Jazz pianist, three-time Grammy winner, and NEA Jazz Master Ramsey Lewis, who successfully crossed over from the Jazz charts to the Pop charts, most notably with his smash hit “The In Crowd,” died peacefully at his home in Chicago on the morning of September 12, 2022. He was 87.

Wow! Thanks so much for posting this great pianist in concert. While I have a collection of Ramsey Lewis's music from his first trio in the late 50s to his last released cd from a couple of years with his re-formed electric band, I've never had the honor of seeing him in person. So its especially moving for me to view this performance. Ramsey Lewis has always surrounded himself with the best young musicians and also here we get to witness his long-time guitarist -"Master Henry Johnson"-as the late Joe Williams would call him after one of his jaw dropping solos during the years he split time on the road between Ramsey & Mr.Williams. I love the fact that Ramsey Lewis still challenges himself seeking fresh ways to express himself through his music & still searching for that elusive chord via the 88 keys.
