For those of you who are scared by this:
- The harnesses have multiple locking mechanisms. Even if one fails, it will stay locked down during the ride.
- While some flat rides have harnesses that come down by themselves, all roller coasters with over-the-shoulder harnesses that I've been on have harnesses that you pull down yourself.
- The last fatal roller coaster crash in the United Kingdom was in 1972.
1972?? It's only a matter time before there's another crash 😰

@Zo0m1q2 this comment is gold lol
UK. Tons in the US.
for everyone scared of roller coasters because of this scene, i’ll break down everything that’s wrong with this scene:
0:00 restraints are always manually lowered, either by the rider or the ride operator.
0:12 hydraulic restraints are welded shut.
0:16 restraints can’t be moved up and down like that.
0:24 this ride operator is an asshole.
0:30 no ride operator with more than half a brain cell would let you put the camera in a loose pocket like that. you would get fired for that.
0:36 someone would have definitely noticed that camera. ride operators are constantly watching the riders for security checks.
0:42 the correct call here would be “all clear” or “dispatch”
0:46 most roller coasters require multiple people to be pressing a button, sometimes even multiple buttons simultaneously, to dispatch.
1:08 lift chains are much tighter around the track than this.
1:21 there are cameras on lift hills in the event that someone is misbehaving so that the ride operators can stop the lift hill and will usually actually confiscate a camera and then usually kick you out of the park. cameras always have to be approved by the park and they would never approve a handheld camcorder like that.
2:11 physics.
2:16 no camera in the world is strong enough and no wheel assembly in the world is weak enough for this to happen.
2:23 roller coaster trains usually have redundant restraints, meaning there are two mechanisms keeping the restraints locked in the microscopically small chance that one of them fails.
2:31 wheel assemblies are attached by more than a single nut.
2:55 the train would have stopped by this point due to a massive loss of speed from all the grinding metal and the derailment.
2:59 never in history has a roller coaster train completely come off the tracks during a ride. the number of safety mechanisms and wheel assemblies make this physically impossible without manually removing the wheel assemblies.
3:09 again, the train would not have been able to make it through this corkscrew due to the derailment.
3:23 roller coaster trains are made of steel.
3:31 still not how steel works.
3:50 fun fact, this roller coaster, corkscrew at playland in british columbia, doesn’t even have a vertical loop in real life!
4:24 roller coaster trains weigh several tons. two people would not be able to move one just by swinging around.
4:48 not how steel works.
tl;dr, you’re more likely to die by tripping while in line for the ride than actually on the ride! there are more safety mechanisms on roller coasters than you can imagine! there are literally safety mechanisms on top of safety mechanisms! no more roller coaster slander!
Thank you for this! makes me less scared of roller coasters 😂

This scene was filmed both at the beginning and end of production and took 14 days total to do. for fellow people that are a little scared of coasters, don’t worry. the chance of this happening is probably none at all. i’ve ridden 3 coasters (4 if u count double tracks as their separate coaster). while roller coasters do malfunction once in a while, the chance of a fatal accident is slim. the ride operator, unless they have been dropped more times that they can count at birth, will probably grab the camera and put it in a storage.

I conquered my fears on roller coasters when I was 13 years old and now I’m a roller coaster enthusiast.
Well the movie wasnt the reason why I am still afraid of rollercoasters (the high and long ones, not the shorter versions) because I’ve never watched it, I’ve had my first time on a rollercoaster (a short but high one). It basically climbs up, turns around to its back, and reverses, and then it turns to its front side, and it goes forward all the way to the bottom and (I forgot to mention there was water) splashed water on us (my cousin, sister, me, and the rest of random people), after, I started to fucking tear up because of how terrifying it was for me, my brain wasn’t developed for this type of intensity and it still isn’t
I only don't ride rollercoasters because id probably vomit, like that one time I was on a swinging ship ride and almost vomited on the kids infront of me...
When I was around 4 or 5 (when the movie came out) and I walked in on my mom watching it during the tanning bed scene and she told me it was a scary movie. I've always been a big fan of roller coasters. This previous summer I worked at a theme park and all the employees got free season passes, so when I wasn't working, I'd be riding a bunch of rides. To those who are scared to ride roller coasters now, ride accidents were never this bad and they definitely never will be. I believe the worst ride accident was in the 70s. Correct me if I'm wrong. Ride attendance and mechanics make sure that the rides are a fun and safe experience for everyone. And the chance of someone getting injured while riding a roller coaster is really low so there's no need to worry.
Sweden, Grona Lund amusement park, June 25th 2023, derailed roller coaster, casualties..
Most/all roller coasters have seatbelts for situations like this. If the harness fails, which is extremely rare, then the seatbelt will keep the harness in place and prevent you from falling out. I was a ride operator for 3 years and I've never seen a restraint fail. At the park that I worked at, all rides have yearly inspections. They remove the cars from the tracks, dissemble them, and make any necessary repairs. Then then they'd make sure no there's no structural damage to the ride itself. I was also responsible for doing daily inspections and filling out a checklist. You're more likely to get into a car accident than a roller coaster accident.
Allah is one God God is Allah Allah has 99 names Allah is almighty
When the wheels fall Off, it creates friction, causing it to stop. No Logic Here LOL
Edit: plus, it is
extremely rare for the train to get stuck on the top of the loop. The center of gravity will not be in the middle so it will either move forward or backward. The area with the most weight is also not in the middle.
Edit 2: by the way if a train would get dyuck on top of the loop there must be a perfect match of winds, temperature andnpthers I do not remember.
And this scene is filmed on an Vekoma Looping Coaster model and I do not remember the name of the coaster they used here. A lot of this scene is CGI. In real life, there would only be 2 corkscrews and no other loops such us the vertical loop you see is CGI.
Ayrton gaming these guys are beyond science bro😂
Let's not forget the fact that when they all get off the ride the main cause....hydraulic fluid from pushing down the harness which wouldn't happen if he got off and the camera ruining the track which also never would have happens if he got off the coaster therefore the coaster wouldn't crash after they get off. This whole movie is flawed from the beginning

I really shouldn’t watch this 3 days before I go to six flags😂
i watched this a day after i went to six flags 😂
Here's my thoughts: Wendy had a bad feeling or at least was already nervous about going on the roller coaster. If she hadn't gotten on at all & decided to just say "fuck it; I'll skip it" would death had spared her? She never got on where it became her time only because she did. Plus a big part of the disaster in the premonition was Frankie's camera; Frankie got off so no camera in real life. I know, I know: its a movie, movie logic & they would have come up with something else plus the roller coaster was meant to fail anyway regardless of the camera but still...
Back when this was on DVD you could choose their decisions, it was a choose your own adventure on the DVD. I chose the option where she said "F it" and the entire movie ended in 1 minute. Basically she saved herself, her boyfriend, Kevin and her girl friend, but they all basically separated and went their own way.

I’m sure thousands of people have seen this scene, gotten scared, and yet still take their phone out on a roller coaster.
No just a fair ride 🥴. I haven't been to those in about a decade tho. Wait, some few yrs ago. But we were "flying" & that would've just dropped in the grass. Also was acknowledging how worse off they r. And I've been on cool ones. It's just I def remember 1 stalling. & We were def at the top, upside down. I was like.. idk how old I was. But I was still in elementary school.
just in case this worried anyone, I wanna let you all know that this is completely unrealistic and literally impossible to ever happen
the hydraulic liquid that was leaking in the beginning doesn't just leak out of the pipes, as they are constantly checked and extremely secure. the ride was much longer than average, the camera would not have wrapped around the track and instead it would have just bounced off. also, they have extra systems put in place that would prevent the restraints from lifting even if the hydraulic system failed. there would not be any loose track pieces or random poles sticking out from the supports
It was even a ratcheting restraint so those hydralic pipes don't serve eny purpose
@@happysword258 yep

We all think of this scene every damn time we get on a roller coaster now
Did last friday and i loved it, being scared is a thrill i enjoy.
i’m going to universal to ride the coasters in two weeks and i keep rewatching this scene 😂
Death : this series never fail in putting a smile on my face.
These films got funnier and funnier. Which was the one where the bridge collapses at the beginning.... hilarious 😂
I hope everyone knows that a rollercoaster’s hydraulic restraint system does just have one master control for every seat, each seat has its own individual hydraulic restraint system so it’s nearly impossible for every restraint to just fail like that
I’m still so baffled why it clicked aswell cause that’s for mechanical restraints
Mary Elizabeth winstead (Wendy) is such a underrated actress
I had this movie in my phone when I was a kid; I used to watch it every night before sleep . Nostalgic
I love watching Final Destination before bed but then regret it because i ended up having nightmares about only me and Alex giving our lives to save everyone on Flight 800 but then it takes a very dark turn soon after we get into the cockpit. I hear a very huge explosion and luckily i don’t see Molly falling. After Alex witnesses Molly fall, he does the unthinkable and puts the plane down at 500mph because there was no hope left in saving Flight 800. I’ll never forget the most gut wrenching scene during the saving Flight 800 attempt when Alex held my hand one more time before putting both of our hands on the yoke to put it down. To find out it was just my premonition
@@nicolelawless9942 woh!! Looks like a very scary nightmare.
I didn't actually have kind of nightmare after watching this film but it kind of become my habit to watch it every night before sleep, I watched all the other part after watching this one.

Roller Coasters according to Anxiety:
Yes yes
I remember recommending this movie to a friend the day before he went to beto carrero park to ride the first inverted roller coaster in brazil. Great times before covid.
My suspension of disbelief was interrupted by how the camera landed on the track 🤣
2:15 when you want a rollercoaster to be more scary
When I was younger and was riding rollercoasters, nothing ever happened but then there was this one time where the part that’s supposed to hold you down came loose, just like in this movie. I tried to push it down but it didn’t want to click or anything, so all my screaming was the scream of pure terror as I clung to it. The only reason I didn’t fly out of the seat is that there was a seatbelt stuck from between my legs to the thing that holds you down. The damn thing saved my life. Now I NEVER ride a rollercoaster like this one without that seatbelt. No way, no how. Ever. No matter how much fun it looks like.
The fact they got stuck on top of the loop is the most hilarious thing ever 😭
All do you saying that it is impossible to get stuck on a vertical loop, you are correct except for one time. It was on the demon (I think). One of the parts of the cart got jammed in the wheels which stopped it during the vertical loop. Although it wasn’t fatal because the maintenance got the train down within half an hour so no need to be worried. There is probably a 0.000000000000000000000000000000000000000001% chance that it happens to you so.
Also these harnesses used hydraulic fluid but they were ratcheting? (You can tell from the clicks they make) so I don’t understand how you can have hydraulic ratcheting restraints. Makes no sense
i've searched for this comment
FINALLY SOMEONE WHO UNDERSTANDS THE MECHANISMS I WAS SO CONFUSED TO HEAR CLICKS BUT SEE A HYDRAULIC SYSTEM. can there be a mix I don’t think I’ve ever seen one but idek im only an engineering student so I’m still learning

@@regen3128 yeah I saw that 💀
Instead of rocking it back and forth I would’ve tried to get on top of the track so I could wait for help.
But what if the coaster came down and it ran you over
you wouldn't think about it when you're about to die
This actually happened in Sweden. People flew out and died. One couple actually survived. The man landed on that steel set up and holded on. The wife was lucky to land in the grass but broke almost every bone. They was on the news
Damn as a coaster enthusiast this of course won't happen, Coasters are built with loads of safety standards, But there is a moral here don't bring any loose objects on the ride it won't derail or push the restraints open but still can hurt people if the object hits someone
Don't Blame camera they were warned still they took it with them so ...

Every final destination movie is my comfort movie. Will I ever forgive myself 😭😂
I've watched this scene through a few times going through it frame by frame when the cars hit the camera and when various things fall off.
As people in the comments pointed out, the camera didn't cause the accident. It wasn't the sole reason the fluid line came apart nor the wheels to come loose.
At 2:30 the left rail of the coaster track is broken, which creates another, harder, jolt that would have kicked off everything falling apart regardless.
The piece under the first cart at 2:47 just kind of falls off and flies into the wheel assembly opposite the loosened wheel at causes them to freeze and grind against the rail (creating the sparks) until they snap the nuts and fall off.
The connection between the first and second cart releases and, with no wheels to hold onto the inner rail at the corner, the first cart comes off the track
All these years later and this scene still makes me feet and palms sweat 😂 didn't stop me from riding them but added this scene tho!
It will forever annoy me that her sister and her sisters friend can never be seen in the premonition, they just die before her boyfriend does.
For those wondering the camera isn't what caused the crash, it just accelerated the problem which caused everyone to die. The hydraulics were always gonna leak and cause the carts and harnesses to come loose. The sparks would not only pop the wheels but also loosen the magnets holding the cart on the tracks. Also the reason it feels long is because when they show shots of the tracks then everyone's reaction they're happening at the same time. Most stuff is shown twice, it would probably be a two minute ride.
Edit: On closer inspection I see now that the two Ashley's must fall out when the carts originally come off with Wendy's friend and boyfriend and the other two that fall out when it's upside down are Julie and her friend.
theres no magnets holding the train to the tracks..its called a wheel dog assembly..theres wheels that ride the top of the rail (riders), wheels inside the rails (guiders), and wheels below the rails (holders)...
it bothers me too that we can’t see her friends! i always wonder was there a last minute storyline change or was it always there for a “dramatic plot twist
If you put the video on 0.25x at 2:30 then you can definitely tell that the tracks are broken. Took me many years to recognize that.
