Why cut it three times instead of once? Does it help the edge to look better?

No, cut it in once does look like the same.

It's a lot of material to remove, cutting three times allows the machine to take only a small amount of material so it doesn't get overloaded. Multiple passes is always easier and easier on the machine

@@topsaw I have the same Festool saw for years and i cut thicker wood as yours at once, its no Problem, cuts it like butter...
