I always felt X3 sounded like it would be more at home on an arcade system, Genesis, or any FM based sound chip, music wise. This is amazing, and I'd love to see you do the entire soundtrack CPS1 style if you wanted to.
It would be perfect in the style of the Era of the hardware. Nothing overdone, pushing what was capable at the time. Just basic patches and some modulation and shit

Only the drums are samples. The rest comes from VOPM, a VST that emulates the Yamaha YM2151 sound chip. I personally ripped the drums and the VOPM patches from various games.

I ripped them off the roms using a plugin for Hoot Player. I released a big .opm pack which includes CPS1 games, you should find it in the related videos on the right.
