Great video John. You always keep me laughing, I think the same thoughts during my round and I am a 5 handicap! I feel the struggle. One thing that might help, that I have found myself struggling with, make your practice swing/stroke count. On your practice swing/stroke, do exactly what you want to do on the ball, and replicate that feeling. Don't swing until you're comfortable. You're the man, can't wait to see the back 9.
Hi John, well played for not giving up my friend. like you I struggle at times and what I have noticed is that when things are going well its great but when something goes wrong I cant seem to fix things quickly, so end up with a series of bad holes.
This dude is so funny. You always know what’s gonna happen. “I’m so excited to play......and here we go again, all bad”. Hahahaha. That’s me every time too man.
Hi Jon I’m a golfer from the ft Myers Florida area and I have a simple tip for you that will help you with your shots, this tip is when you are going through the Downswing, try to feel pole your turning your chest as fast as you can towards the tstget and let your arms free and come through after, hope this helps!
Another great upload, you have to play smart. I think what your trying to do is hit the ball further than you want it to. You have to hit a nice drive off of the tee, not driving it 200 and in the trees, drive it 170 and in the fairway. You just have to think before you hit. With your putting it’s not bad, you get down on yourself when you don’t make a 12 footer, get it close and tap it in, not a big deal. Just simple things you have to work on.
Ive been having the same problem pulling my shots. A fix that I’ve found is that if you try to throw you club hit towards a point in front of the ball and farther away from you, (doubt that made sense) it helps.
Keep up the motivation but a bit of advice, when you were in the bunker on hole #8, it looks like you grounded your club prior to hitting your shot. That’s a penalty. I could be wrong but you could even see the indentation from the club prior also
Hey bud, you’re great from the bunkers because like most amateurs you have an out to in swing, or “over the top” which is how you would want to play bunker shots. You slice with your normal swing from your “OTT” swing plane, and hook with the same plane and a closed club face. If I were your coach I would work on finding a neutral club face at impact first. Find a consistent strike location before worrying about the swing direction. This can come from half and 3/4 swings and feeling when your hands release. You’re hands fight off turning over when your swing over the top. Using a smaller backswing minimizes the amount of variance from the top to back to the ball. Lastly a little more technical. And it might be harder from your size. Is obviously less sway away and towards the ball. More arms and less big muscles. Your arms and wrist generate your speed. Not your chest or “swaying.” Putting takes time. The right length and putter grip. Keep it up!
$130 to get new shafts, holy cow! I had a sand wedge literally snap between my hands, half way up the grip, but it was pretty cheap to get it replaced. It might be a Ping vs Nike thing though. Thanks for the video.
On you short iron shots and bunker i notice you decelerate. I used to do that and that’s where the chunking originated from. Practice on the range with shorter takeaways and accelerate thru the ball. I have been practicing doing that and my chipping and short iron shots have improved my score by at least 4-5 strokes per round.
Hey john, tried to add you on the grint it wouldn’t bring u up in the search. I did use you for the referral though. I’m in the Toledo are and play as much as I can. I work seconds so I usually play alone so this app will be great. Keep up the good work, and if you ever want to play lmk
Your lipping out because the toe of your putter is up. Keep more square and play it more off your left foot. Can't wait to see the improvements. Love watching the videos
Hey man I love ur videos I think ur very funny and pretty inspirational and I think you should make videos more often bc I love watching them keep up the good work and remember to keep a good PMA “Positive mental attitude” that’s what my coach says and it works for me. Good luck!
Sup man huge fan I have watched all your episodes and I’m left handed and I struggle with pulling my driver too. Don’t cut your swing short it won’t work out and you’ll lose distance. Stay true w/ your swing and swing through. It’s an effortless swing and you do not need to swing as hard as possible that just makes it worse. Huge fan though keep uploading more video please and practice 6 foot putts
John your putting is killing me 😂 dude you would be such a good golfer if you just get your putting down. Just go to the Greens maybe practice new grip or something but that’s all you need to work on. Good luck and keep the uploads coming
Talking as someone with similar issues, if you can keep control of your metal side of your game the scores will come down. The more angry I get the worse I play. I know you cant just not get angry, but if you work at it, it does help. "a bad attitude is worse than a bad swing". Hope you dont think im being preachy, im only saying it because I struggled like yourself.
If the ball is embedded in its own divot you are allowed to remove it and place it as near where it was previously at rest and there is no penalty just to save you some frustration sometime!
A lot of my rounds this year have been like this round. If you're not hitting fairways and greens, you're struggling to make par and if its not fun lol
Hey. I watch all your videos. Just wondering if you warm up on the range before u tee off? I always struggled on the front 9 and had better back nines until I started hitting a small bucket just to get loose. Took a average of 6 shots off my front nine scores. Was in the low 90’s now I’m low to mid 80’s. Hope it helps.
John, are you practicing or warming up prior to hitting the course? It seems like your back 9 is typically a disproportionately better performance than your front 9. Just wondering.
I’m no expert but from watching you putt I think you should use your shoulders more for push instead of relying on your hands so much and also see the ball longer on you putter so you know you center it and not toe it. On your drive or short par three holes you should swing much easier and maybe try a higher iron. Like the par 3 135yrd hole you went with a hybrid instead maybe a seven with a nice and easy swing at like 45-50% swing speed. Same thing with your drive take back slower and when you come back through the impact zone come back nice and easy to avoid the pulls and pushes to your left and right. That’s all love you channel and be more confident don’t think so much just line it up and hit it 👍🏽👍🏽
Hey John, I see that your lining up the ball against the heel of the club instead of you lining up more to the face. I suggest you stand a little taller and you will have massive improvements in accuracy
John I will give you a little tip for keeping that right arm in, go to the driving range and do little half swings with that elbow in, once you get comfortable doing that start increasing your swing distance this will take a 100 balls or more just depends on how well you are at changing your swing which from some of your older videos you seem to be able to change your swing pretty well.
I agree, your outside in swing is the root cause for the majority of your problems. Also, Invision striking the ball with the back of your left hand. This will keep your club face squared up and also cure that wrist flick you have on those shots that go very high but not far.
Imagine how good u would be if u get rid of some pounds. This is no hate my friend im agolfer and i had 190 Kilos and i had still fun on the round and i was able to play 18 holes with my 190 kilos. now i almost lost all the overweight and the golf is extrem better now. I still watching ur videos because i can feel with u.
@@FatGuyGolf oh ok I've been looking for a reliable one that's mobile but alas I guess the technology doesn't exist yet lol btw if you ever want to come down south I can get you on my home course without having to pay anything and it's actually in amazing shape.
fair enough, but distance will come as you improve overall. quickest way to get in trouble is trying to overpower a course. swing at 90% to be more accurate and your scores will improve right away. If you drove it mostly in the fairway or at least in the edges of the rough, you'd cut a good 6-10 strokes off your score by getting rid of the recovery shots
this reason why you hit hooks and slices, is because your hips stall, so you have to use your hands and arms, which causes you either come over the top with a closed face or an open face. also, your grip looks at tad too strong.
I read "Mankini golf course" ...I have to say I'm slightly disappointed now
Hell yes an upload!! Always looking forward to your videos! Keep grinding man
Rj Johnson True that
Just shot my best round ever of 83 for 18 holes with a 39 on the back 9! Best back 9 of my life cant wait to see yours man
Seriously my favourite golfing RUclips series
I literally just played manakiki front 9 two hours ago I just got home thanks for the traffic on 271... I shot 60... The struggle is real my friend

Love your videos big John keep them coming. I love this game but it will keep you humble

Good going turn more to the right with your driver and with putter finish towards hole not left of hole look behind ball thru swing to finish
Love this course, play it regularly! Hopefully I'll catch ya out there sometime!
Has certainly gotten higher, and there are better courses. Close to me so I usually grab a round after work or something lol!
Hell ya Mr. Baker. You're hitting the golf vlog game hard.
Yes another upload!! Love it
Your short game is on point. I’m a 18 handicap also. You definitely got robbed on some of those puts. Love your videos!

Hey John, what app/software do you use for the shot tracing in your videos?
Love your videos! You need a tripod tho, or a mono pod... it would help you with your shot tracker
I’m no expert but from watching you putt I think you should use your shoulders more for push instead of relying on your hands so much and also see the ball longer on you putter so you know you center it and not toe it. Nice one John, loving the shot tracer, but it really needs to be tripod mounted, just goes all over the place. Keep the vids comin.
ha ha fair enough. Man I know about the lipped out putts, played yesterday and they killed me.
Hey John, I see that your lining up the ball against the heel of the club instead of you lining up more to the face. I suggest you stand a little taller and you will have massive improvements in accuracy
Yes !!!! A new video
Good putting skill you got there fast. Your tee/fairway work needs to be fixed. Good luck happy golfing!
Love watching the videos man! Have you ever played at Pine ridge country club in Wickliffe ?
looking forward to the back 9 ...
Are you working on your weight at all John? It's killing your distance. I know you got the strength in you to send it out there.
This reminds me of my round on Monday. Probably my worst round of the year. Idk what happened. Played 9 holes after work and shot like a 47.
No need to ship your clubs to Ping for new shafts! Love the videos!
The new logo is awesome 👏🏻🏆
Love the new logo. Did you change clubs recently? Your flops are looking better and your drives are looking worse.
hey john, what ball are you using in this? Are they Callaway Warbirds?
You should do a couple of driving range/ putting green vids and maybe we can critique you and give you some good tips to try out and help your game.?
at 1:55 how in the world did you pop it up in the air like that with a fairway metal?!?!
90 for top 3 in the clubhouse, I'm 17 averaging 85 might come to Cleveland and give you a run for your money ;)
I’m 14 averaging 73
How are you an 18 hdcp. If I've never seen you hit under 20+
John I will give you a little tip for keeping that right arm in, go to the driving range and do little half swings with that elbow in, once you get comfortable doing that start increasing your swing distance this will take a 100 balls or more just depends on how well you are at changing your swing which from some of your older videos you seem to be able to change your swing pretty well.

Worked wonders for my swing still have the usual slice hiccups every now and then but no where near as bad
Love theses videos keep up the good work.
I can related to you definitely...... i shank, a lot..... keep grinding man! I thoroughly enjoy your channel btw.
I remember shooting 50 on the front followed by a 39 on the back for a round of 89. I was pretty happy.
At 3:50 you were aimed that way it was a great drive just in the wrong direction by the way love the videos
Thanks for responding it is cool to know you responded yeah everybody hits a bad shot sometimes
Imagine how good u would be if u get rid of some pounds. i cant wait for episode 10!
Love your videos!
I love your videos man, you're so funny
What does he use for ball tracing with distance tracking?
@@FatGuyGolf Thanks a lot!
Awesome short game keep it up! Just have to work on those drives bud
I love this channel
Dude I love your videos. What shot tracer app are you using?
@@FatGuyGolf oh ok I've been looking for a reliable one that's mobile but alas I guess the technology doesn't exist yet lol btw if you ever want to come down south I can get you on my home course without having to pay anything and it's actually in amazing shape.
looks like the yanks left because you try to hard to kill it and your front shoulder flies open. keep your shoulders square until after contact
fair enough, but distance will come as you improve overall.

How much did it cost to rent the place out for the day?
We didn’t rent the place out??? We just played golf and filmed it - it doesn’t take any extra time lol
I love your videoes. Yesterday I made an eagle:)
Chips looking good man!
I love your vids keep uploading
You forgot to add 2 strokes for grounding your club in the hazard
Greetings from Finland! I just like to watch your play (HCP 5.2)
What do you use on the fairway, is that a 3 wood or a hybrid?
John Baker thanks bud!
I don’t know y I clicked on this but I’m glad I did
That was actually a hell of a putt on hole one...
I follow you on the Grint App but, my Grint handicap has 0% Attest, how do I change that?
Also, love the videos bro, keep up the good work.
