I'm not familiar with ping pong paddles, but if the handles have any variation at all, it might be hard to design a stand that works for all paddles. Companies could make the stands for their own paddles though.
This! The entire time he was designing it I'm thinking "you've got to add a groove to that where a finger can find extra purchase for pulling the ball out of the tray. 🤔 ..Alternatively, add a widget at the bottom that will raise the ball out.
I don't agree in most aspects. A bucket or small basket works just fine, my grandparents have their ping pong paddles and balls in a basket my entire life and it worked just fine. However, it does take up a significant amount of space.
He should have done a holder that loosely holds the tops of the paddles with higher walls. That way it doesn't need to hold it down every time he takes off a paddle, plus putting it away is easy
That’s actually a problem, you’re looking at suction that’s gonna make it a BITCH to get the ball out, he needed to design finger notches for the holes to make it easier to get the balls out
The base of the paddle when inserted into the base is fairly close to the base of the holder so it's center of gravity shouldn't tilt the holder since it has other forces holding it down (gravity)
That base weighs more than the paddles and won't be going anywhere, they also looked to fit tightly which besides a bump or something that ain't falling. It was a 9.hour print which leads me to believe there's a lot of infill aka weight
I feel like he should make a video of all of his fails, like, maybe he didn’t get his measurements, right or there’s already a different invention for it, something like that
Ooooh try building a holder to clip onto the side in the middle of the table. I'll try to explain it, you have a half crescent on both sides of the ball holder, with the bottom of it cut out for the handles, each one holds two. And the ball holder works as a dispenser, kinda like a gravity fed feeder, where there's a small lip to keep the balls from falling out. It sounds like a lot, but it would now be an unnecessary invention! Since you already have a holder. I would love to attach a sketch, but sadly RUclips hates us and doesn't allow pics/gifs.
It still gets the Unnecessary Seal of Approval! You could’ve just used a bag on the side of a table, or a box big enough to store everything - doesn’t even need to have a lid, or an empty drawer even.
No bags pleease, my thoughts are there's something about having something so your things have a place to live, that applies to all products. We need this invention! 🎉🏓🏓🏓
I think it's the aesthetic of the holder too though. This looks WAY more clean than a bag just laying there on the shelf or on the table. Some ppl like the organized look.
ISSUES: Picking up the paddle will lift the whole thing, there's a chance the ball will just rotate when you try to pick them up. Solution: don't make it perfectly fit And add some groove on the ball part or print it with shallower.
@@aaronsmith5947you can see he dropped it. Maybe it was all scripted and intentional. Maybe he dropped it on accident and he just took advantage of the footage to make some good rage bait. Either way what does it matter? I literally just wasted your time and my time writing this comment.
Have you designed things to fit with the gridfinity base system? This pieces dimensions look perfect for that. People could make a whole gaming holder setup.
There are table tennis tables that come with a bat and ball holder attached to it, and I’m sure you can buy one separately. This gets the Unnecessary Seal of Approval
I just got the Bambi lab too, its awesome and the camera feature is worth it, i can start a print heading to the office and have it done when i get there.😂
Here's a thought: three balls on each end and paddles right in the middle. It's like the ultimate balancing act, no awkward wobbles or side-eye glances. We'd be the envy of all the table tennis gods, with a setup so slick, even gravity would give us a high-five!
I'd put the slots for paddles in the middle row, better for weight distribution, looks more symmetrical and the paddles take less lateral space outside the holder
Making the holder for the paddles slightly bigger would make sure that you can store and remove the paddle without having to hold the holder. Fit seems slightly too tight for the material. Ball holes might be a bit too deep, not sure about that one. Man, I love prototyping. You can always learn something

it'll be great if the ball say, clicks when you put them.theres a hole underneath or other mechanism since i feel like picking one is like trying to pick a coin without your nail
Personally I would have made the holder fit the paddle part of the paddle, so the handle sticks up. It just feels better to pull something out by the handle like drawing a sword.
For an unnecessary flare to it, you could make one of the ball holders on a loose lever, so you can smack the lever and launch the ball into the air. Pop it up and then bounce it with the paddle a couple times for fun. Heck, if you wanna make it bigger, you could probably use the same principles as a bike's brakes to create six buttons you can slam to launch a ball from each slot. Would make this necessary invention just a touch more unnecessary and fun
