A normal bear trap to my knowledge works by releasing tension on a set of springs to rapidly close the jaws with great force. I can see how the same principle could be applied though it is certainly complex
@@hammer1349 you actually need some kinda mechanism that has enough force to rip your face compeletely open. The real prop used in movie had a little air cylinder that pushed the two jaws open.

I don't know if you saw all the movies but in the seventh one someone is killed with the reverse bear trap. The head it's not distroyed and it looks almost like in this video. In the video Jigsaw shows to Amanda it looked like the reverse bear trap destroyed the head because it was put on a manequin. It would have been impossible for it to open without turning the head into pieces.

I thought the front head just explodes, I didn’t notice in Saw 7 that it actually completely hinges the upper jaw to a 90 degree angle. Yikesarooni. Unlike in the saw series, you probably wouldn’t die immediately either.
Interesting and well made. I'd love to see your take on other traps in the SAW franchise. Particularly the first film as most of them were left up to the viewer's imagination. Unlike the later films that went full in on the gore and didn't leave much room for interpretation.
This is conceptual, in reality it would definitely similar but more messy with ripped tendons bleeding. If you didn’t instantly die from brain damage you would bleed out profusely in minutes or choke on your own blood
I definitely think the lower jaw would be much more deformed as it’s easy to dislocate the mandible which would make the wounds appear bigger and the area more of a gaping bloody mess
The sad part about the iconic reverse bear trap is that we only got one kill with it 😞 and the fact that it was wife, Hoffman honestly deserved his game over.

fun fact! in the 2003 SAW short film the reverse bear trap on Leigh Wannel was actually fully functional and made of stainless steel meaning that if he hadn't got it off in time he actually would've ended up like this!
