The Truth about the Oneida Low-Pro Lid Separator!
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 5 окт 2024
- I immediately purchased the new low profile Dust Deputy from Oneida as soon as I knew one was available. I took the opportunity to do a comparison of this new product with another product. I was surprised at the performance of the new Dust Deputy as it didn't measure up to Oneida's past products. I have lots of their products and have always been willing to pay the premium price for the Oneida products.
They sent me a replacement, and now I get to see if the original comparison was fair or not.

I have the same separator but haven't set it up yet. Mine also didn't come with the plastic center plug after looking at it.
I emailed Oneida with my original order #, referenced your RUclips video at 8:30 and indicated my separator also didn't come with the referenced plug. They emailed me back and are sending me a plug as a warranty claim.
This is how the part # is indicated on the invoice for future people who reach out:
PLUG CAP ROUND 1.125 X 0.52
CCF-1 1/8-14-20
Thanks
for posting Jake!
Thank you so much for your comment.. I missed it for a while.. RUclips had it under Held for Review. Thank you for taking the time to show us this.
A person's honesty and integrity are paramount. You have always demonstrated them in the past and continue to demonstrate them now. I respect you and your personal character. Keep being an excellent example of how people should conduct themselves in life. 👍👍👍💪💪💪
Thank you Brad .. that means a lot to me.. 🦾🦾🦾
Totally agree with this, I'm looking at buying one and it's good to know where it has failed before, thanks for making this informative video
That's some good customer service that they jumped onboard and owned that problem. Great to see a company interested in its legacy rather than just quick bucks. Sorry about the video loss but I'm sure the scales will be back in balance and karma restored once more.😁👍💪
Yes sir Huey.. they took care of it, for sure.
7:46 you wouldn't see
Yan mi chin CE do it.

I'm glad they got the issue fixed. Thank you for the information
Thanks Martin 🦾🦾
Well done, Jake. After your last video we had a good conversation about the results and I was hesitant on updating my Oneida. After watching this follow up video I can move forward with that decision. The follow up from the company says a great deal on their Customer Service to current and future customers. Jake, for all you do for our community "Thank you!" Honesty and Integrity speaks loudly.
💪💪💪💪
Thank you Mr. Jim.. I’m so happy this got fixed and also that I could update you all.. 🦾🦾
Excellent, glad it all got resolved. It’s crazy how a little piece of plastic can cause so much chaos. Great video bud!!!!
Thank you Mr. Joey 🦾🦾🦾
You're doing the right thing for the right reasons - big respect, sir!!! And Oneida, great job making it right for the customer.
Win-win all the way around!
Thank you Jody. 👍👍👍
Great update by both you and Oneida for a win, I was on the fence about which collector to buy until this update>
Thank you Roger.. Glad I could help 👍👍
Thanks for this video. Mine was also missing this little piece. I emailed Oneida about mine and linked to this, and they quickly replied with a shipping notice for the part. Thanks again.
Awesome… I’m glad I could help you get taken care of. 👍👍
wow!!! such a small part can cause so many issue, great video Jake.... props to you for doing the right thing
Thank you JPEee 🦾🦾
Good on you Jake and good on Oneida. Glad you were able to work together and sort out the problem. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you Michael.. I’m glad to get this one cleared up.
😳💁 I like that Oneida cares enough about their customers and products to promptly improve their service to a single person and too pay attention to "RUclipsr's" ... I'm very impressed! 👍
Thank you for posting this, it helped me decide which kit to get for my Dremel table. 👍
I'm glad they saw my original video and immediately investigated the problem. I ordered the Low Pro as soon as it came out. I'm sure by making the video as fast as I did helped minimize the problem that they might have had if I hadn't made the video.. Win Win for everyone. I'm glad you enjoyed the video.
Glad it got fixed! Glad they wanted to help you fix it.🎉
They got to the bottom of it. For sure. 🦾🦾
Thanks for the follow-up and information. Glad to see that you are a man of Integrity.
Thank you Richard.. I appreciate it.
Good video. Gotta appreciate the integrity of someone who puts truth over profit. I know there are still a lot of us out there, though unfortunately the culture has degraded. Also, good to see a company that has delivered a good product, and wants to continue doing so. Bottom line, is that I believe just like air and water, life and everything in it, always finds a balance.
Thank you.. absolutely have to do the right thing.. it will always be returned 10 fold.. I’m glad you enjoyed 🦾
Big fan, I own an original because of the first video you did, and now I need another one and it WILL be another Oneida…… rock on brother !!!!!!!
Thank you Al.. you ain’t so bad yourself buddy. 🦾🦾
Nice first impression. This is the first video of yours that I have watched. Keep up the great work. 👽
Thank you Alien.. glad you enjoyed 🦾🦾
I have watched two of your vids today. This one and the one on the Home Depot dust stopper improved version. Both good vids. This comment is only to let you know I’m going to “borrow “ your Karma Checkbook phase. If more people truly cared about that this world would be a much better place. Ultimately right is right as you stated. God bless. I hope your channel continues to flourish.
Thank you Sir.. I’m glad you enjoyed the video and I would be honored to know you use the Karma checkbook saying.. 🦾🦾
Thanks for doing this, I want this unit and the fix and the understanding reinforced that it will work for me.
Very welcome.. glad I could help 👍
Appreciate the update and original video as well.
I have the original dust deputy and the new 2.5 and they're amazing. I'll be adding a low pro to my miter saw setup very soon.
Absolutely.. appreciate it 👍👍
#karmarules Sorry your video had to go unlisted, but glad it all got figured out. 💙
🦾💙🦾💙🦾
Good Stuff Jake! Integrity, that's what you have my friend. Keep up the excellent videos.
Thank you Rick.. I appreciate it 👍👍
Great to see this - I recently got one of that same batch, and they proactively sent me the plug.
I’m glad they took care of ya 👍👍
I bought the same separator about a year ago. and I would say about a month after my purchase, out of the blue, I received a package from Oneida with the rubber plug and instructions for install.
I have purchased 2 different models of dust collectors from Oneida. Both failed miserably. I put them on the shelf and and began looking for unit that works.
That’s unfortunate. I hope you find one you like.
I have 2 and they are the best tool in the shop. They keep my shop and dustcollector filters clean. I like Jake have no dust in my shop vac or filters after years of use. You most likely have leak in your storage container seal and they tell you that in the manual.
Way to do the right thing Jake. Thanks for the update. So what would be your recommendation on dust collection now?
Thank you Anita.. now that this collects dust like I am accustomed to Dust Deputies collecting dust.. I definitely recommend getting this one… I still don’t suggest getting the kit with the expensive hose and bucket.. but I would buy the top and get a 5 gallon bucket from one of the big box stores.
@@JakeThompson thanks. Because Anita get one 😀
I just bought one of these based on a positive YT review I saw on another channel. I haven't used it yet, but included in the paperwork was a sheet that specifically called out this plug. The sheet says that if your low pro doesn't have the plug then email Oneida and they'll send you one.
Awesome... I'm glad they took care of it.
Jake it would be great to see how the dust deputy would do against sanding dust from a sander. What are your thoughts? Thanks
I’m going to have one hooked up to my lathe.. we should get a good look at that after I turn a bit.. although the dust caught from the bandsaw is finer than one would expect.
Thank you bud about the funds lost for the views, but you are correct when you do the right thing and tell the truth you get more positive satisfaction.
Yes Sir.. Thank you .. glad you enjoyed
Thanks for making this video, it's very helpful.
@@nikond90 Very welcome 🙏
Jake, thanks for this video. I am in the same boat as you were. No black plug in mine. Gonna call them now.
Awesome... Glad I could Help..
Thanks for doing the right thing, all we're looking for is the truth.
Thank you Paul 👍👍
I just found out about you because RUclips recommended the other video to me even though you have it unlisted. I guess it did that since I have been searching for DIY dust collection systems. Great video. I would like to see what the new CFM is compared to the other video with the bad collector.
Thank you.. I did a video on this Oneida and the old Dustopper.. maybe that’s the one it suggested.. either way.. I’m glad you enjoyed.. I can tell you the cfm is the same after putting the plug in.. I rechecked it the other day it was 133 cfm.. 👍👍
@@JakeThompson cool, thanks
looks like a goody item to have
🦾🦾🦾❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Bravo for being ethical!!!! Great info!!
Thank you Bonnie 💜💜
I am in the process of buying one of these "type" dust seperators. I like Oneida's design. Got to check into this for cost vs the orange one.
They cost the same 👍👍 Oneida is at Lowe’s The Orange one is at Home Depot
@@JakeThompson Just checking both at amazon but havent looked at lowes, we have HD and Lowes 6 miles from me.
Lowes has to order but is $5 less than Amazon. Will be here by Sunday
Better yet, free shipping here by Saturday, ORDERED based on your video, Brand name, and just what Im looking for. Thanks
@@richarddpetersen169 Awesome.. You will be happy with it 👍👍
Husky should make a low profile shop vac with a built on cyclone dust collector. Something that can fit under a work bench. It can be like an oval shape, If the shop vac bucket does not collect dust they can put a powerful motor but a smaller bucket. That way it would save space and have no hoses between them.
So, I’m still wondering what the differences are between the HD Dustopper Pro and the Lowe’s LowPro? Was I supposed to learn that from this video and I just missed it? 😊 That’s the real question people have - which should I buy if I wanna upgrade or don’t even have one to begin with. Thanks for the video and all the work that goes into it!
This video is for the people that received low pro’s that didn’t perform well and let them know that there is a problem that Oneida will fix.. and since this video they have sent everyone the part to fix it.. The difference between the HD Dustopper and the low pro is the low pro has more airflow. I appreciate you recognizing the effort that goes in.

How about a new comparison video since the Oneida is fixed now. 🤷🏻♂️
We will see. 👍👍
Thanks Jake. This is great.
Thank you Steve 👍
@@JakeThompson In a world where creators often do the wrong thing, you have done the right thing. Great video. I just bought through your affiliate link.
Question - Why is the button even there? Obviously there should not be a Hole, but they put a hole & then plugged it up with the button, why?
That’s a question for Oneida.. all I know is that they fixed it.
You didn’t address the fact that it wasn’t 50% better CFM that you mentioned in the previous video. What were the measurements 80 vs 100?
Good morning . You are correct … it wasn’t 50% better.. it is a lot better.. which is still better…
Hopefully this video will help out someone with the bad version. So they can fix it. 👊
I hope so too Carl.. 🦾🦾
So if they knew they had a bad batch, why didn’t they start there? Or did you find their issue for them?
I think I found it for them and it turns out, I am smart enough to run a shop vac.. 😂😂
@@JakeThompson I might be a skeptic, but I’m not seeing a recall on their website.
@@55chevy327 I think they are just going through the sales and going through emails ..
Ill subscribe even though your a 49ers fan. ,
Enjoy the game sunday!
Haha.. I’m a packers fan.. I was sent all the other flags. 😀😀
I just took a look at mine and it is a different style center section. It has like a cone in the center. However, the cyclone is not working. My shop vac filter is clogging up with a lot of dust in the shop vac and little in the bucket. I have the shop vac attached to the top with the tool going out the other end. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong but this thing does not work
Have you contacted Oneida?
Get your chief's gear now, after the superbowl it will be hard to come by! Isn't Purdy a paint brush manufacturer?
Hey all the trash talking the 49ers are doing its only fair we return the favor.
As far as the unit goes,
Whats your comments on that versus the dust deputy the small unit. I see you use 4" pvc pipe
What super dust deputy do you have?
I bought a Grizzly 2hp 240volt unit 4 years ago with the big hepa filter
I have not set it up yet it has the hepa filter and a collection plastic bag I'd like to turn it into a 2 stage unit but i have not decided to go with 6" spiral pipe or just 4" waste drain pipe i think a schedule 40 pipe is overkill.
So how well does your system work? My shop will be in my basement, my home furnace uses a 5" thick hepa filter that cost 40 bucks each so i really need to remove as much dust as i can or the hvac system will put the dust all over the house, and its hard on your hvac system
Nice grizzly band saws I'm in kc about 150 miles from the Springfield showroom.
Band saws are kinda hard to pull out all the dust back when i worked in a machine shop we had a do all saw it was a 20" band saw most the metal chips fell out the side but they still piled up on the wheels and wheel housing.
I looked at the bandsaw you have back in 2002 that size they were 800 bucks back then now they cost close to 2k but so does my 850 dollar table saw the 1023z
I wanted a large unit like we had in high-school that was a green powermatic my school district always bought the best tools.
Anyway they cut the shop classes
My kids barely had shop class in school and they are in there 40s now they don't teach shop at all.
Now we have an entire generation
That has no clue how to run machines. So much for the information age, you can learn online but its a hands on exp to build skill.
i,m getting one of those !
👍👍👍

Good JOB, JAKE. Place a tick mark in the positive column of the karma book.
Thank you very much. I’m glad you enjoyed 👍
Did you redo the cfm measurements now that the new piece will change the air flow?
I did right after this and it remained the same. I did it again just now just to make sure .. it read 133cfm with no 90.. just a hose going from the vac to the separator.
I can't find this answer anywhere so I'll try here. Does the Dust Deputy 2.5 or the Low-Pro have a better air flow through them? I'm needing to update my 10 year old Dust Deputy with the most CFM I can squeeze out of it.
I just tested the 2.5 and it had about 170cfm .. the low pro is about 130cfm
Thank you! I'm ordering the 2.5 right now. @@JakeThompson
I have the Oneida Paul Revere collection. It's flatware.
😀👍👍👍
What is the height with hose attached on top?
From the bottom to f the bucket to the hose attachment is 19 inches
It looks to me 1- The other product still better because you have tested them under same conditions. 2- they had no clue about the cause of poor performance, or they know and deny, but all what they want to put doubt and inconfidence in your finds. 3- it is obvious in your final test you are using fine and limited amount of dust which explained the problem: it works but it has limited capacity with large amount of dust
👍👍👍
So now that you've tried a few of these types of devices, which one do you like best. I'm debating on buying one or building one.
I like the Oneida now that I can just get it from Lowe’s.. Oneida dust cyclones have always done a good job for me .. and this one had a problem and they fixed it.
@@JakeThompson thanks for the information.
I watched the comparison video and unless my math was wrong, Oneida was 18% better than the competition at that time using your testing method. Had I not already just bought the competitor model, I would have opted for the Oneida after watching that vid. Next time. 🙂
👍👍👍👍

Why didn’t you show the difference between the setup or the Oneida at the beginning? A little too much talk at the front of your video…
Because there was a story to tell..
I think you are wrong. You should leave the first video up and add an end to it saying look for the hole and if you have one email the company for a fix.
People might watch that video and then discover the fix.
They need better quality control so this doesn't happen again.
I took that video down because it’s not a fair comparison.. if someone sees that video 2 years from now, it will seem like there is still a problem.. .. I’m pretty sure they sent everyone who bought one of these a plastic plug in the mail.. I got another one this week in the mail. Believe me, I would have loved to leave that video up because it was doing very well. I’m sure this was a lesson they needed to learn as far as quality control .. Thanks for the comment 👍
@@JakeThompson if you feel like they took care of all the previous owners than I would agree with you. After all you need my approval for everything right 😉.
I'm definitely happy I found your channel. There are so many out there to choose from.
Take care.
Terrible. And, you still have a right angle.
You have left me 2 comments and they are both Terrible.
The QC person must've been out sick that day...
That's what i'm thinking.
@@JakeThompson I only noticed this product after buying something else, and I like Oneida products based on what I've seen.
I see you like losing products like the niners
I’m just lost on your jokes
9:47 my bet, packing and shipping error. No one is perfect 100% of the time, its how you handel it when there is an issue.
Yes sir.. I’ve messed up pretty bad a few times on the orders I’ve sent out.. it’s not a big deal. I just fix it. Everyone is happy.
