That’s a great idea April! Too simple! Your floating shelves look great and are practical. I especially like your hidden storage box. Thanks for sharing this great idea. Hope you’ve enjoyed a relaxing weekend!
Good afternoon, April! THIS is SO cool! I've done something similar, but like this MUCH better! Thanks so much for sharing. Hope you're having a great weekend! God bless.
When you're cutting the drywall, it helps to tape something under it, across the area you'll be cutting. Like a piece of paper folded upward to catch the dust. Then just toss the paper that caught all the mess instead of breaking out the vac.
Long time viewer, first time commenter. Nah, I've commented a few times. Suggestion: put the WD-40 Precision Pen on your list. They look way cool, like a paint pen I've used before, and I need to order them. I know you will have a use for them also. FedEx just delivered my Specialist Dry Lube I ordered the other day. Happy to help. Love your videos. Looking to hide a few things around the house. Thanks.
Nice work April. But that crosscut on your table saw right after you sprayed the wd40 is really dangerous. You can attach a block to the fence and adjust it accordingly and push the work piece through with the miter slider
April, your imagination seems to never end. you are easy to learn from. you do quick scenes but they are easy to follow and understand. This is a great series. Hope you do lots more videos.
@@AprilWilkerson thank you for responding. I saw that the two boxes were attached together… are they secured to the wall aside from being slid through the hole? And how? Sometimes weight can make things slide out or tilt….
Mine aren't but I won't have anything heavy inside. If you're concerned you could caulk around the back if you have access, as I do. Thanks for watching.
You could easily cut a piece of drywall to fit and use that, but getting it nice and flush and not damaging the edges could be a problem. Perhaps covering the wood with joint compound and rolling on multiple layers of paint would do the trick.
All of the other shelves have wall colored painted back panels as well. None of them have drywall showing through. The French cleat is behind the painted back panel on all of the shelves as she showed in a previous video. So this is consistent with every other shelf she has there.
@@onlyychevys um, I've watched the whole series. All of the shelves are the same. Same painted back panel, just this one is removable and has more behind it.
Maybe this is a dumb question, but why wouldn't you just build the hidden box completely first and then attach it to the inside of the other one? It seems like it would be easier, but is there a benefit to not doing that?
I make the following suggestion: We have a contest. The contest is entered by suggested something April make the 'trinket' into. Winner get nothing but the glory of having April make the trinket into their 'thing'. Yes - there can be multiple winners. April is final word on all rules of the contest including whether or not this contest exists. I'll go first. Chess rook. Post your suggestion in a reply below my comment so we can keep all suggestions together and make it easier for the media team to manage.
@@AprilWilkerson I think u misinterpreted lucky. Yes ur a very hard worker and know how to build so many cool things with an amazing shop full of cool tools that u worked very hard for. I was thinking lucky in regards that u you found a great property and have met what looks like a great group of helpful friends that help u when needed. Not specifically this video but others.
Hey April, I'm not sure that works what you said you know about having a million and a half followers. Here's why I'm saying that, support a quarter of a million or even fifty million of you subscribers passed away during covid . Then that would only mean that if they weren't able to cancel their subscriptions before they passed away that they weren't really following your content anymore. So in closing, shouldn't you actually exclaim, " Maybe you have a million and a half people still following your content after covid?"
Oh I LOVE that. Sufficiently subtle, and a bit obscure to get to. A nice combination.
Thanks! Glad you like it. Thanks for watching.

Very awesome

Heck yeah a secret hidden spot its coming together also must ready so ya can relax and read a book have a great week ahead and be safe
Thanks! You too. Thanks for watching.
@AprilWilkerson I don't see the links for your hidden projects...pun not intended...lol.
Where is the playlist of hidden compartments mentioned?
I love working with magnets. I hope you tested magnet polarity before you glued up the magnets- otherwise it would push the door closed. 😂
Did you insulate the box? or will it be a "hot spot"
Yep, but since I have access to the backside (from the attic) I insulated everything after the entire project was done.
Isn't that going to create a coldspot, as you removed isolation there?
As I have access to the backside, I insulated everything after the project was completely finished. Thanks for watching.
Question….how do you attach it? I understand it slides into a hole in the wall, but how is it secured so it doesn’t slide or tilt out?
It's attached to the box in front. So it's an extended box with a false back, in between. Thanks for watching.

An elevated loft with no security railing? Is that allowed per Texas building code?
She probably has not got that far.
Glass Railing being customed built and will be installed in a later video. Stay tuned! Thanks for watching.

Cool idea but no texture on the hidden wall panel. OCD I guess, again cool idea and I love this series of video's!

: ) haha yes! I also didn't show y'all my final trinket that unlocks it. So unless you bring a magnet when you rob my house, it won't open for you.

It would help if you gave them the same wall texture treatment to the panel as you can do on your back wall.
True! But I don't care that much. : ) Once they are full of books, there is very little space shown
