(not quite) One Year of Cello Progress
I found this unfinished edit of my cello learning progress and decided it was not too late to upload it anyways. I have always been and still am mesmerized by this beautiful instrument, so in my last year of highschool I fulfilled a dream and convinced my parents to let me take cello lessons (dropped the piano lessons instead). It was quite a challenge but luckily I already came from a musical background having had recorder and piano lessons for quite some time at this point. I kept up practicing the cello for three years in total before college got too much and I couldn't find the time anymore. But I hope to get back to it one day!
And sorry for the bad audio quality oops.

It's the same as every year :D I'm participating in a drawing copetition again, from the same convention in Switzerland, Zofingen. I won't give up until I reach the first place, so I can have an artists desk the next time ò3ó This year 'Lantern Festival' was given and I took the chance to draw the full moon festival from my second home-city Hoi An. It was quite a bit work to do a one-layer-styl...

I decorated the front page of my new sketchbook. The old one is full, maybe I'll make a video about it. The quality isn't very good there was probably something wrong with the camera-settings. Here's my very first cover of a musicpiece. It was very fun playing and arranging it although I did some mistakes. At 1:27 my finger slipped, but it sounded very cool :'D Also the percussion isn't the best but my ressources are limited, so don't be too harsh with me. It's not easy to manage the tuning and rhythm when you're playing only one part at once.. For the video- and soundediting i used ...

The drawing was for a convention in Zofingen, Switzerland. The theme was 'Me in my favourite game' and I immediately had to think of Mario Kart. I'm the left one my brother the right and my best friend follows behind. It was approximately 11 hours of work but I finally got the second price and the special price too and I'm really proud of it^^ ▼Instagram:▼ padeera ▼DeviantArt:▼ j...

Did you have training in another stringed instrument prior to starting the cello? . . . Very, very few students are ready to start vibrato one month in, and very, very few students are going to be play in positions other than first position only two months in. It appears that you have experience on another instrument, or you are a natural, or you put in a lot of work, but the truth is very few students will progress at this rate.

Just great for a year! you learned more than I did in a year!, I was so worried and anxious every moment learning cello in 7th grade! Now I'm in 9th grade! You may as find yourself not sounding great but that's the beauty of cello, its fascinating how much your articulation can improve with practice. I know this video was recording was ages but one word of critique is that your arm and hand is WAYY too stiff.

Hope you’ve found the channel “Adult Cello.” He has lots of good advice about what to expect of yourself and how to help yourself feel good about your progress. My favorite advice he gives is to pick pieces to learn that are beautiful yet simple. It’s hard to feel good about your progress if you’re always playing nursery tunes, ya know?!

I started when I was 48. I live in a small town and a violin/piano teacher taught me cello for two years. Then she told me she had nothing else for me. So I played, watch RUclips videos and slogged along ignorantly. I am now living near Las Vegas for 18 months and I'm taking lessons from a professional cellist. It is GREAT and I'm learning a lot. IT'S NEVER TOO LATE.
