@@YayoHernandez-b1j I see what you're saying, unfortunately leveling up like Rey doesn't work well in story telling. But it's always nice to think about if Anakin never fell to the dark side.
Deep down I believe that Sidious perhaps saw even more potential in Anakin now more than ever in the Dark Side, sure Anakin lost most of his raw power of the Force Power, but now as Lord Vader he becomes a embodiment of the Dark Side.
Agreed! I always believed that Palpatine 'cared about' Anakin because he reminded him of himself as a young frustrated 'talent' surrounded by non understanding 'lower orders'. He was thus really just loving himself via self sympathy. He also realized Vader could be his 'dog' and thus useful still, if in a vastly diminished state.
I'm inclined to think that Palpatine was, for the most part, heartless, and he only kept Vader around for what usefulness he had, but there was, occasionally, a little more there, as he didn't just replace him. Obviously, the Emperor wasn't likely to find another individual as powerful in potential as Anakin had been; we need video game fan service, like Galen Marek, from Force Unleashed, for that, but once the big conflict was over, it could be argued that Palpatine didn't NEED another individual of that magnitude, whom he'd also have to watch for, because he'd backstabbing, so why wouldn't he expect his student to? In this case, he could have killed Vader, and just groomed someone else for the roles that person would need to do, which wouldn't require monstrous might, but he didn't. On a side note, I had a weird thought for a video. Obviously, Return of the Jedi is older than most content, and people have had literally decades to dissect the messages within it, penned by Lucas' own hand, but the penultimate showdown between Luke, Vader, and the Emperor; what really was the plan, there? Obviously, Vader knew the three couldn't ally; someone wasn't going to live through the encounter, but Luke was still not truly mighty, and Vader knew he couldn't beat Sidious, ad things had been put in place specifically to prevent it. Vader defended the Emperor, but knew the Emperor sought to now get rid of him. Still, he brought Luke before the Emperor, instead of formulating a way they could best the aging monarch. If Vader had killed Luke, nothing would have changed, but he wasn't ready to just die, and let Palpatine and Luke crush the galaxy. Meanwhile, Luke might've been just waiting for thecsystion to blow up, taking all three of them with it, and TRULY bringing balance to the Force. What was everyone's actual plans, as Palpatine and Vader were literally setting each other up for downfall throughout the whole film?
“I was pleased that when Anakin is almost brutally destroyed, Palpatine is relived to not only find him alive but also because he is Anakin Skywalker. There is one moment that George scripted in a rather casual way where I touch Anakin’s forehead. I think that’s really the only human moment we see from Palpatine-just a moment of sympathy and compassion for another human being. Not the usual ingredients of the Sith.” Ian McDiarmid--- Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga: The Official Movie Companion
I'd have to disagree Palpatine didn't care about Vader or Anakin, him working so hard to ensure Vader's survival and to tutor him it's because at least in legends Palpatine had to of known of Scion and Malgius, so he knew the kind of power the dark side could give Vader.
I agree there wasn't any sort of love between the two. I'm not sure I agree there was even any caring at all. Palpatine needed the strongest Sith. Darth Plagueis provided an early lesson in having human attachments, when Palpatine was ordered to have one of his close friends murdered. If Palpatine was going to complete everything he wanted to do, he would need the strongest Sith to be his apprentice to do his bidding and undertake other issues. If another came along who could best Vader, Palpatine wouldn't save Vader from this fate. As we learn from the novels, each is all the other had. Id argue to say, Vader agitated Palpatine, as Vader often went too far and caused too much damage; where Palpatine would have to undertake time and effort in smoothing things over, which would interrupt other projects. Almost to the point, where it seemed Palpatine would impart a gift or project just to give Vader something to do where he could cause no damage. Hoping Vader would grow an interest which would get him to forget his past attachments.
I think Sidious was more pragmatic and heartless. I think he viewed Anakin as a potential vessel he could transfer himself into when the time came, the most powerful vessel he could obtain.
_"Choose someone as a successor and you will inevitably be succeeded._ _Choose someone hungrier and you will be devoured._ _Choose someone quicker and you won't dodge the blade at your back._ _Choose someone with more patience and you won't block the blade at your throat._ _Choose someone more devious and you'll hold the blade that kills you._ _Choose someone more clever and you'll never know your end._ _Despite these cautions, an apprentice is essential. A Master without an apprentice is a Master of nothing."_ ―Darth Sidious on selecting Sith apprentices _"Of all the monsters I have created, I still regard Darth Vader as something of a minor masterpiece. No, he was not an entirely alchemical creation, but he was my monster nevertheless. Even though he failed to live up to his full potential, there was much pleasure in transforming Anakin Skywalker from a bright-eyed, tousle-headed youth into the greatest Jedi killer of all time. Yes, he ultimately turned against his Master, as monsters sometimes do, but that was my fault, not his. Given the opportunity to create Vader again, I would, and with zeal."_ ―Text from The Creation of Monsters Palpatine, essentially, saw Darth Vader as his masterpiece and proof of his (and the Sith's) ultimate triumph. He not only corrupted the Chosen One himself to his will, but made it so that he's forever under his heel. Anakin's life and Fall itself are also the greatest living proof of the Jedi's inherent flaws and weaknesses that led to their destruction. In sum, Palpatine's "love" for Anakin/Vader is as narcissistic and self-serving as every other emotion of his. His lessons and challenges for Vader to excel are as much about making sure his greatest weapon and creation is kept sharp and honed as much as it is about glorifying himself. It's the same kind of "love" Firelord Ozai had for Azula, or Medusa Gorgon for Crona (in the manga, at least) or All For One has for Tomura Shigaraki. He loves Anakin not as a son, an apprentice or even a person, but as a living monument to his own triumphs that continues to mock the Jedi and please Palpatine just by existing.
I completely agree with you. That quote is actually pretty good, and pretty deep. Palps loves Anakin as a peice of art, not as a human. And he doesn't feel empathy towards him, he just somewhat relates because they were both disregarded with insane potential.
I would say that he did somewhat care for him cause he spent decades grooming him to be his apprentice. He even felt a smidge disappointed that he had to throw him away.
Looking at Palps, the one person he had anything even close to love for was probably Anakin. Likewise the one person he ever held any real respect and gratitude for was probably Darth Plagueis who he did actually consider to be both wise and powerful (Albeit blind to the threat Palps himself posed)
That's why I think "the rule of two" is STUPID! Imagine how devastating sidious would have been if he kept vader as his #1 but also had grievous dooku and maul also by his side to each take a seperate part of the war. It makes more sense than putting the whole load on vader and a hand full of generals and moffs.
Sith always seek power. The rule of 2 was created because often times sith would turn on each other or weaker sith would ally to bring down stronger lords. The sith came close to conquering the galaxy and destroying the Jedi on several occasions but always fell short and destroyed themselves through in fighting. The rule of 2 removed that cycle.
If you can't see the practical necessity of the Rule of Two for the long-term survival of the Sith Order,, then you lack a fundamental understanding of how the dark side works.
@@user-ko3vg7fc7othey would’ve killed palpatine ventress and grievous would’ve sided with dooku maul and anakin would side with palpatine making a new sith war
I completely agree. But you'll have a hard time convincing the fanboy nerds who can only imagine Palpatine as a one-dimensional villain that only cares about power and being evil. Look at history, some of the most evil characters have been able to love other individuals, even if in their own wicked way.
If he loved him so much why didn't he clone Anakin so he could use the arms and legs of the clone to repair Anakin's missing limbs. But keep his lungs still damaged
In Legends Anakin/Vader before the delimbing and burnings was suppose to eventually surpass Sidious And Yoda in power if he reached his full or near entire or entirety potents while Galen/Starkiller at full count was meant to be Sidious exact tier when it came to potential so clearly both higher then suited Anakin/Vader and then Luke was meant to possibly surpass Sidious if he joined or so yeah.
It's it simply possible that Palpatine saved and trained Vader because Palpatine couldn't admit to himself that he messed up. All that planning and he couldn't keep his golden boy from being dismembered and deep fried. He wanted his apprentice to use his anger, but didn't keep him on a tight enough leash.
If there was any love there, it was for his power. That's it. Hence why when he lost his limbs, then went into a pit of despair and self loathing he turned completely on him. He saw that potential of power was completely gone, and so was any actual care for him.
Darth sidious may have seen Vader as an equal but I think for sidious he enjoyed corrupting Anakin maybe the same way he was destroying his innocences watching him kill and making him into Vader like victor frakinsteins monster and worse yet the devil in a manner of speaking
Siddious was weak by not letting anakin die upon seeing anakin's burnt remains of his body instead. Siddious saved the useless body of anakin and gave him a painful mechanical body to keep him alive in a vain attempt to make Vader as powerful as he once was, which was a fools errand. Siddious blindly wanted to believe Vader could overcome the mental blocks that kept him from being as strong with the darkside of the force that Vader was incapable of ever reaching.
He kept him because he was still the 3rd strongest force user in the Galaxy after his defeat , behind only Yoda and Sidious himself, Vader in the suit still reached 80% of Sidious’ power
5:47 the second that I heard potions and rituals I imagined a few clone troopers that were used to take their life essence and prolong Vader in the travel back to the capital.
In the legends book “Clone Wars: Gambit” Palpatine says the quote for Anakin: “Show me Anakin, my true apprentice. Show me the son of my heart.” For context, Anakin and Obi-Wan were trapped in an insignificant planet and Sidious was trying to feel Anakin’s presence
It was more like a father figure to Anakin, since Qui-Gon is out of the picture. Even if Anakin said that Obi-Wan is like a mentor and a father, but Obi-Wan was always like a brother to him, Obi-Wan tried to warn Anakin about Emperor Palpatine's friendship. But as the saying goes, he was more like a child . Now Anakin AKA Darth Vader found out that the person who has been like a father figure is taking advantage of him and now he's just played Toy. And the people that he lost fade away like dust in the air.
palpatine kept vader alive for one reason, gaining an empire and keeping it are 2 different things. So to say that vader had done his job and therefore has no more use is wrong. also if he were to let him die he would've had to train someone else and even tho vader was a shadow of his former self you'd be hard pressed to find anyone that was as powerful as him.
It was just Anakin and his abilities that Sidious was interested in. Like Obiwan told Luke that it was him and his abilities that the emperor was interested in.
I assume no sentien being is above the desire to communicate. Having people who to some degree can understand him. And there was no one besides Vader. I guess Sidious, even without any goodness within him, could not entirely overcome the human need for a sort of companion, and if he had lost Vader, there would have only be underlings left.
I think Vader just plain ol' _vexxed_ Palpatine. He couldn't break Vader's stubborness to not follow his advice nor could he throw down a challenge that could stop him. I think Palpatine knew that if Vader took his advice and threw off his baggage, he'd become the Super power that The Emperor always said he'd become. So, it was kind of a win/win for Vader's Master. It was something to amuse the Emperor trying to "crack" thru Vader's think skull and if kept trying he probably would score that "Royal Flush" that had so far eluded him. \m/
this is the way I see it Palpatine was a sergeant father figure, just Ob-Won was as sergeant older brother to Anakin. At the end brothers must clash....as in the Hilgh lander their can only be one.
Palpatine’s goal was to always have Anakin succeed him as a potential equal bkuz there were no other force user who could match him except Yoda who rivaled him in the light side who could never be corrupted, so what better way than to corrupt the Chosen One to fulfill the Sith’s grand plan if Anakin had won his duel against Kenobi untouched with his potential still in tact that would’ve likely been the case for Vader to become the most powerful being in the galaxy which Palpatine always wanted
I don't think he cared for vader at all. It was just the situation. When anakin burnt and went into the suit he was 80% of palatines power, still weaker than palpatine, but still stronger than anyone else he could find. It was that irritating sweet spot he was too weak to replace palatine but still too strong to be replaced by someone else. And that is proven when luke came along he was happy for vader to be killed by him. That's not someone who cares, that's someone just trying to make the best of that situation.
Love is not a right word or even father figure. Because of qui gon jinn and Kenobi, story of The one spread everywhere. Palpatine was known to be aware of everything especially when it comes to Jedis. He used Anakin irritation towards Jedi council as he believed they treated him less. Palpatine happened to be at the right place at the right time. It was simply a matter of time when Anakins irritation turned into hate even without palpatine. What Palpatine did was to mold that anger into a point where he destroyed everything. He helped him become Vader and used him the way he wanted. If you want to call it love or father figure than be it,.
The only time we ever see Anakin defeat Kenobi on Mustafar is in ROTS video game after that he kills Sidious succeeding him as the new Sith and Emperor
Palpatine is definitely powerful" but NOT enough to kill Vader, like Vader doesn't have a 27,000 midiclorian count per cell. Vader is definitely powerful in The Force (it's just that simple), and Palpatine simply isn't able to kill him. Palpatine's irony!🤓
I don't think Palpatine really loved or cared about Anakin, I don't think he truly loved anyone, he was not capable of love. He saw Anakin as nothing more than an asset. A tool to keep the Sith going for a long time and to be ultra powerful. He wanted him for his power. Even when he was maimed and burned he was still powerful and could be useful, otherwise Palpatine would have left him to die. He stood there with a shit eating grin while Anakin screamed in pain over Padme's death. Then later on he was ready to replace him with Luke in a heartbeat.
Sidous probably had nobody to replace vader. Vader's anger and the physical pain of his wounds would make him stronger in the force. And concerning the Snoke experiments, Sidious could essentially transfer vader's power without taking over his body.
Also, if ever the jedi survived, sidous would have a shield. He would also have a powerful force weilding general to hunt down rebels. Vader would be indebted to sidious, and the bond between them would grow stronger. Less like,y that vader will rebel against sidous. Sidous is a genius and a master manipulator.
Darth Sidious conquered the galaxy. Very little to no opposition to his rule was present. I agree with most of the video but without Darth Vader as project he had little else to do. 🤷🏿😂
Beyond studying the Force and discovering lost secrets of the Dark Side! Vader was also useful for keeping Imperials who might try to supplant the Emperor in check as he had a habit of eliminating threats to the Emperor & himself! I like the idea that in his own way, Palpatine had some attachment to Anakin/Vader!
Love is a stretch. Palpatine wanted an equal to create something as good if not better than himself but after mustafar vader was nothing but a minion to him and palpatines biggest disappointment
He loved Anakin in a similar way that the Joker loves Batman. Obviously it’s not genuine love by any stretch of the imagination but considering the way Palpatine is and the way he was raised he might believe it’s love.
It's old palps family fault that he turned out the way he did. If they would have done things better or sent him to the Jedi then he may have turned out better
Pretty sure Anakin was born because of the force. He definitely wasn't palps son. Like Jesus, Anakin was born because of the force, not a human entity.
Terrifying prospect athiugh it would explain why he didn’t kill him after moustafar. Also why he never suspected Vader would turn on him and throw him into the death star shaft
If I was him I wouldn't have that shaft in my office. Nor would I work so close to a very easily breakable window( even if it was bulletproof, force users can probably destroy it). But idk I rather have a safe work environment though his ego probably made him not give a fuck.
If Sidious followed his instincts and left Vader to die his son Luke would've been in terrible danger as a result he Would've 1. Got force eletrocuted to death. or 2. Turn Luke to the dark side and put the whole galaxy in peril.
Leia didn't love Vader. Nor did palps. Palps used Vader as a tool. Palps loved Vader as much as a cop loved his gun. Was for business, nothing more, nothing less.
Palpatine didn't love anybody! He killed his father, mother, sister and brother, his whole family! Vader was nothing more than a tool for Palpatine like Maul and Dooku!

No. Anakin was created by the force, not Palps. And the force is above Palps, and probably helped fine tune the Canon destiny, for Vader to destroy both sides of the force.

@@bullbear7897 but still, we all want to see what if a Anakin was trained by the force itself by fantasy folklore 🤙
@@YayoHernandez-b1j right, that and full potential Anakin 💯
@@bullbear7897 but you can agree that if Anakin Skywalker was trained by the force itself he would reach his full potential early quick faster be with padme, save his mother and also fulfill the prophecy of the chosen one destined to bring balance to the force
@@YayoHernandez-b1j I see what you're saying, unfortunately leveling up like Rey doesn't work well in story telling. But it's always nice to think about if Anakin never fell to the dark side.
Mahn this reminds me of Star Wars
Deep down I believe that Sidious perhaps saw even more potential in Anakin now more than ever in the Dark Side, sure Anakin lost most of his raw power of the Force Power, but now as Lord Vader he becomes a embodiment of the Dark Side.
This video explains Star Wars and the characters perfectly

Lmao I’m sorry! I’m sorry! 😂🤣😭💀
Not the usual ingredients of the Sith.”
Ian McDiarmid---
Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga:
The Official Movie Companion
Was that the actor who played palps? That is indeed probably the only human thing palps did.
Sidious slouched in the chair in his office muttering to himself over how he empathizes with Obi Wan while drinking whiskey
I think Sidious was more pragmatic and heartless. I think he viewed Anakin as a potential vessel he could transfer himself into when the time came, the most powerful vessel he could obtain.
Its basically Orochimaru and Sauske

―Darth Sidious on selecting Sith apprentices
_"Of all the monsters I have created, I still regard Darth Vader as something of a minor masterpiece. Given the opportunity to create Vader again, I would, and with zeal."_
―Text from The Creation of Monsters
Palpatine, essentially, saw Darth Vader as his masterpiece and proof of his (and the Sith's) ultimate triumph.
Awww palps is a good father figure
Indeed, and the proof is in the pudding. Once gone, the chain was broken entirely.
If you can't see the practical necessity of the Rule of Two for the long-term survival of the Sith Order,, then you lack a fundamental understanding of how the dark side works.
@@Randy-yf2sv I'd say let them kill eachother! But only after my goals for the galaxy were achieved! ....if I were emperor I mean
This is not how the force works
Because it was punishment and gave him scars to draw on in the force.the dark side is pain high tolerance you must need
@@CollectionLearning. But what about Palpatine Mk2, Starkiller & his cloned others? 🤷🏻♂️✌🏻
Because Anakin was better, he wasn't an weakling and was able to live in pain like he did, Palpatine viewed Anakin as an equal.
He loved him but didn't want him to succeed enough to try that
In Legends Anakin/Vader before the delimbing and burnings was suppose to eventually surpass Sidious And Yoda in power if he reached his full or near entire or entirety potents while Galen/Starkiller at full count was meant to be Sidious exact tier when it came to potential so clearly both higher then suited Anakin/Vader and then Luke was meant to possibly surpass Sidious if he joined or so yeah.
So basically palps a groomer. Groomed the child to take his body... Wow thats incredibly dark.
The relationship between Palpatine and Vader is my favorite in all of Star Wars
Anakin almost always called him, "excellency" in TCW show.
“I love you.”
*Tortures him*
It's it simply possible that Palpatine saved and trained Vader because Palpatine couldn't admit to himself that he messed up. All that planning and he couldn't keep his golden boy from being dismembered and deep fried. He wanted his apprentice to use his anger, but didn't keep him on a tight enough leash.
*Force lightning strikes Vader*
Palpatine: YOU THINK I WANNA HURT YOUUU!? I love you Vader!
If there was any love there, it was for his power. That's it. Hence why when he lost his limbs, then went into a pit of despair and self loathing he turned completely on him. He saw that potential of power was completely gone, and so was any actual care for him.
Yeah this is a very interesting character study. Nice video.
Darth sidious may have seen Vader as an equal but I think for sidious he enjoyed corrupting Anakin maybe the same way he was destroying his innocences watching him kill and making him into Vader like victor frakinsteins monster and worse yet the devil in a manner of speaking
I think it’s insinuated that he had friends throughout the galaxy with the higher ups.
Love is a weakness that a Sith Master cannot afford .
In the legends book “Clone Wars: Gambit” Palpatine says the quote for Anakin:
“Show me Anakin, my true apprentice. Show me the son of my heart.”
For context, Anakin and Obi-Wan were trapped in an insignificant planet and Sidious was trying to feel Anakin’s presence
And the people that he lost
fade away like dust in the air.
Sidious doesn't know what Love is! He is a sociopath
palpatine kept vader alive for one reason, gaining an empire and keeping it are 2 different things. So to say that vader had done his job and therefore has no more use is wrong. also if he were to let him die he would've had to train someone else and even tho vader was a shadow of his former self you'd be hard pressed to find anyone that was as powerful as him.
This will be an interesting what if what if Palpatine let Vader to die
Very good!
It was just Anakin and his abilities that Sidious was interested in. Like Obiwan told Luke that it was him and his abilities that the emperor was interested in.
Qui gon stabbed like Sabine, dead.
Maul cut in half, alive and crazy. Smh
He probably enjoyed talking to someone.
There’s actually lots of oxygen in space, relative to the size of a human heart
Order 66 had been a smashing success 😂 that’s one way of putting it.
Can you imagine if Vader actually took the wording of Palpatine to hear and focus on the Dark Side.
How much power would Vader go with it?
I assume no sentien being is above the desire to communicate. Having people who to some degree can understand him. And there was no one besides Vader. I guess Sidious, even without any goodness within him, could not entirely overcome the human need for a sort of companion, and if he had lost Vader, there would have only be underlings left.
"Threaten him within an inch of his life to be more optimistic" - only real homies understand
I subscribed to your new channel I love horror films 🤘🏻
Palpatine’s goal was to always have Anakin succeed him as a potential equal bkuz there were no other force user who could match him except Yoda who rivaled him in the light side who could never be corrupted, so what better way than to corrupt the Chosen One to fulfill the Sith’s grand plan if Anakin had won his duel against Kenobi untouched with his potential still in tact that would’ve likely been the case for Vader to become the most powerful being in the galaxy which Palpatine always wanted
Great video.
Rule of two. And ends for the two.
The problem was there still wasn’t anyone stronger who are you going too get maul .
"...Go for papa Palpatine!"
So Palpatine wanted to “Orochimaru” Anakin like he was Sasuke
I don't think Palpatine really loved or cared about Anakin, I don't think he truly loved anyone, he was not capable of love. He saw Anakin as nothing more than an asset. A tool to keep the Sith going for a long time and to be ultra powerful. He wanted him for his power. Even when he was maimed and burned he was still powerful and could be useful, otherwise Palpatine would have left him to die. He stood there with a shit eating grin while Anakin screamed in pain over Padme's death. Then later on he was ready to replace him with Luke in a heartbeat.
palpatine never loved anyone other than himself
Sheev Palpatine was incapable of love. Or anything even remotely resembling it. The most he could manage was respect.
And no, do not have access to the comics, and do not much care for added content.
I wonder how Much More Powerful would Vader be if he did Not Try to Kill His Subordinates at every turn
Aww man!
why'd ya have to add the evil face from the original excorsist?
THAT MOVIE SCARED THE SHIT OUT OF ME WHEN I WAS 14... 😫😫
I think Palpatine would have reached the apex of joy as a Sith if an uninjured Anakin was able to usurp him and steal his place as a Sith Master.
Hey stupendous what’s the music that’s used in the video? it’s very 👍🏽
Papls was having a bromance with annie
By the time of Return of the Jedi
Lastly it goes WITH saying - Palpy IS vadars blood DAD right? I think that's the answer simple as it seems(:
Got force eletrocuted to death. or 2. Turn Luke to the dark side and put the whole galaxy in peril.
palpatine and padmae and his mother were the true ones that loved him and his son luke and leia
Leia didn't love Vader. Nor did palps. Palps used Vader as a tool. Palps loved Vader as much as a cop loved his gun. Was for business, nothing more, nothing less.
What is the song used in the first half of the video
Palpatine didn't love anybody! He killed his father, mother, sister and brother, his whole family! Vader was nothing more than a tool for Palpatine like Maul and Dooku!
he made him with his master so its pride not love
Dunno if "loved" would be the right word here... if Palpatine loved anything... apparently it was power and the Darkside. An he probably told each they was the only one when the opposite wasn't there too.
Sideous being whom he was coulda EASILY set out to save him just as narrated to make him suffer for failure IN PUNISHMENT. An perhaps even trying an determination to get Vader to give something Palpatine felt owed to him maybe an to do that, Vader had to be alive an functional
Anakin/ Vader had the only thing needed: plot armor 😂
Isn't there suspicion that palpatine in fact created anakin using the force. That's why Schmi said there was no father.
No. Anakin was created by the force, not Palps. And the force is above Palps, and probably helped fine tune the Canon destiny, for Vader to destroy both sides of the force.
@@eobardthawn6903 You obviously need to go back and watch the movies
If he really loved anakin, he would’ve cloned his body and force transferred his essence into it. Come to think of it, why didn’t anakin try to ever figure that out for himself?
this is not really canon
