MY my....I am age 71, and I do think this is the first time I have heard this work. And a wonderful work it is. Thank you for uploading this.
I'm 81 and hearing it for the first time!
You've got about two years on me, but we have been in the dark equally long on this!
From 13:44 - 15:30 is so beautiful, it love, ts devout its earnest, its like coming home. So tender, so gentle, what writing. Absolutely sublime.
Such a sublime piece. I keep coming back to it over and over and over again -
Me too,divine work and interpretation!!!

Respighi = Heartbeat For Beauty ❤️
Seems that by the dated comments that not that many people listen to this sublime composition. As a subscriber to your channel, please continue! I thank you for uploading the many neglected works of the repertoire that I certainly love and appreciate.
7:56 - 8:06 the magical moment when all of the hard work finally manifests into a miracle
Amazing composition! I love where Respighi's music takes me emotionally!
The great Respighi!!!!
How wonderful💗
perfettamente d'accordo.
Well, death eventually stopped him. Sadly, Respighi died way too young. Such a loss!
Wonderfully played; what energy from 17.40 on!
Many beautiful and captivating moments here but as a whole this seems a rambling and unconvincing work. You have to admire Respighi's swagger, flair and bravado though, even when he seemingly has no idea of where to go next. Apart from the full-blooded and exciting piano writing (kudos to the late Tozer), IMO the best part here is the slow middle section, a thing of great and sincere beauty.
Mesmerizing beauty💙💙💙
Sublime is the Word!!
Thank you. :D
amidst the cacophonic Modern movement Respighi made exciting melodic music
This piece and the painting reminds me of the crime of sin, the soul contrite and dammed... but through much work its eternal love - God forgives and the soul returns triumphant back into its place of origin and departure. Superb!!
15:40 from there on so beautiful.
I agree totally, drunken from that music!
5:00 amazing
god damn this shit goes hard
nice
I just have to agree!!

Like many a fan & not heard? Reasons often not heard mean unpopular, & can see why? Near 18 mins of neo- Bach dotted récit pastiche which wanders endlessly in stop & start quasi cadenza minor with dim 7th arpeggios done to death without settlement to a tune or new tempo is hard to sit through. Once we do move to an animated toccata type section we soon hear chords in the strings exactly the same as in The Pines of Rome. 3rd move. This is a rather "stuck in on a rainy day with nothing else to do" composition by him, otherwise it would have been recorded more & circulated & programmed more therefore we'd know it?
I agree with most of what you are saying. The first half of the piece is indeed quite hard to sit through. The slow middle part is probably the best part of the piece, while the final part seems to lack direction, consistency and thematic material, despite the energetic pace, dynamic contrasts, and ambitious piano part.
Respighi's orchestration is of course great as always, which isn't surprising, since he was a pupil of the great Rimsky-Korsakov.
The Toccata certainly isn't one of Respighi's masterpieces, but it's still an interesting work i.m.h.o., because of the pretty middle part and the optimistic ending of the piece.
Эта токката чуть чуть не дотягивает по силе воздействия на психику человека в сравнении с майскими указами Путина.
there's a lot of Scriabin in this piece...wonderful though...
horrid recording
