Hey Ray, you know if you put citronella in that SD50's smoke unit and fire it up outside it'd do a great job keeping the bugs away when you have folks over for a cook-out! Wow, what a smoker! 🤣🤣🤣 SEriously, that's a good-lookin' engine! Best of luck with it! Oh, for the color difference between the SD50 and the switcher? Just say the switcher's been out in the yard for a few years and the paint's faded! Thanks for shring it with us!
I was a Special Agent for Conrail for 5 years in Chicago. I left to go elsewhere when we got stuck going to the NS after the breakup. Jagoff outfit NS.....I miss Conrail.Retired as a Municipal Officer as I had time before Conrail position.
Very nice, Ray! Those were pretty good units, once the bugs were worked out of them. I got to run quite a few, during my career and they were decent runners. As for the colors, you can chalk up the difference to age. I always found, too, that the big, GE's would fade quite a bit, over time, compared to the EMD locomotives, so color varied somewhat between locomotives, over the years. Either way, that is one nice locomotive, for sure. An excellent review and video, as always.
Nice addition Ray! Gotta love Conrail! Looks like a good runner and a great smoker. I just wonder about the color not matching the switcher. My Dad said he heard that Conrail had two different shades of blue briefly, but we're not sure. Have to ask Dakman! - Ryan
No surprise that the two engines have different shades of blue paint. Just look at it as the switcher has been faded more by the sun. The SD50 is quite the smoker.
I'm sorry Ray......I'm not impressed....it looks too plane...... no small details that stand out....besides I know this engine cost a lot of mony....ey....that's why I switch to HO......
OH THAT'S A GREAT LOOKING ENGINE RAY. WELCOME TO THE SD50 FAMILY. GOOD LUCK WITH IT. 🙂👍👍

Looks like your moving some real freight tonnage with a strong smoke unit on that conrail
Big Blue Beast!!
Ray, you need to back a superbase up to that. I have that pair of Conrails and I love them.
@@donpeck4347 I agree with you Don but wait til you see what I got for next week, kinda wiped me out lol
I’m kinda getting tired of Lionel NOT GETTING THE COLORS RIGHT! MTH was always spot on!
You need to get Reading 2102 at York lol you could bring it to see the real one
👍
The inner track loco looks slightly longer than the Conrail. Is it?
@@oldmanjimh3165 yes it is
Really thinking about getting one of these. What's the radius of your outer loop?
@@kiscofallsrailroad outer is 72 inner is 60
Unless it’s black, it will be painted wrong!
I'd expect a nicer looking turntable to show-off those masterpieces!
@@oldmanjimh3165 lol ur right Jim I need to get on it
