because they are under 10k GVWR.
But they can only fit 2-3 pallets in a sprinter, and the rates aren’t great from what I saw.
My only question with a 10k GVWR box truck, is how much legal weight capacity is left for actual freight, based on the weight of the empty truck.
I would think it would only be maybe 2k pounds or less.
I like his strategy. He is selling space. He is not letting brokers fill up his truck. If you have one box truck or van , you don’t need dispatch
I’m a former Walmart store manager so when he said it’s gonna cost more bc the load says 9 feet but it says two pallets 9 feet is really 3 pallets bc one pallet is 4 feet so 9 is more than two so it’s gonna cost you! It made me think of how Walmart thinks of sales per square foot in their stores! Every little 12 by 12 floor tile is worth so many dollars to Walmart! That guy is genius! 🐐
16 foot under 10,000 pounds he’s basically a sprinter van with more space . There are no FMCSA or DOT regulations at that level . He could run his truck 24 hours if he wanted, I wouldn’t recommend it but he could. He’s in a unique space and he’s making it work. Love the hustle game , keep killing them King 👑🦾
@@chloeconniecarlton328 99999 pounds ??? 🤣🤣🤣 That's 89,999 more pounds than we are talking about !!! Lol 😆 Are you good at math ? I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, you meant to say why stop at 9,999 pounds Lol 😆 If you go to FMCSA Regulations it CLEARLY states ONLY vehicles 10,001 pounds or more are subject to FMCSA regulations. He CLEARLY stated he's UNDER 10,000 pounds. He IS NOT subject to FMCSA regulations or needs an ELD . The DOT website says vehicles under 10,000 pounds DO NOT require a US DOT number. Google is your friend 🤷♂️
Hm ...I may have to start looking into 16fters now..lbs-- it makes sense especially with how scarce the 26fters are as well as gas prices.
@@chloeconniecarlton328 Not all 16 foot box trucks/vans have the same specs. There are several that are rated under 10k and can still have 4-5k load without going over. These trucks generally aren’t going to have the longevity of your more heavy duty commercial rigs but they also have the benefit of being cheaper on insurance, fuel, cost of the vehicle, bypassing weigh stations, and not being limited in hours (I personally like to sleep in 3-5 hour breaks).
@@chloeconniecarlton328 shut up
@Alex Austin he's 10000 with out a load he's over with a load . His truck weight is 9999.00 with a load his probably running 11k-15k pounds on his ass he's risking it unless it's small loads
Here’s the sauce. He’s exempt from ELD & weigh stations cuz he’s under 10k pounds. Grabs semi loads for 53fters that are small in size or less in pallets but high weight. He’s packing his truck fat & just duckin the weigh station cuz he can. Driving 17 hours a day. It’s low key genius
Appreciate the breakdown.

Love this video.. it motives me. Shout out
Y'all don't keep in mind what state he is from lol. California is not a state to play games in all y'all know that. I am in Texas and the companies told me 16ft box truck is no eld. They treat it as a sprinter van with more space. But when I load to max capacity and I'm conducting business for commercial use I should be required to have DOT number...so basically you are in a huge grey area that's not specifically defined and companies near me use it like a sprinter with more room..one company said I wouldn't go over 150 miles too so yes two different companies two different ways of interpretation of the local and federal law requirements..so to each their own. Im just saying don't get caught overweight anywhere especially in California. Which I'm sure I could honestly get away with for a hot minute.
The universe sent me this video. Thank you both.
Its not the universe, its the algorithm 😅

Hey Vikk can you do something for cargo van.?what to get into game but can't afford box truck at the moment .or do you know of another trust worthy RUclips as yourself how does cargo van?
Does fuel treatment work for gas and/or diesel vehicles? Is it ok for your engine?
Definitely a hustler!
What is DOT regulations for box trucks? A box truck will require a DOT number if it weighs over 10,000 pounds and/or if it is used commercially interstate. It is required that the DOT number be placed on the power unit of the truck and it should be visible from 50 feet away.

Yo BIGG Vic, I’m straight off a year long military mission. I’m tryna go straight into box trucking but I wanna make sure my steps are in order.
So how would I go about getting my class b commercial license?
I’m in the non cdl trucking space. You’d have to Google that class B cdl info.
1st step is to take practice exam online
For class B and air brake test after you feel comfortable enough and know all your materials head to RMV get your permit after you pass take like 6 lessons with professional school and that would sponsor you to use their truck for your road test and off you go..
what up Big Vic and Jerry I got me a 16 and about to kill next its on and i cant wait Look out for MRT Mcnara Riley Transport LLC youtube channel next

To my understanding if your under 10k gvwr you don’t need ELD but if you leave your domicile area meaning your house must return within 12 hrs back home this cross country sounds sketchy to me don’t want to be in his shoes if something happens on the road
My flatbed truck is 14k gvwr max load is around 6k I try to stay around 5k
@@multi-transportationsystem11
I believe that’s correct.
But if he has his truck rated at 10k, I can’t see him having much legal cargo weight capacity left with the weight of his truck/box/fuel.
If I had to guess, he is well over 10k pounds when loaded on many/most runs.
And that by itself would be a nasty ticket if caught.
But then throw in that he is also likely using the GVWR to avoid logs and driving extra hours, but running over his weight limit, I don’t know how that gets handled by DOT.
His truck can probably safely physically handle the weight, and is probably underrated at 10k for what it can actually haul.
But is probably sidestepping the the legal/DOT requirements by going over the GVWR when loaded.
In NC you can de-rate your GVWR to under the manufacturers ratings, when you register it.
And a dump trailer rental channel I watch, said some of the dump trailer manufacturers will de-rate their trailers on the placard from the factory, if a customer requests -usually to avoid CDL requirements when combined with whatever truck they own (GCVWR).
But the downside is you can only legally load up to what you have it rated for.
I wish he actually gave up some game on his channel. He just laod his truck and drive to his delivery point
Pretty much 🤣
So on average the 16ft box trucks still max out at under 5k payload. Even though you don't have to stop at weigh stations. If your overweight your still a Dot/mc so 🤷 do you risk it.
What options does one have to get a truck with little money / bad credit?
This information being in the hands of a young ambitious black man like me, is the equivalent of me having the remote to a nuke 😂🔥. Thank you Vicc In a year or so I will make sure I credit you every time 💯.

Canada or Mexico? I'm curious why not, so I'll know better when I get out there, because I actually saw a run for over 12K on the DAT load board going to Canada and on one of my driveway runs I was right there at the Canada entry point.
