I think Vai is not a shredder. Shredders like Rusty Cooley, MAB, or other metalheada could fit your statement but Vai is so much more than just fast playing. Window to the Soul, The Riddle, Touching Tongues, Vodoo Acid, come on I mean, he's much more than a fast guitar player.
