- Saturday was Media Day at The Championships, which meant that Catherine, David and Matt were speaking to the top players in press conferences. On the show, there's discussion of Aryna Sabalenka revealing that she's not 100% fit because of her shoulder injury, Novak Djokovic's remarkable recovery from knee surgery as he eyes up an 8th title, the confidence radiating from Carlos Alcaraz, Coco Gauff and Jannik Sinner, the way Iga Swiatek is going to try to adapt her game to grass, and how British hopes Jack Draper and Emma Raducanu are approaching Wimbledon. Elsewhere, there's reaction to Andy Murray's practice session as he attempts to play singles on Tuesday, and today's title winners are covered.
The Tennis Podcast will be live, every night, throughout Wimbledon, with the podcast available afterwards.

Catching this on waking to a disgustingly cold & rainy morning in Melbourne!
Swiatek is not even playing warmups when her game is least suited to grass. I think that indicates her focus is more on the Olympics.
Why aren’t you guys on main TV?
1. I am genuinely sad for Iga. Her draw is really terrible. Why won't she be playing qualifiers or Lucky Losers like Coco in the first few rounds?
2. If Iga progresses forward into the draw, it looks like her opponents will most probably be either Wimbledom Champions or Grand Slam Champions -- starting from Round 1. This just looks so bad -- No 1 is playing against Grand Slam Champions and No 2 Qualifiers and Lucky Losers?
3. Please explain how this draw is being put together for players.
Thank you - I enjoy your podcast very much.
I hope Iga stays strong! What a tennis talent she is, and it's a true joy to watch her matches.
Beyond a few things like the placement of seeds, draws are random.
The seeds with fixed positions are inserted where required, then the other seeds are randomly drawn into their positions.
Then the rest of the unseeded players are randomly drawn line by line.
Sometimes players get bad draws. Sometimes players will draw the same opponent in consecutive events. But it's all randomised.
The unseeded players are completely random. Kenin is barely in the top 50, Kerber is returning from a pregnancy hiatus from over a year ago and needed a WC to enter, and Ostapenko is in the 13-16 range (which are randomly drawn to each of the top 4 seeds). It's equally likely for all those players to be drawn to Coco as they are to Iga. There's no real advantage draw-wise to being no. 1 vs no. 2
The british dream is beyond control.the likes of Tim Hemman dreaming Emma Radunaku to win the title.😃😃😃😃
@@lelet00738 Didn't Henman say that Boulter would go further? 😭 Maybe I misunderstood
@@user-wu1uk8ce9k kenin, martic, kerber, ostapenko... that is not a bad draw.
Love the top Catherine I am ordering one !!
What an absolutely delightful show!
Why is everyone ignoring that Diane Schneider just won a WTA 500 ?
She’s still not a big name + Bad Homburg kinda still feels like WTA250 despite having been upgraded to a WTA500 tier tournament this year.
@@ism7588 It’s a WTA 500 and had many great players.
Who the hell is Hannah? I've heard them talk about her several times but never have I heard a detailed explanation of who she is and what she does
Hannah Wilks is their social media person - she's moderating the live chat that's going on at the same time as this broadcast. She's awesome.
@@MrButtercup5309 thank you for the answer :)
Sounds like somone needs to steal Andy's rackets! He could potentially recover more sensibly, then come back next year for a last go/farewell. Even if he has not played for 11/12 mths Wimbledon would likely give him a wild card. Lots of players don't play for a year or so then practice for a few weeks and play a tournament!
I don't get why Coco Gauff seems to be your favorite to win the title while her best result on Wimbledon grass is only 4th round achieved 3 years ago, and on the other hand Swiatek is not considered the favorite, because her best result is just QF that happened last year 🙂 OK, Gauff may have easier path to the final, especially after Sabalenka has withdrawn, but Gauff hasn't had a great year so far (won just 1 WTA 250 title), and basing your predictions just on Gauff's optimism and a good attitude during the press conference doesn't seem to be credible.
I’m picking Emma Navarro.
The Bucket hat rules, and there is no age limit to that timeless chapeau!
Catherine if Carlos said what his opponent did 34:49 on Instagram you would be clutching your pearls and calling Carlos unsportsmanlike, instead you like it. Interesting.
Carlos said bye bye to Lajal.
I'm going to Wimbledon on Tuesday and I don't want to see Andy Murray play....waste of money
Good plan. Skip Radacanu and Watson too. Enjoy.
Catherine looks hot. 🥵
