for everyone scared of roller coasters because of this scene, i’ll break down everything that’s wrong with this scene: 0:00 restraints are always manually lowered, either by the rider or the ride operator. 0:12 hydraulic restraints are welded shut. 0:16 restraints can’t be moved up and down like that. 0:24 this ride operator is an asshole. 0:30 no ride operator with more than half a brain cell would let you put the camera in a loose pocket like that. you would get fired for that. 0:36 someone would have definitely noticed that camera. ride operators are constantly watching the riders for security checks. 0:42 “all clear” 0:46 most roller coasters require multiple people to be pressing a button, sometimes even multiple buttons simultaneously, to dispatch. 1:08 lift chains are much tighter around the track than this. 1:21 there are cameras on lift hills in the event that someone is misbehaving so that the ride operators can stop the lift hill and will usually actually confiscate a camera and then usually kick you out of the park. cameras always have to be approved by the park and they would never approve a handheld camcorder like that. 2:11 physics. 2:16 no camera in the world is strong enough and no wheel assembly in the world is weak enough for this to happen. 2:23 roller coaster trains usually have redundant restraints, meaning there are two mechanisms keeping the restraints locked in the microscopically small chance that one of them fails. 2:31 wheel assemblies are attached by more than a single nut. 2:55 the train would have stopped by this point due to a massive loss of speed from all the grinding metal and the derailment. 2:59 never in history has a roller coaster train completely come off the tracks during a ride. the number of safety mechanisms and wheel assemblies make this physically impossible without manually removing the wheel assemblies. 3:09 again, the train would not have been able to make it through this corkscrew due to the derailment. 3:23 roller coaster trains are made of steel. 3:31 still not how steel works. 3:50 fun fact, this roller coaster, corkscrew at playland in british columbia, doesn’t even have a vertical loop in real life! 4:24 roller coaster trains weigh several tons. two people would not be able to move one just by swinging around. 4:48 not how steel works. tl;dr, you’re more likely to die by tripping while in line for the ride than actually on the ride! there are more safety mechanisms on roller coasters than you can imagine! there are literally safety mechanisms on top of safety mechanisms! no more roller coaster slander!
For those of you who are scared by this: - The harnesses have multiple locking mechanisms. Even if one fails, it will stay locked down during the ride. - While some flat rides have harnesses that come down by themselves, all roller coasters with over-the-shoulder harnesses that I've been on have harnesses that you pull down yourself. - The last fatal roller coaster crash in the United Kingdom was in 1972.

As someone who was afraid of rollercoaster rides before seeing this, this is what I feel like will happen on the rollercoaster even though the chances are highly unlikely.
I've only heard of 2 accidents in developed nations which involved rollercoaster cars either derailing or having their restraints simultaneously fail, the Mindbender and the Sandblaster, within the past 45 years. So even saying "highly unlikely" is an over-statement.
Any final destination is scarier than any actual horror movie since it makes u think if it would happen to u in real life. edit: thx for the likes. Now when I look at this comment I kinda think that it’s dumb.
I've always been a big fan of roller coasters. This previous summer I worked at a theme park and all the employees got free season passes, so when I wasn't working, I'd be riding a bunch of rides. To those who are scared to ride roller coasters now, ride accidents were never this bad and they definitely never will be. I believe the worst ride accident was in the 70s. Correct me if I'm wrong. Ride attendance and mechanics make sure that the rides are a fun and safe experience for everyone. And the chance of someone getting injured while riding a roller coaster is really low so there's no need to worry.
Most/all roller coasters have seatbelts for situations like this. If the harness fails, which is extremely rare, then the seatbelt will keep the harness in place and prevent you from falling out. I was a ride operator for 3 years and I've never seen a restraint fail. At the park that I worked at, all rides have yearly inspections. They remove the cars from the tracks, dissemble them, and make any necessary repairs. Then then they'd make sure no there's no structural damage to the ride itself. I was also responsible for doing daily inspections and filling out a checklist. You're more likely to get into a car accident than a roller coaster accident.
@RaneemCart00n Art :3 falling 20-30 feet on hard metal? Your wrists would snap like a twig if you tried to grab them, and you would absolutely proceed to fall and die.
But only for a few minutes, before the blood drains down to your head. Maybe take a risk and try to climb on top of the rails? It's a stretch, I know...
when i was a kid, i was severely traumatized by final destination (especially the elevator scene where the head was cut off). i was banned from watching them. years later, i'm finding this type of thrill again. how time flies fast
@@14thill I think that he meant saying that, if there's even a minuscule problem, there are safety breaks all around the ride that stop the train for safe evacuation. Also it's impossible to get stuck on a vertical loop
Not really, gravity is pretty much doing all the work after the lift hill. The only way the train can be stopped is if they hit the emergency brakes that are on the tracks but there’s no way to stop the actual train alone.
I assumed it had something to do with the dripping fluid. Maybe that was the brake fluid so they couldn't stop it? I know nothing about these kinds of things. So feel free to call me an idiot.
Damn as a coaster enthusiast this of course won't happen, Coasters are built with loads of safety standards, But there is a moral here don't bring any loose objects on the ride it won't derail or push the restraints open but still can hurt people if the object hits someone
For anyone scared: A vending machine is more likely to kill you that a rollercoaster, and this is technically pretty impossible, so don’t worry! Edit: This comment is two fucking years old, can you all stop bashing me for something stupid and grow the fuck up 💀

@@stan_ateez1014 bro trust me don’t do. Roller Coasters are so incredibly safe and this movie scene is one of the most unrealistic movie scenes I’ve ever scene.
I watched this when I was around 6 or 7 years old and after that I got extremely terrified of rollercoasters, we've gone to theme parks and seeing the rollercoasters really made me shiver and think back to this scene. It wasn't around until I was like 14 years old where I finally conquered my fear and rode a roller coaster for the first time :D It was really fun and a bit scary still tho.
Well the movie wasnt the reason why I am still afraid of rollercoasters (the high and long ones, not the shorter versions) because I’ve never watched it, I’ve had my first time on a rollercoaster (a short but high one). It basically climbs up, turns around to its back, and reverses, and then it turns to its front side, and it goes forward all the way to the bottom and (I forgot to mention there was water) splashed water on us (my cousin, sister, me, and the rest of random people), after, I started to fucking tear up because of how terrifying it was for me, my brain wasn’t developed for this type of intensity and it still isn’t
I only don't ride rollercoasters because id probably vomit, like that one time I was on a swinging ship ride and almost vomited on the kids infront of me...
When I was around 4 or 5 (when the movie came out) and I walked in on my mom watching it during the tanning bed scene and she told me it was a scary movie. I left the room before the tanning beds caught fire so I always assumed the girls got out okay but it made me afraid of tanning beds. Tbh I thought it was some sort of rom-com and the two friends get in a wacky shenanigan. When I was like 10 or 11 I remembered that scene and was curious about where it was from. I found the scene on RUclips and realized that the girls died.
I was once on a roller coaster called 'Hades 360', and when I was at the top, I just had to remember this scene, truly anxiety-inducing. Keep in mind , this roller coaster has a 196 foot drop. And it was made of wood.
I’ve ridden 92 rollercoasters. I’ve been an expert on them for 7 years, and this scene PAINS me. The amount of impossible things that happen in this scene is absolutely inconceivable. None of the events shown here could EVER happen. And it makes me so sad that people are genuinely scared of coasters because of a movie. Rollercoasters are one of the safest activities in the entire world. Literally everything else at an amusement park has a higher chance of hurting you (food, bathrooms, other guests, etc) I hate this movie and I wish it never tainted the minds of gullible people
Goddamn why is everyone picking this scene apart? It's a movie about people escaping death and inevitably dying soon after as a result. Nothing about it makes sense. That one scene where dude gets his head busted by the loose weights was fucking awesome. I never cared about the fact that it's literally impossible for a decorative sword to fall off it's rack and have enough energy to slice clean through a thick ass metal fucking weight cable.
That’s why *don’t ever bring cameras on a roller coaster ever again* Edit: Been back for after a year! I cannot believe that I got this many likes! Thank you for your support!
A camera can never damage a cart in this way. Most hydralic cylinders on rollercoaster carts are located in the seat, not under it plus there are two for redundancy
I was terrified of roller coasters because of this movie. Until I realized the laws of physics and ride maintenance and safety, apparently don’t apply to this particular coaster.
3:07 bro when the guy flies out and the jock comes undone to catch him and holds onto him through like 5 loops is probably the most unrealistic thing ive ever seen ive never laughed so hard😂😂😂😂😂😂 plus the jock puts both his hands on his head when the thing breaks off and flies at them so my dude was legit floating on air for a good 3 seconds
The only scenes ive seen in th FD Series are the opening disasters of 3,4, and 5, i never really knew the movies, but i did know that there all connected somehow, plus i never knew there were two more movies (1 and 2)
for everyone scared: the coasters do not just fly off like that. the tracks overlay with the wheels so it will never, ever get out of tracks, the hydraulic fluid leak is not real, they are always welded shut, so it's impossible for them to leak. btw the ride would stop after 6 seconds due to the 'damage' that's never gonna happen in real life. no way the restraints are that loose, and also, you would have to press a button for the safety restraints to go up, not even one button, several buttons and several people would have to press buttons for the safety restraints to go up, and down. no camera in the world can just go around a track like that, it doesn't make sense, and just imagine, a camera destroying a whole rollercoaster which materials are obviously really strong, it just doesn't make sense, and, lastly, the human body is extremely strong, the bones are incredible, and, if this even ever happened, which will NEVER in a lifetime, you wouldn't die, heck, you won't even be severely injured, you would just be normally injured. that's how ridiculous this is. just a reminder that this a movie made to scare and make you paranoid. and that none of this exists, or has ever happened before.
The Kills: Jason, Carrie, 5 others: Struck by metal bars while falling to their deaths. (Presumably, because they were first on the list) Ashley: Fell to death. Ashlyn: Neck snapped upon hitting the ground. (Presumably, as she was still in the coaster car when it turned upside down, and the car likely would have landed that way too.) Frankie: Ground up between the tracks and the rollercoaster car. (When the coaster car he was in is seen falling, it is empty and we don't see him falling out of it, so the most likely option is that he was caught on the tracks and ran over.) Lewis: Back crushed by a metal bar, dies on impact. Ian: Face split by falling on the tracks after losing his grip (He would have hit his head on the second part of the loop as he was falling down, also evident by the sound effect heard right before Julie and Perry fall.) Erin: Fell to death. Julie: Same thing as Ian. Perry: Fell to death. Kevin: Sliced in half by bent metal. Wendy: Fell to death. Intended deaths: 16 Real-life deaths: 7
But still don't bring any loose articles on the ride. It may not tear apart the ride, but dropping something from over 100 feet in the air could be really dangerous if it hits someone.
For those who think something like this might happen to them: Rollercoasters have to run through so many tests before they can even open the ride, and you are more likely to die getting to the park then dying in a rollercoaster accident.
I hope everyone knows that a rollercoaster’s hydraulic restraint system does just have one master control for every seat, each seat has its own individual hydraulic restraint system so it’s nearly impossible for every restraint to just fail like that
When the wheels fall Off, it creates friction, causing it to stop. No Logic Here LOL Edit: plus, it is extremely rare for the train to get stuck on the top of the loop. The center of gravity will not be in the middle so it will either move forward or backward. The area with the most weight is also not in the middle. Edit 2: by the way if a train would get dyuck on top of the loop there must be a perfect match of winds, temperature andnpthers I do not remember. And this scene is filmed on an Vekoma Looping Coaster model and I do not remember the name of the coaster they used here. A lot of this scene is CGI. In real life, there would only be 2 corkscrews and no other loops such us the vertical loop you see is CGI.
Let's not forget the fact that when they all get off the ride the main cause....hydraulic fluid from pushing down the harness which wouldn't happen if he got off and the camera ruining the track which also never would have happens if he got off the coaster therefore the coaster wouldn't crash after they get off. This whole movie is flawed from the beginning
So many folks taking this clip too seriously so here’s my two cents: Your argument is valid if we will use PROBABILITY to guess the chance of this thing happening in real life however This death is not just based on probability, it was an assisted death, an event being manipulated by the so called “death” hence, some events that may look impossible to happen actually happened in here. The same applies to other final destination deaths. ALL death are unnatural because their deaths were all assitsted by “death”
All do you saying that it is impossible to get stuck on a vertical loop, you are correct except for one time. It was on the demon (I think). One of the parts of the cart got jammed in the wheels which stopped it during the vertical loop. Although it wasn’t fatal because the maintenance got the train down within half an hour so no need to be worried. There is probably a 0.000000000000000000000000000000000000000001% chance that it happens to you so. Also these harnesses used hydraulic fluid but they were ratcheting? (You can tell from the clicks they make) so I don’t understand how you can have hydraulic ratcheting restraints. Makes no sense
FINALLY SOMEONE WHO UNDERSTANDS THE MECHANISMS I WAS SO CONFUSED TO HEAR CLICKS BUT SEE A HYDRAULIC SYSTEM. can there be a mix I don’t think I’ve ever seen one but idek im only an engineering student so I’m still learning
just in case this worried anyone, I wanna let you all know that this is completely unrealistic and literally impossible to ever happen the hydraulic liquid that was leaking in the beginning doesn't just leak out of the pipes, as they are constantly checked and extremely secure. the ride was much longer than average, the camera would not have wrapped around the track and instead it would have just bounced off. also, they have extra systems put in place that would prevent the restraints from lifting even if the hydraulic system failed. there would not be any loose track pieces or random poles sticking out from the supports
for everyone scared of roller coasters because of this scene, i’ll break down everything that’s wrong with this scene:
0:00 restraints are always manually lowered, either by the rider or the ride operator.
0:42 “all clear”
0:46 most roller coasters require multiple people to be pressing a button, sometimes even multiple buttons simultaneously, to dispatch.

I've only heard of 2 accidents in developed nations which involved rollercoaster cars either derailing or having their restraints simultaneously fail, the Mindbender and the Sandblaster, within the past 45 years. So even saying "highly unlikely" is an over-statement.
To the extent that it happened in this scene? It’s technologically and mathematically impossible.

Sweden, Grona Lund amusement park, June 25th 2023, derailed roller coaster, casualties..
Ironically, hanging upside down was probably the safest place they could've been.

I conquered my fears on roller coasters when I was 13 years old and now I’m a roller coaster enthusiast.
I only don't ride rollercoasters because id probably vomit, like that one time I was on a swinging ship ride and almost vomited on the kids infront of me...

for everyone scared:
the coasters do not just fly off like that. the tracks overlay with the wheels so it will never, ever get out of tracks, the hydraulic fluid leak is not real, they are always welded shut, so it's impossible for them to leak. btw the ride would stop after 6 seconds due to the 'damage' that's never gonna happen in real life. no way the restraints are that loose, and also, you would have to press a button for the safety restraints to go up, not even one button, several buttons and several people would have to press buttons for the safety restraints to go up, and down. no camera in the world can just go around a track like that, it doesn't make sense, and just imagine, a camera destroying a whole rollercoaster which materials are obviously really strong, it just doesn't make sense, and, lastly, the human body is extremely strong, the bones are incredible, and, if this even ever happened, which will NEVER in a lifetime, you wouldn't die, heck, you won't even be severely injured, you would just be normally injured. that's how ridiculous this is. just a reminder that this a movie made to scare and make you paranoid. and that none of this exists, or has ever happened before.
The Kills:
Jason, Carrie, 5 others: Struck by metal bars while falling to their deaths. (Presumably, because they were first on the list)
Ashley: Fell to death.
Ashlyn: Neck snapped upon hitting the ground. (Presumably, as she was still in the coaster car when it turned upside down, and the car likely would have landed that way too.)
Frankie: Ground up between the tracks and the rollercoaster car. (When the coaster car he was in is seen falling, it is empty and we don't see him falling out of it, so the most likely option is that he was caught on the tracks and ran over.)
Lewis: Back crushed by a metal bar, dies on impact.
Ian: Face split by falling on the tracks after losing his grip (He would have hit his head on the second part of the loop as he was falling down, also evident by the sound effect heard right before Julie and Perry fall.)
Erin: Fell to death.
Julie: Same thing as Ian.
Perry: Fell to death.
Kevin: Sliced in half by bent metal.

Rollercoasters have to run through so many tests before they can even open the ride, and you are more likely to die getting to the park then dying in a rollercoaster accident.

No Logic Here LOL
Edit: plus, it is
extremely rare for the train to get stuck on the top of the loop.

All do you saying that it is impossible to get stuck on a vertical loop, you are correct except for one time. It was on the demon (I think). Although it wasn’t fatal because the maintenance got the train down within half an hour so no need to be worried. the hydraulic liquid that was leaking in the beginning doesn't just leak out of the pipes, as they are constantly checked and extremely secure. the ride was much longer than average, the camera would not have wrapped around the track and instead it would have just bounced off. also, they have extra systems put in place that would prevent the restraints from lifting even if the hydraulic system failed. there would not be any loose track pieces or random poles sticking out from the supports
