"Something is wrong," I muttered as I swept through the dividing curtain into my sweetheart's office. He sat slouched in his chair, a half-eaten pear in his hand.
"Hello, lovely," he greeted, smiling easily.
"Hello, Mack." I glanced at the papers flung wildly around the room-- this wasn't like him; not one bit. "Is something wrong?"
"Not at all. In fact, in a few minutes, all will be perfectly well."
His serene tone sent a chill down my spine. Just the day before, he had been nearly hysterical as he searched for the money he owed Dr. Benton. We both well knew that if he couldn't find it, she and her friends wouldn't exactly forgive him.
"So, you found the money?"
He grinned lazily. "No, but then I realized I had something even better to offer Dr. Benton and her colleagues."
"And what is that?" I asked, a chill settling in my stomach.
He didn't answer for a moment, just stood up and tossed the pear on the floor. I stared at the fallen fruit, trying to decipher what was going on.
Finally, he approached me and grabbed my waist, pulling me in for a kiss. It had been awhile since he had kissed me like this; gentle, soft, loving. When he finally pulled away, I smiled softly, cupping his cheek in my palm. "You sure are feeling better, aren't you? What was that for?"
His fingers slid off my waist as he took a step back, and he clasped his hands together behind him. "That was goodbye."
My smile slipped from my face. "What do you mean?" When he didn't respond, I stepped forward, causing him to retreat a pace. "Mack, what do you mean?"
His eyes turned to something behind me, and I spun to see Dr. Benton there. "Hello, Savannah. It's a pleasure to meet you."
I stumbled away from them both, feeling my breath rising. "What do you want? Mack?" He smiled at my desperation.
"I'm sure Mack has told you about all of my medical advancements I've been able to make over the past few years," the Doctor mused. "But I'm not sure he explained just how I've done it. You see, most of my techniques wouldn't get past the Hippocratic Oath for anything. That's why I must receive volunteers from time to time to help out. And you, my dear," she continued, chucking me under my chin, "are my latest volunteer."

The man lies broken within the dingy cell of a dungeon deep within the earth, bleeding flesh pressed again the cold brick floor. The walls echoes with cries of torment and pain, yet from him is the sound of hysterical cackling. They may have broken his body, but he has broken everything that they love. An immaculate victory.

I would kindly like to suggest a playlist for villains from other periods? Like I'd kill for something along the lines of a playlist to feel like a Renaissance villain who's about to take over an Italian city-state. Pretty please?
So something akin to Machiavelli? Or maybe the Medici's? I guess it depends on what view you take.
@@cultofthevoid5677 But Machiavelli didn't take the power on Florence, actually he quite appreciated the Medici's family and even expressed the desire for them to reunify and rule on all of Italy

PERFECT soundtrack for writing this essay I've been putting off. My professor is going to smell the blood, sweat and tears I poured into this. In my head I'm of course a troubled royal scribbling this to my secret lover to warn her of the coming dangers, frantically dragged my quill against the parchment while I look over my shoulder.
Yesssss
What a massive gathering of antagonists! I see we've all been practicing our mustache-twirling and train-track tying skills!
🏆🤣🤣🤣🤣👍🏽
I was literally twirling my mustache a minute ago.
Machiavelli rose from his grave and high-fived me for playing this playlist.
Machiavelli wasn't exactly evil, I think. From what I read from and about him, he was known for considering that being ruthless was the optimal way to rule, sometimes. Not that I agree, though
@@jmiquelmb I'd agree the mans just got a bad rep, he thought politics was always marred by treachery and crime. His philosophies emphasise on deceit and conspiracy, from what I read. He just rationally thought that to rule well you need to control well and anyway you do it, as long as you get your result, you shouldn't worry about the steps in between. Basically, "The end justifies the means" approach.
I'd also agree that I don't agree with some of his thoughts but he do be a legend/villain in his own right xD
OMG YESSSS
Machiavelli was and is right

But it's suppose to make you feel like a villian who's won, not a hero capable of great things

This is the music playing as you sit alone in the concert hall while the orchestra is playing and in the background you can barely hear the gunshots and screams of the hero fighting the way through your entire army of bodyguards that you hired off evil guy craiglist. Only one else with you is your bodyguard who is A) former partner of hero B) the cold blooded killer who blew up the hero's favorite taco stand.
