  • The Model Y has 3x more cargo capacity than the Model 3. I couldn't help myself and squeezed out every inch for the ultimate Tesla Camper. (because Cybertruck can't come soon enough!)

      I hope this comes off right. As someone who has done many woodworking projects with marginally better tools, I would say he does not have a lot of skills. There were tons of things I would have done differently and I think it would have been better and still... He got the project done and it works great! I say all this to say that you shouldn't sell yourself short. The hardest part is starting, and then not giving up as you work through your issues bit by bit. Look around at what others do to get ideas from them. Some of the simple things he did to measure and cut wood is super helpful to learn from.
      I guess it's all relative, and he definitely has a lot of skills compared to none at all. I do think most people can do projects like this, just know it's a lot of work, but it's all worth it!

      @@LivinginTesla I really like the setup, The only question for me is the fit. I have a 6inch thick memory foam mattress though so not sure how the fit would be. My wife and I did a 7000 mile one month road trip where we car camped half the time back in December. We are looking for ways to further enhance our car camping build for future road trips.

    • @jimmycheung3298
      @jimmycheung3298 2 года назад +1

      @@tonydeveyra4611 I think the 6" mattress will be too thick if you're planning to build something similar. For my current setup (without the mattress), it's already about 9" lift from the trunk floor and it's not possible to sit up straight from the bed. I'm okay about the little headroom because I do most of my activities outside of the car. You may want to look into thinner mattresses for a such build. The Dreamcase is really great and comfortable but might be more on the expensive side. I haven't tired the Tesmat, but it seems to be good too.

      You're right, you should have used half inch wood. Would have given you a little more room. Your design is really good. Instead of using the plastic protectors you could have rounded all the corners of the wood with your router. I imagine that was probably an oops afterthought. Live and learn right? Very good job and video. Thank you

    • @LivinginTesla
      @LivinginTesla  2 года назад +1

      @@peshtigomark Yep, the half inch will also save weight. Haha yes, I learned from a viewer that I could've rounded the edges with the router.

  • @jeffbransky7966
    @jeffbransky7966 2 года назад +3

    Very cool. A lot of though went into that setup. However, here’s another thought. Propane gas is a liquid under pressure. If you invert the can as shown in the video, liquid propane will be expelled from the tank. You can’t run your stove, or any appliance with liquid propane. Tilt the can up to use the propane in gaseous form as it was designed to be used.

    • @LivinginTesla

    How tall are you? What would you recommend for folks who are 6'4" and above? Model X? Wait for the truck?

      I'm close to 6'2" and the bed length is just enough for me. Sometimes, I do sleep diagonally.

    A camper that will die after driving 150 miles in blizzard / snow conditions to no where. No thanks. ICE will continue to be the only form of camping vehciles that make sense until these batteries start storing 200kwh plus on a car that size.

    Impressive! You did a really good job. Handyman! Just one question, why not remove the back seats? for noice concerns maybe? Cause the seats do absorbe a lot of noice

      Thank you! I don't have a place to store the seats if I were to remove them.

    Most of what you used a router for you should have been using a jigsaw. Sooooo much easier and faster. --- Fun build, I hope you are enjoying it.

      I couldn't agree more! I had minimal tools and didn't want to buy too many of them.

    Do you sell this as a kit? I would buy that!

    I'm surprised you kept the rear seats. That could have been removed to create additional storage space.
