Fun fact: Tom Hanks was a hotdog vendor at this stadium as a teenager. During the 2020 season there was a cardboard cutout of him in a vendor uniform behind home plate and occasionally on the fake crowd noise they pumped in you could hear his voice which he provided lines for.

Right!! Even 10 years ago it wasn't this bad.. Our tickets were $65 each to have my knees pressed up against a metal grate that was being held together by zip ties and duck tape, and the real kicker that made things awful was that Oakland doesn't accept Cash anymore so I have hundreds of bills ready to go , finally eat some food and relax just to basically be told to f*ck off because its card only... 2 hours almost pass as we're about to leave out of spite and out of hunger, I notice right before walking out the entrance theres a machine that gives out stupid temporary visa cards that you can load up with cash... how stupid can a stadium get... cash is legal tender, and a baseball staple the dudes on foot asking for popcorn here should always allow cash... $15 bucks for a beer... $30 for parking leaving the stadium and police being everywhere with their sirens on because you're in a heavily crime ridden area... its just really sad to see how a city like Oakland and Ownership of the As can step on the fans so much

Chanman… with all do respect! Do not feel bad for our billionaire owner, he has been doing this for years and its finally catching up to him. He sold all our players for peanuts, raised ticket prices which are now higher than the San Francisco Giants, removed all affordable and package deals for season ticket holders. The owner is a joke, and the fans have finally had enough. I have been to hundreds of games since i was a kids, from seeing Ricky Henderson, the Bash Brothers too Coco Crisp dancing in the outfield when we were winning AL west titles. This is all Ownerships fault, there is a strong A’s fan base and the ownership group does not care about us only his checkbook. Its also at fault of the MLB which should have a salary cap, MLB has done NOTHING for the A’s! They need to sell the team to someone who cares and wants to win!

Welcome to the Bay Area! I've been to a couple games at that stadium. It definitely has that nostalgic vibe to it. I grew up and still am a Giants fan. When the Giants left Candlestick Park and into the City it was bittersweet. Hopefully the city of Oakland sort things out to get that waterfront park. After the games in Oakland the bugs come out. It's sad, b/c there's so much OAKLAND A's history, I don't know where to begin. Grew up going to A’s games. Would go to several games a year, when games weren’t sold out. Yes. They sold the place out back in the late 80s into the early 90s. There was no Mount Davis (those outfield seats are for football, not baseball). The bleachers were real bleachers. You had a fantastic view of the Oakland Hills from your seats. It got loud. The wave was a frequent occurrence. The public address announcer was the best. Those plastic horns were everywhere too. Somewhere along the way, attendance started crashing and just hasn’t really recovered. This year it’s the worst, mainly due to the fire sale of fan favorite players and the fact that the team likely is gone. Even if they do stay in Oakland, most casual fans will not be able to afford the see a game on the new digs. It’s kind of sad. The drummers have always been awesome. I was at the streak record game. That was an amazing moment (and a massive crowd … even those outfield seats were packed). It’s just heartbreaking to see the stands so empty. Was just a great place (and you’d never be able to move around in those field level seats behind the dugouts). FYI, when I was a kid, I was in the area where your seats were. A Mariners fan cussed me out and my dad put her in her place (basically this was our house, your a guest, act like it … you root for your team, we will root for ours). Good memories there. Again, sad to see it that way. I’m all for them going to Vegas. With my Raiders already there, two of my teams will be there. Been tempted to go from being a Sharks fan to a Golden Knights fan. If the Sacramento Kings had relocated to Vegas, I’d probably make that hockey switch -- having all my teams in a city easily accessible from SoCal.

The "Queens" (Kings) have had their ups and downs in Sac town. They've nearly relocated a few times. Back in '09, once the Seattle Supersonics left for OKC, the Kings were interested in replacing them as the second incarnation of the "Sonics", but that fell flat when Seattle didn't commit to a new arena. Then they attempted to move to Anaheim in 2011, to play at the Honda Center; but due to opposition by the two teams already in SoCal, the Clippers and Lakers, the move was voted down by the league. Building the new Golden One Center fairly much ensures the Kings will remain in Sac town, but their NBA fortunes, well, we're still waiting...

Fan apathy is a powerful weapon. They know the team and ownership aren't negotiating in good faith with the city and they're inevitably leaving Oakland for Vegas, just like the Raiders did a couple of years ago. Only difference is the Raiders fanbase is far more national and passionate, and ownership actually spends money. Honestly, Oakland does have bigger fish to fry than this team. The A's not moving to San Jose in the mid-late 00s really killed this team's chances in the Bay. Fans are fed up, and I don't blame them one bit. The ownership is doing this by design to justify the move even more.

Would have been better to go with green. There has been talk of putting in a retractable roof or building a new stadium. But really a new roof on the current stadium would work wonders. They should add a water garden feature like what Angels stadium has also. Add some natural brick etc.

The Rooted signage is another one of the myriad of con games that the current A's ownership uses to get fans to come there. Raising the prices was just brilliant, especially after they literally gave away the quality players and put a less than mediocre product on the field. Its a crying shame for them to treat, what had been left of a loyal fan base that way.No one should be going there to support this sham,as tv video shows many people disguised as empty seats.

I'm from San Jose originally. Live in Vegas now. Life long Giants fan, but i would honestly love to see the A's here. We will support them just like we do the Knights and Raiders. The current situation in Oakland is a huge mess, and the team deserves a real stadium. I grew up in the 80s, went to a fair share of games and events at the Colosseum. Its always been a dump. Even Candlestick was WAYY better. Last time i went to an A's game was probably around 2011. I remember buying a hot dog that i couldn't even bite through. I was sitting right under the edge of the second deck, and water was dripping out of a sign right onto me the whole game. Dudes were in the parking lot selling their home made CDs, getting very aggressive. It was a crazy scene. Fans dont want to deal with all that crap to see a game. Even if they dont come to Vegas, I hope they get a new place to play that isnt so trashy.

I just received my return envelope back from Adam with the pins/stickers inside. Thank you Adam for doing that as I have been a big fan of yours since the beginning. You're the best.

Great history, exciting "red headed stepkids" of mlb at times. I went to my 1st game in 1973 there.
It is sad to see the slow demise of a once proud franchise. I blame the city leaders of Oakland for terrible mis-management of this resource. It feels no different today as everything is chaotic as ever with any kind of progress towards a new stadium. There is plenty of money all around, just look across the bay. Oakland leaders are impotent to move forward.
I drive through Oakland often, and see the homeless expansion spilling onto the streets and neighborhoods. Poor leadership, lack of vision and plain cowardice plauge this city to clean its act up. Dave Kavel, you have my vote to keep fighting, I hope you prevail. The city doesn''t deserve you, but the A's and the rest of us do.
