(not quite) One Year of Cello Progress

- I found this unfinished edit of my cello learning progress and decided it was not too late to upload it anyways. I have always been and still am mesmerized by this beautiful instrument, so in my last year of highschool I fulfilled a dream and convinced my parents to let me take cello lessons (dropped the piano lessons instead). It was quite a challenge but luckily I already came from a musical background having had recorder and piano lessons for quite some time at this point. I kept up practicing the cello for three years in total before college got too much and I couldn't find the time anymore. But I hope to get back to it one day!
And sorry for the bad audio quality oops.

I am starting cello at 51 years old after playing piano for 20 years. It is so difficult! Your video helped to show me normal progress and I will try to be patient and easy on myself...🙂
Hope you’ve found the channel “Adult Cello.” He has lots of good advice about what to expect of yourself and how to help yourself feel good about your progress. My favorite advice he gives is to pick pieces to learn that are beautiful yet simple. It’s hard to feel good about your progress if you’re always playing nursery tunes, ya know?!
I started when I was 48. I live in a small town and a violin/piano teacher taught me cello for two years. Then she told me she had nothing else for me. So I played, watch RUclips videos and slogged along ignorantly. I am now living near Las Vegas for 18 months and I'm taking lessons from a professional cellist. It is GREAT and I'm learning a lot. IT'S NEVER TOO LATE.
i started when i was 11
@@jeffmarett321 have you participated in any quartets? The thing I miss most about band is playing with others (brass band, but I'm considering picking up cello).
Vibrato 1 month in is amazing
I'm 9 years in
you definitely made more progress than I made my first year
Cello is so beautiful!!! I loved to see your progress. I dream of learning cello :)
You're amazing! A hug, from Brazil.
Developing an ear for flats and sharps at the very beginning is key. It'll help with every part of your playing.
I’ve been playing cello for 7 years and you are doing so good at one year ❤
Wonderful! I hope you're able to get back into it! I have a history of piano and have a cello which I hope to get good at one day. Thank you for sharing!
You playing the Flintstones gave me a flashback to when I started playing in like 5th or sixth grade. Made me tear up a bit lol keep at it you're doing great!!!!
good job still. hope you get back to the cello. want to learn to play it one day.
hope you're still playing, the progress is great! only a year wow, you will be an excellent cellist in the future.
Nice!P.S.yeah flintstones theme surely caught me of guard
Congrats, sister. Very well done 👏
Good job !! ❣❣
THATS AMAZING 🥺🥺
The spaghetti monster has blessed me with his presence, thank you!🙇🏻♀️
I just hope i can progress at half that rate. Well done.
you can easily! just practice a little bit everyday or at least squeeze in a little time here and there when you can even when you're not motivated!
Keep going for it! I've been playing Cello for 10 years and just got my grade 8 exam done (with a pass). Although it wasn't the most fun activity and sometime I had the thought of outright quitting, my parents nagging eventually got me to complete it.
Also, amazing technique... I can't say that I have the same bow hold
Just great for a year! you learned more than I did in a year!, I was so worried and anxious every moment learning cello in 7th grade! Now I'm in 9th grade! You may as find yourself not sounding great but that's the beauty of cello, its fascinating how much your articulation can improve with practice. I know this video was recording was ages but one word of critique is that your arm and hand is WAYY too stiff.
I'm thinking of learning cello but not in the classical music.
Your video made me reconsider rily getting one fr.
There are many things you can play on cello! You don't have to play classical pieces if you don't want to. I'm in a string orchestra and we don't play classical music often, just fun interesting music
Finest cello player i seen
Awesome progress at 3 months.. which cello is this? A beginner model?
nice! any update as of 2023 march?
Your rendition of Scarborough Fair was beautiful!
Thank you so much, happy to hear! :)
It's not a rendition 😂
0:53 Apparently this tune isn't played in the airport in Dubai. But Abu Dhabi do.
How many hours a day or week did you put in for practice?
I can tell the seven month mark is where it clicked for you!
the cello has been my favorite instrument ever since i was little, i’m so excited to finally start learning it, thank you so much for this motivation 🫢😊
Would you mind sharing the names of the pieces you play at each stage? Obviously I know the Flintstones theme, but I'd love to try some of the more beautiful pieces you play
So bautiful..Cello always makes me cry. Which piece is month 8? Sounds like Lord of the rings or something familar..
Пожалуйста, если можете, исправьте правую руку. Она очень зажата. А с такой рукой играть быстрые произведения не получится! И еще хотела спросить. Вы самоучка? Удачи вам! У вас очень хорошо получается❤
I'm going to start playing the cello. My instrument is the classical guitar and I have been playing for more than 40 years. I taught myself to play the piano. How much time do you have to spend rehearsing to play the cello?
I'm no music teacher but I think even if it's just 20 min. a day you'll surely progress. Consistency is key ;)
Ok but can we also talk about the glowup that was happening at the same time 😍
She look like she’s about to die
That's not the point
@@cicithehumanno need to be jealous
@@justme-tz1vf I'm not-
@@justme-tz1vf just that this video is about a cello progress throughout the years, not a glowup
How many days a week do you practice and how many hours a day? Excellent evolution. Hail from Brazil :)
Hi, sorry for the late answer. This was my highschool graduation year, so learning the cello was not my first priority. I think I practised maybe 2-3 hours a week? I've had a lot of musical education before though, which certainly had it's influence on my progress.
good on you for persevering; please don't sell your cello, someday it may call you home :)
but is the cello a 4/4? anyway you are very good congratulations :)
Thank you! The cello is a 7/8. I have relatively small hands so this was the better option for me :)
May I know how many hours you practice every week to make that progress?😂
Hi as far as I remember it was around 2-3 hours a week :)
Horrible.
Did you not read that she’s been playing for only (almost) a year? Cello is one of the hardest instruments to learn, even harder for adult learners as we don’t have the developmental capacity of young children. As a musician myself, I found watching her progress absolutely inspiring.
She has talent for cello. This is good. @@evieashton8099
@@evieashton8099I did, too. ... I'd be happy with that result a year and a half in.
