Great work Chris and Michael. This is great storytelling and narrative.
“That’s different, that’s very different” 😂😂😂😂😂
Lol 😂 I chuckled at that 😆
It’s very different.
Excellent interview, great questions capturing the process behind achieving the greatness
Every kid needs to watch this!!
i think he can still medal if he swam at olympics
People talk about the greatest athlete of all time and often leave this guy out. There’s very few things in life as universal as swimming and he is the best to have ever done it. The goat right here
If you are physically and mentally strong..You are Unstoppable!
Dayum......Michael Phelps is frickin huge. I guess all world-class swimmers are.
Edit: Chris Paul is actually pretty great at this interview stuff.
Who is Dayum? Do you mean Dayam Jimiyah pro archer from Azerbaijan?
Agree on Chris Paul being a good interviewer. He asks the questions succinctly, and gets out of the way. Doesn't try to make it about himself.
Actually some world class swimmers are pretty small. Daiya Seto is 5’9 and the 200m butterfly silver medalist Tomoru Honda is only 5’7. Crazy if you think about it.
Much love and respect to Michael. This interview was wonderful at making him less "celebrity" and much more down to earth. I know he always seems genuine but this conversation/interview was wonderful at shining a light on the real Michael Phelps ❣️🤗 thanks for this!
I think it helped that he’s being interviewed by someone he’s friends with and knows whose also famous and sees him as a normal guy who is the exceptionally gifted at his chosen field. There’s also mutual respect back at Chris because he’s also one of the best to do it but it’s because of hard work and god given talent. When you’re in awe of the person, you act sycophantic and laugh at everything, it’s comes across disingenuous and annoying. Like Jimmy Fallon
Sss
Yeah he’s generally much more condescending (thru the interviewer) to the listening audience.
Chris Paul's amazing interviewing ability keeps getting better and better. He should have his own show. Senegal, West Africa.
Indeed, lovely guy
It's good that Michael Phelps opened up about seeking treatment for his mental health issues, and not to take away anything from Michael, but the first athlete to publicly open up about his mental health treatment, was Ron Artest/Metta Sandiford-Artest when on the court after winning their championship, he acknowledged his Psychiatrist.
And these athletes opening up is great for all of us, athletes and non-athletes.
Tyson Fury??
Nice video and interview, but hate the sound effect of the "slide transition" so much. really disturbing
That's Bloomberg for yah
Just enjoy the video brah
Michael is one of the greatest athletes of our time. Thank you for this one
He’s the greatest Olympian of all time. Which is pretty badass
@@swimfan752 I'd agree with that
Good job QuickTake! Will show that to my kids swim team in Brazil. MP is the GOAT !!!
This is a great interview. It just feels like two pals chatting.
The closest thing to AquaMan in the human race.
Wonderful conversation and great interview. Deep respect to both of these men. I really want to watch every interview Chris does. I've always seen him as an intense competitor playing for an opposing team and frankly have not been a fan. Now I'm getting to know him as a man and I like him a great deal. Hope he gets his ring... though not at the expense of the Warriors... though this may be the year. Mmm...
Very gifted man both mentally and physically
Wow. YT on a roll with the recommends. Just finished this one and Mark Cuban’s.
I get triggered watching interviews where the interviewer is doing most of the talking. I’m working on that lol. CP’s interview style is simple, yet super refreshing. Allows me to just, enjoy the conversation.
Great work CP! Amazing series, looking fwd to more.
Oh man me too. Even wrote a letter once to a show saying about the too much talking by the interviewer - that’s all I remember, haha, just the interruptions
Seems like genuine vibes. Glad I came across this.
Remembering his B-More roots with Under Armour 🤘
He competed against Tim Duncan, I was waiting for that question.
phelps: "seeing the sunshine everyday is wondrous. You feel like a different person."
me: hey that actually sounds pretty nice.
*checks current weather in phoenix*
*high of 106-111F every day this week*
me: ah ok maybe not
This is wonderful interview 😊🙌🏾
Thanks Chris for doing this in the way u did . The greatest Olympian of all time saying ask for help is something. Love you Phelps.
Damn that last part that that Michael said felt like he was talking directly to me... almost made me cry... haha I'm good tho I just thought that was crazy
I remember people saying dont smoke weed it will ruin your life its a gateway drug then I find out Mike use to smoke weed that killed to anti weed talk as he has won 17 18 gold medals
Bloomberg should interview CP3 We're talking about one of the best nba point guard in history here🏀
This interview got me hooked ! Good Job CP3! Phelps is amazing human being
In the beginning I thought Michael didn’t have ANY pants on.
*Nike vs Under Armour* .......
Absolutely true Legend..very nice to see you Mr. Phelps.
Glad to hear from him post career alpha. You can tell training and competing took a lot out of him. Big fan of Phelps!
Great interview, thanks a lot!
This video editor doing too much.
Wise words about deppresion
who else thought he had no pant on 😂
Micheal Phelps is looking like a Quincy from Bleach TWBA
well looks like Paul is sponsored by Nike and Phelps is sponsored by Under Armour lol
One of the best interviews I've recently come across. All the best to all his efforts
@ 19:10; Lacrosse apparently has a bad reputation in the U.S.
This guy looks so old now, last I heard he was still in college smoking bongs... time flies.
He never even went to college lol
Wait so did he make the putt?
Either way love CP's interviewing style, relaxed and natural but genuinely curious and you can see he loves to learn things about people.
thank you so much and I really appreciate you this michael phelps. ♥️🍻
Michael Phelps' face popped up in my mind when the young black/African American male swam to fight in the 2023 Alabama Brawl. I plan to retake a swimming class just to pass it.
(PEOPLE)! THE! (MAGICAL)! MICHAEL! PHELPS! (MP)! THE! (G,O,A,T)! OLYMPIAN! (SWIMMER)! &! ATHLETE! HA! HA! HA!
WOW!
A swimmer is WAY TALLER than a basketball player 😅
Meanwhile Chris Paul:
"I'm 6 foot 1" 😉
A true Aquaman !!
Michael Phelps the goat won gold medals smoking loud
The lesson here is NOT the lousy-grammar superficial questioning. It is, in fact, Phelps' response to being told by an older, more experienced athlete-swimmer that he "couldn't do it" and using it as a psychological springboard to achieving greater, superior results. And that is one common denominator of highly successful individuals in all walks of life!
language is used to communicate ideas. life is too short to spend time quibbling about phrasing and vernacular.
character and integrity matters much more, and both of these men have shown - at least in the public eye - that they possess such traits.
People should look into Islam 👍
Good interview... 'what's next'... like that 'mental health' it's real and needs to be addressed.
chris paul is a great interviewer!
We're excited for you to watch our new conversation series: How I Got Here, hosted by NBA star Chris Paul. 🏀🎙🏊

Chris is a thoughtful and perceptive host here. His questions reflect genuine interest and ask for authentic responses. Not superficial. Thank you. This showed Michael as a real person. Not just a celebrity.
You guys really don't need to put that transition noise every 2 seconds.
He competed against Tim Duncan, I was waiting for that question.
To playing the gulfy u hv to swingy the stick at da ball!!!
I like him, great guy!
This was great and Phelps is an absolute beast
Btw I love Mike's golf shirt lol.. I gotta buy that.
I love watching Michael Phelps interviews. Always has wise things to say and very motivational and inspirational to me the past 2 years since I first got into him. Greatest Olympian ever.
Phelps is a king
I am a nobody, and ofcouse can only imagine to differ with the GOAT, but i do believe that you cannot just be sane and be that successful
It is good he is talking about mental health and compartmentalization but it is easier to say for him because he has achieved greatness and now that doesn't hold much value maybe.
Chris Paul looks wholesome
That's its crazy explain everything
The way his feet are flexible it crazy 🤯
MICHAEL PHELPS SO AWESOME ON BLOOMBERG !!!!
absolute legend
Great conversation
Didn't Phelps have Asthma throughout his career but somehow it cured itself after he retired? by claiming he has Asthma, he can dope legally.
I am an avid mental health awareness advocate and spoken word performer, and I love this so much. I travel the country trying to bring that awareness on stages, in classrooms, hospitals, and on my RUclips channel, so I get excited when I see other advocates. 💚
The greatest Olympian ever.
28 medal (23 gold) the only athlete taking home 8 gold medals in a single Olympic.
This man is 30 something but he looks 60😭, why???!
The beard
Phelps had to grow up quick. He’s been under immense pressure for more than half of his life
He literally mentioned how he put his body through torture and teared it apart by eating over 10,000 calories a day
@@brooks5895 wait what just for a 🏅 ??
@@brooks5895 him eating that many calories wasn’t tearing his body apart. Calories is fuel and he needed to eat given what he does for a living. If anything those calories helped his body repair itself.
Very refreshing!💪🏻⚡️🏊🏻♂️🏀!.
Who edited this video? Sound effects really sucks. Made a great interview unwatchable
this was fantastic
Chris is an amazing interviewer
No he's not; his native-language grammar is a rock-solid F.
@@Jeph629 he is simple and effective, doesn't talk much like other interviewers
Ah, lacrosse !!?
-Yes I ‘m from the east coast! 😂
Q: "Can you beat that person?"
A: "I don't think that person will get into the pool with me" 😀
Work hard.. a little huch?
Played this course back in February. The home they “start” will PUNISH you. Haha
5:05 Descipline Consistency Perseverance One If The Greatest Olympians
the transition sound effects are so annoying and constant
Yup I was going to mention it as well. So distracting and annoying. Felt like a 12 year old getting their hands on PowerPoint transitions for the first time. Couldn't even focus on the conversation because of the annoying sliding sound every 10 seconds
“I don’t like to lose”
CPE who has lost so many playoff games ):
definitely had to smoke to eat all that. also probably explains the naps.
2 legendary
I love Chris Paul but this boy is soo stubborn lol I know because I’m the same way Chris and I were both born on 4th lol
You gotta lose the transition sound effects how could you possibly think that’s a good idea
Am I the only one who watches an interview when I find out someone is from Baltimore to see if they have an accent??🤣🤣
Salute to you LEGEND from World
Chris and Michael first name at the start of the sentence. Just better advertising. Try that next time. Chris name is cut off title is so long.
Ian Thorpe: “Phelps can’t win 8 golds in one games”.
Phelps:” I took that personally”
He wouldn't have if Thorpe was still around.
@@SoLazy100 he broke thorpe's record by more than a second in a 200?
@@weinz71 and Paul Biedermann broke his, doesn't make him better. The times in swimming improve.
Didn't Thorpe win wearing body suits when no one else did?
This is great stuff! Thanks CP and MP
I just love his and Bowman’s relationship
It's the first time I saw a nba player look shorter next to a non nba player..😅
Love this interview
Thanks for this interview with the most amazing person. Goat
Boomer: Dad can you beat that person?
Nah he doesn't know! For sure.
If ur cricket fan, u have definitely in same confusion
No he is not starc
Oow, watched It like It was a 5min vídeo. 2 legends right there, thank u
13:05
Seeing a sunshine everyday is wonderful.. 👍
A champion, and some other guy.
Chris Paul needs Phelps to teach him that championship mentality
