    If you go that way, near Sacramento, and need special cat food, go a bit south to Davis, they have more specialty pet shops, etc. I used to live in both places.

      That's a great tip, thank you! I'm a bit worried that the person who commented a few minutes after you (please see a couple of comments above) will see our exchange and think we're both nuts. Thanks for caring, and for your help. Cheers!

      @@ThisOldRV2023 Ah, I'm not worried about what others think, my dogs are all on a special diet, taking care of ourselves and our fur babies is just as important as human ones.

      Oh good, I'm glad you picked it up this morning. Thanks for being such a great supporter, Micheila and I both appreciate you watching and commenting. You make it all worthwhile. We're back home in Sidney now, just a few hours south of you. We arrived home a month ago. Hope your weekend weather is better in Nanaimo! Cheers!

      @@ThisOldRV2023 It's gray and chilly today, but we will have a trip in the afternoon, around 11 pm we have to pick up the kids from the airport in beautiful Victoria. I hope you will have 1000 subscribers by Monday morning. See you next Saturday.

      Safe trip, we'll probably hear your flight come in, we live about 1 km from the airport. When you mentioned the 1000 subscribers earlier, it lifted us and by God, we're almost there. Thanks for sending such positive thoughts our way!

    Monty may not be in the same league as those big monsters, but he is definitely more my style.
    Do you ever dry camp dry camp on BLM lands or equivalent. One of the reasons I’m looking at a coach Monty’s size is the ability to fit into smaller places, like our B.C. Parks campsites and to possibly head south for the winter. We can’t afford to stay in expensive RV parks and boon docking is more our style.

      Hi again neighbour, hope all is well in Campbell River. Glad you like Monty and aren't swayed by those monster Marathon coaches. Yes, we dry camp a lot, it's our preferred way of travelling. Micheila completely agrees with your reason for looking at a smaller coach, because she insisted on nothing more than 30 feet. I'm glad I listened to her. We have yet to be stumped getting into a B.C. Provincial Park or any State Park in the USA. Monty is incredibly nimble, people find it hard to believe it's only 30 feet. It appears much bigger. We have a small Federal Park near our home in Sidney, near Swartz Bay Ferry Terminal. It's really for small campers and tents, but Monty fits in there too. Quite a spectacle!
      Our favourite BLM land in the USA is around Quartzsite, Arizona. Wide open skies, level ground and great weather. We can comfortably dry camp for 4 - 5 days before needing to dump our tanks.
      We too can't afford expensive RV Parks as a regular thing and even if we could, we'd prefer to dry camp or stay in less expensive Provincial and State Parks. 30' seems like an ideal size, I think you'll be very happy with this length. And, a bit cheaper on the ferries. 35' or 40' and you're in another whole category. And, the short turning radius of our coach is surprising.
      We lead a RV life that seems to match what you're thinking about - enjoying B.C. Parks and Island life during the summer, and heading south in the winter. It keeps us happy and something to always look forward to. A couple of videos that might be of interest to highlight this - a recent one we did titled "Just a Matter of Time Before This Happens to You" that will show you scenes of us dry camping on BLM land near Quartzsite AZ just over a month ago, and in several other free locations, and an older video titled "Our Cat Was Lost For 6 Months" that will, if I recall correctly, show you some scenes of Monty in small locations on Vancouver Island.
      Hope this helps. Please email me too if you'd like more detailed information about our travels - happy to chat anytime and send pictures or information. Email: cryslerpacific@outlook.com

    • @ThisOldRV2023
      @ThisOldRV2023  6 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks for the suggestion, something we've considered in the past and will do perhaps in a pinch, but we tend to seek out quieter, less hectic places. Truck stops are a bit too much for us. As for our cats, they were diagnosed a few days before we left Mexico and we did take enough from the Mexico vet to get us well on our way, with plans to restock the prescribed food about half way home to Canada. We made out just fine, what you saw wasn't urgent. Thanks for watching.
