You're definitely going to need help managing this with your size of org. I personally like logistics. However, that's not where the problem is... You actually don't want to go too small. The problem is if an org is too small. What if the max is 1000 players on the server and a single org has 600 players (more than half of the shard is taken already). Then it means other orgs would only be 400 max (200 less than the biggest one) and that's only if it's two orgs in the same system. Meaning that big orgs will win by the numbers and the norm will become to have as many people as possible to limit other org's player count. CIG would have to put the biggest orgs in the same system for things to be fair, but then you'll always see the same enemies in PvP. So trust me... Going big is not the issue, the tech is the issue. You are PvP king at the moment, you own THE system... Who cares how you're going to have to manage it at that point, it's irrelevant (it will manage itself)
I’m in the mind that the next natural progression of development past dynamic server meshing, will be shard meshing.
@@jbirdmax Correct. They will mesh shards at that point. But I'm also inferring that test squadron is 23065 members. So, let's be generous... Let's say only 10% are online. That's 3000 to manage concurrently and even if shard meshing is there, what happens when everyone is online at the same time and there isn't enough room. Montaya has already broken the game and achieved what I'd like to call "numbers projection"
@@AlexisK oh yeah we could easily destroy just about whatever the tech wizards at CIG can come up with.
A large org would essentially have control of the shard, able to take control system by system, mostly uncontested, as they've capped out the local population. Surely CIG have been thinking about this scenario too.
It is the year 2966. Emperor Montoya is sitting on his Pico Throne, willing a new fleet of Bengal Carriers into existence. Stanton has long been renamed to Test System. Below him Test Planet III, built upon the ruins of Arc Corp, shines bright and yellow. He turns to Mike Saltwalker. “Old fool, only now, at the endgame, do you understand“, and hurls a Colossus bomb at him.
You are now head of propaganda for TEST.
@@MontoyaTEST 😂😂😂🎉🎉
Congrats on your new position!
Good God. This is going to be a 24/7 job to maintain.
Thankfully it's never playable, so not a problem...
Crafting was a surprise.
Player owned and operated marketplace kiosks?
Exactly what the BMM needs for its implementation.
Getting to building a Bengal carrier will require so much blueprint development and resources that it will likely take 5 years to get even start building one.
Hopefully, I really don't want to see it in the first couple of months or year. This should be a massive, huge achievement.
I'll probably be dead before anyone is able to craft the first Bengal.
Probably more like a month 😄, orgs are massive don't under estimate them
Cannot wait till people start filling them with fury's
I'm predicting a Bengal has a 2-3 month build time. Small fighters = 1 to 2 days, A week for Connies and other similar-sized ships, 900i's, A2's, etc. = 2 weeks. Idris, Javelin, etc. = 1 month, Bengal = 2-3 months
I am willing to bet, 4 to 6 months.
There was a "Step Brothers" and a "Dumb & Dumber" reference during the station fly -through and the ending!
There was?!?
We will make Test the greatest Org, and I can't wait for Org mechanics so I can contribute properly.
I heard a few streamers mention how Test Squadron was going to take over the verse due to them being the largest Org in SC. Definitely the size of the Org will matter when trying to build and efficiently run one of these player owned space stations. I just wonder how quickly these stations are going to pop up and how this will forever change the economy of the game. We already know it will be a race for Orgs to be the first in SC history to build the first player space station.
The fact that they can be destroyed evens the playing field. Suppose the biggest org starts influencing too much in a system, be it restricting travel or outright hostility to smaller groups and solo players. In that case, it's not unheard of for the players in that system to band together to take down the org and blow up their station. Losing their station would be such a financial hit that they won't be a problem again for quite some time. In the meantime, another organization will pop up and construct its station. Wash, rinse, repeat. And that's not even including system security that may end up pitted against that org due to the mounting crime stats an org might receive
My question is, how many stations will be allowed in one system? If 5 were the cap for each of the 5 systems, that would mean 25 stations in the game. Do the other orgs wait? Or do they band together to knock a few out to make room for their stations?
@@fwdcnorac8574 Well yeah it will definitely be interesting to see the ebbs and flows of the changing verse when rare resources are involved. I have a feeling most large orgs will want to build in lawless space where crime stats won't be an issue., where all the hard to get resources will be found. Can you imagine an Org attacking one of these player stations in low sec space which is hard enough only to have local security show up.
@@fwdcnorac8574 I hope CIG does a Q & A on this so many questions to answer. very exciting regardless.
The bigger thing is the planetary shield bid 'competition' is weekly.....We all know the 'winning' org is going to be heading straight for the nearest orgs station. Which means constant 24/7 patrols and sizeable fleet stationed aboard and around the station to protect it. Then each and every Bengal is going to need a fleet and you can bet the orgs with the cruiser/battleship and escort carrier blueprints will be turning up those in tow also. The complexity of not just the logistics but organisation required is gargantuan.
Here's what I think they should do with Bengal carriers:
In order to craft a ship you need the blueprint, right? So with Bengals, the blueprint will be consumed once fully crafted. The blueprints will be super rare and usually heavily guarded. There will only be so many in the universe at a time and when one is destroyed there's a cooldown before another blueprint will spawn.
When I saw the linked space stations all I could think was, great some org is going to try and cover a moon with space stations to deny all access to that moon.
Moons are still too big for that. If the top 5 orgs worked together to do that, maybe after a long while lol
@@mr702s True...but I never underestimate the willingness of players to push the limits of what is posible. I remember when No Man's Sky claimed it would take damn near forever to get to the center of the galaxy.
We could built a Dysson Sphere with those space stations, couldn't we? ^^
You'd need a fuck ton but technically yaeh
Test should speed run building a station, note the time it takes and then brag about holding the record for probably months or years as you guys are just flat out the biggest org
Yep, had a very similar reaction and I'm a solo player by nature! Those 6 linked stations (or more)? I was thinking that renting them out to smaller, allied Orgs to run in trade alliances and mutual defense pacts, so why stop with 6?!
I will say that I see the 'Large Org End-Game' nature of these stations as a personal challenge, being a solo! lol
Thanks Montoya
This Base building presentation had me screaming to stop so I can smoke a cig and calm down and they were like "but wait there's more" over and over again.
TEST Squadron BEST Squadron!!!!
As long as Orgs are isolated to lawless systems for their PVP Wars and shenanigans than have at it. Let people who have busy lives live in peace in the UEE controlled systems. :)
I was waiting for a Montoya video, as soon as I seen we could build space stations I said, yep, Test will probably be the first to build one. SC has a lot of similarities to EVE now, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, it does add a lot of depth.
Not as unforgiving as Eve though, more casual friendly.
@@MontoyaTEST Definitely, that's why I stopped playing EVE long ago. It became too difficult to dedicate time to EVE, and not just time but time where you couldn't be bothered.
@@ghenghisprawn6034 you aren't the only one, I miss my capital fleet, but I am winning Eve, and there ain't no going back.
This is all great as long as large orgs aren't allowed to lock other players out of content like they can and do in EVE.
Star Citizen systems are not like EVE systems, where control of a system means control of resources, access to some wormholes, and the routes through the system. SC systems have unique planets, NPC factions, entire lore-based quest lines, etc.
Lawless systems are 40% of 1.0's content. It would be a disaster for the game if one group of players can control other player's access to that content.
Every MMO except for EVE classifies that behaviour as griefing, and prevents it by simply telling players they aren't allowed to do it.
If CIG can't find a mechanical solution, then they are going to need to do the same, else the game is doomed to lose most of its players. It would hold onto only a niche of players, like EVE does.
100% agree, I liked how dark sectors in warframe once were you fought for control of the zone and layed out taxes, if you were over stepping you did not keep the zone long. If they did a similar system in how the planets work could see it working albiet I could see issues too...Just hope it doesn't end up like eve.....and I hope that the game is a game and not a job in how the loops work.
"Mechanical solutions" can be overcome, if necessary !
Yesss Test Squadron Best Squadron!!!! :D :D :D 6 Bangles at a time
I just had a thought: What if they create new NPC space stations this way? It would make adding space stations to newly introduced systems a piece of cake
Pretty sure that's the plan, especially the "Innards matching the outards" part
When I saw the station, my jaw dropped, the hype is real!! :)
You created a monster. Now you have to tame it! How many members does test have again?? Welcome to your new job! lmao
We need more systems. Even if they're mostly empty. This isn't Starfield. With millions of players, each able to build from a small base to a city, up to orgs making space stations and Bengals, no system will remain empty for long.
EndGame is our game, nice!!! Factorio meets SWG meets StarCitizen, I love it
@MontoyaTEST I went into hybernation and upon waking up, I saw TEST has already 23K members ?! Dude WTH, that's crazy. Cheers on that🍺
🤷♂️
Beware of org alts, just sayin !
Large orgs will have a massive advantage in resource gathering, infrastructure and fire power.
Who else is watching Montoya play the video at 2x speed while running his video at 2x?
4x efficiency!
Look at that beautiful space station. Lets goooooo!
I'm curious if these stations will be isolated to a specific shard and how exactly they are going to manage that.
Probably magic.
@@MontoyaTEST😂
Did they mention if they are going to redo space stations we already have in Stanton to have the better layouts with internal roads for vehicles and no fake elevators?
I was going to rewatch and take notes, as I don't remember the details.
I don't know how much I'd engage with this stuff being a solo kind of person, but I'm really looking forward to it anyway. Star Citizen has needed stuff to work towards for years, especially for the orgs. I hope they also put in a track for building a fancy homestead or something for solo players to work towards though.
And in other news, all Million Mile High club owners get a free space station with Crows nest :)
I wish and I hope!!
Keep in mind the tier and quality system the showed for crafting as well. You should then be able to research/craft a perfect quality tier 5 bengal and tier 3 station.
Has CIG explained any mechanisms for handling an org the size of TEST? Perhaps the concept of divisions within an organisation?
no
Did you see how massive the org charts were for the AI orgs ?
Test is pidly compared to the amount of AI planned for this game. The UEE will be massive compared to Test or Goons.
"For each player, there will be atleast 3 or more AI characters." - Chris Roberts 2012.
That's a quote from my memory, though it seems these days its mostly in the shitter.
Calling it hear and now. Test will make a grid of space stations surround a planet.
Really hope we get defensive wings for space stations. Something with an insane amount of turrets and missile pods. Also, hope we get more "special modules" instead of a crow nest up top, something useful hopefully lol.
Glory to TEST!
If only you were the member or leader of some gigantic org that could pull something like this off, Montoya. It's fine, my ginormous 13 person org will be happy to help
Shush, The Mittani might hear you ! The bees are sleeping in their gigantic Eve Swarm, we mustn't kick over that nest and arouse the Mittens.
Why build 1 Bengal Carrier when you can build 6!
Or 12!
I’m wondering if a lawful org station could ally with a syndicate/pirate org and offer them refuge in their station, in return for doing the “dirty work” for the lawful org.
I knew he was going to talk about this as soon as I saw the base
This looks pretty cool - i wonder if we can get enough people on we can crash the server. Can definitely see needing separate comm channels for loading operation, security, ATC, etc. And if the Universe is persistent....can see lots of raiders licking their lips.
You are awesome Montoya! Love your content and reactions!
Don't forget that there should be a 10/90 percentage of human/NPC population. The resource gathering and trading might not be as demanding on human manpower.
Still, i would be mining, refining and hauling shit with my Arrastra and Ironclad. 07
I am quite sad that they have not mentioned many ships that got into concept ages ago yet their 12 month road map already has ships that were introduces like just months before this.
My body is ready.
My body was ready in 2012 but I'm an old man now !
Regarding your question at 8:50... I would never imagined that Operation Pitchfork would be possible.
It was just an idea that sounded fun, but I guess they re-branded?
Wait, it's all TEST?
Always has been 🔫
What prevents an organisation from locality domination?
Can the stations be linked so that they encompass a planet or moon completely, or do they only align flat?
I wonder if allied orgs or affiliated orgs can link stations together granting partial access to supply elevator, with one org concentrate on say fps gear and another manufacturing ships
Do you remember the ELO band.
It looks like the space station from the cover album Out of the Blue from the ELO band.
Electric light orchestra. I remember.
The Grind is strong in this one...
Winner builds a whole Dyson sphere of stations around a planet
Test will be The First Station...you know we will
Screw that. I'ma just try to make a station solo lol.
@@5000562 for real
I have a small org. Maybe you can just let us have a wing of one of your large stations so we can have some protection (and offer some of our own or resources)
So Montoya we're calling TEST's first space station or mega base "Montoya's Rest" right?
Day one of 1.0 I will be collecting and storing minerals, RMC, and what ever else that will be needed to get this of the ground as fast as possible. I already have the ships to do the work. think this could be done relatively quickly. Logistics will be a nightmare.
i've known for a while that me and my group could easily crew multiple large ships but these mining towns then space stations, i just joked in my head when i saw that CIG be like: "i hope you have a whole city worth of friends" lmao
Thats the whole point of AI my friend.
The Vanduul and UEE fleets will blot out the sun of many systems mate.
Once this is all in game, you will need commanders leading divisions of your members in charge of making a station, etc. You won't be capable of handling everything on your own. Get used to delegating tasks.
Montoya... why have your ten hour meeting in discord when you can have it in your organizations crows nest...
I like the way you think!
Makes it seem like high quality resources are going to get sucked up fast by big orgs. and low quality resources will be trash to most.
1:52 Too much brain, not enough room for hair.
As awesome as this is, I really hope we have XS, S, M, L + versions for smaller groups or solo players, just like player bases. Imagine having a tiny space hab sitting in the back of an asteroid somewhere, just big enough for some supplies, could be great for pirates too because it'd be like a little loot stash.
In which system will Test be building their Dyson Sphere?
I hope they put in Org size limits and alliance member limits to prevent zerg unbalance
They could have done that years ago, but for some reason it seems to be uncapped to this day.
Test 1, Test 2, Test 3, Test 4, Test 5, Test 6, Test 7, Test 8, Test9, Test 10. On and on and on and on
@@MontoyaTEST Soon TM
@@dude3278exactly! If they put a limit then this is what would happen. Makes no sense IMO
@@MontoyaTEST Goonswarm, PL and their Hoardlings, EveTest, the numbers game is relatively easy to overcome, should it be necessarily capped. The Mittani has likely gotten several org alts for this specific reason.
That feeling at the back of your throat is hopium poisoning Montoya. DT's come next
CIG no longer want you to PLAY Star Citizen, they want you to LIVE Star Citizen!! And DEFEND that life IN Star Citizen, and all 24/7, 31/12 and 365/infinity.
10 years away at the least.
EEstate parcels are 8km by 8km ..... 64 km2 there are a lot smaller CITYS irl
This was literally designed with TEST in mind lmao
I was wondering if the game could cater to large groups. Made no sense that you could make a massive org if there was no way to play together.
How do we plan to protect our stations? I do want to build one im thinking of unmelting my pioneer just for this.
I have to wonder how long it will take, from release for the inter-org cold war to turn hot.
So EVE but in person and without all the abstractions
tempted to melt my 890 for a pioneer. I hope they balance it as a game and make sure it isn't a job
This is really amazing, i am looking forward to 2045
2 name options: Montoya Den or Test Den.
My pioneers will be useful 💪🏽
First you need to gather a competent group of managers and handle the little things that don't need your stern hand.
Its cool for test squadron but what about my small org having 20 people in it?
We have alliance but still this seems like something I will never have. So why would I be excited about it?
CIG needs to figure out a way for this to be end goal for everyone not just biggest orgs.
As long as station in safe system can pay taxes on its own with resources its getting. I am fine with it if planetary shield is working on it and I can slowly safely progress building my base it will be fine.
I am worrying about balance but that's problem CIG can solve.
I'm curious about 1.0. Do you think the intent is to have that out by SQ42? Cause this is a lot if so... Also unsure how space stations will work with shards, but I guess we have years to figure that out.
Shards, as currently described, will be physically independent, a structure built on one shard will not appear in any other shard, so someone else could have a building in the same spot in a different shard.
As for 1.0 releasing around the same time as SQ42, it's possible. Their tech has apparently matured and is ready for developers to make use of at full scale, and with the majority of developers coming off SQ42 that is a LOT of manpower to put towards content creation.
@@Synthmilk appreciate the input!
Montoya, you're such a cool guy! Love your videos
Montoya I'm not a full member, but I'll take the Crows Nest thanks. 😅
cant wait
Can we just get a base game to release. Stop the scope creeping, add more once its released
So Which org will build New Jetta
Space stations will be great for pvp.
You just want to have the observation deck! 🙂
Just kidding, hope you get it though.
Everything Eve online had the potential of being. This game will rip away players from other space games easy.
Eve is dead, relatively speaking !
Nope! For me there is no end play. I will do passenger missions in an E-1, Phoenix, Starliner, and 890j and when I need a break from that I will do a little hauling (Very little) or a little mining, or take a vacation in the Phoenix or 890j and goi on a tour and land and enjoy jumping bikes on the dunes and rocks, and fishing if it makes it in. Then I'll continue with more passenger content. I will do this for years 8ntil I am bored or dead, or eating my mush at the old veterans home and cannot have a gaming computer. I don't need leaders trying to give me orders or tell me how to spend my time in game. I will be in a small org and do some org things but mainly do my own things. I'll live in the cities as much as I can, no need for an outpost or station of my own to haul passengers. Not everyone is into the Fartnite aspect of SC, even if that seems to be the focal point.
How do the rest of us stop Test from Zerging the shard with your huge membership :)
...is 6 the limit though? I don't think so... imagine doing them in zig-zag... it can be a lot more...
Unless they put an artificial limit on them, then no. You need 6 to make a ring, but even in that configuration each station has 2 more outward facing major hardpoints.
Dyson Sphere 😁
No more private life ;-)
Hey Montoya, are we taking over Pyro LOL? (Ozz)
Is this the TAPI Test Squadron from Eve?
No, different groups
@@mr702s Shame, thanks for the feedback.
1 station a year🤣
I am not sure i like the idea of building/crafting full spaceships tbh
Why not?
ya it brought back eve no life fealings.
Fml. The battles... extreme.
yeah this game is never going to release is it. more feature creep. endless oceans.
For the life of me i cant join the org discord, anyway cool vid montoya👍
lol , great retort on the video ....... were you able to log into SC and play this week ? the entire week ? if you were able to leave the bed , were you able to leave the hab ? funny cause there are tons of servers that couldn't . so ya be very excited they're somehow gonna add in massive multiplayer experiences when they can't even stabilize a server , I think if CIG stopped listening to EVE players that might have a game , Mr. Test there will not be another EVE online - Ever it was a one off , we do have a multitude of games like eve that have failed only months after launch though - a lot of them . CIG were banning new people in the youtube stream for just asking why they weren't able to play the game after purchasing ship packs BANNING new players , they didn't know if it was their system or the server , that's what we are working with Mr . TEST lol . they just keep nerfing stuff forcing you to buy the new stuff , nerf the corsair to promote the next star what ever it is , they will nerf the javelin when they release the new updated javelin , and it wasnt a bengal carrier your org was gonna find wrecked and rebuild it was a javelin
