That green board with plastic pieces is honestly the best. Most of the time, when one of your pieces is missing and you want to buy a replacement, you'll find out that they never sell it independently. But you can always buy a replacement piece with that specific set.
There is a reason that many tourneys use boards with notation on the edges.. They do not want mistakes in notation. You can make fun of someone for having "training wheels" on their board but isn't that is a little immature? I just use an old naga-hide "board" with notation on the edges anytime I'm out of my home... it's cheap and durable.
Another beginner mistake is to choose pieces and board that are too high in contrast and too glossy. E.g. black squares too black and white squares too white. This tires the eyes quickly.
you forgot the anti scratch velvet pad on the bottom of chess pieces it creates less scratches on the board especially magnetic boards and cheap wooden board because of what weak wood it was made of and we also need extra queen
hi i know this video was in 2020 and was posted quite some time ago but im looking for a triple weighted set with mousepad board in asia where the shipping fees cost an arm and a leg and ive spent the last month looking and im getting desperate, does anyone have any advice in buying tournament chess sets?
I disagree with what you stated about preferring a chessboard without notations! A chessboard _with_ notations makes it easier to take note of your moves and eliminates mistakes. The rest of your advice was generally okay.
Mine was £135-£140 can be cheaper but are less durable and unweighted also comes without out Wood box and are of poor finish. Also cheaper ones come without extra Queen on both sides
The wueen could be assumed to have female genitalia, but I can't imagine It would be proper to check this, perhaps have another lady friend excuse themselves to confirm lol.
This advice is actually very solid and useful.
Thanks 👍😊🙏👍

Yes indeed! A chess set with an extra queen is far superior to one without, I also always ensure the pieces have a felt bottom.
@@TheGeezzer Unfortunately, foreign companies that makes cheap plastic chess sets doesn't know anything. Maybe to save up their money
Any online links for the 3rd board shown?

But if you're a pro you don't need the notation
