    I can't understand how it makes any sense to make two different headlights and tail lights for the same vehicle. I know it is supposed to differentiate between the cheap and expensive model but it costs more money to manufacture two different styles of lights. Better to make the inside of the car even better with the money saved

    They did a great job w/ the base lights as they don't look base. The new signature is a bit reminiscent of the Jaguar's J-blade. The same can't be said for the Mazda3 and Mazda6.

  • @sgrant9814
    @sgrant9814 2 года назад +9

    Nice vid...but as most vehicles establish their oncoming signature look in daytime, when lights are off, it would be nice to see what the headlights/drls look like in daytime.

    Mazda did a great job with the lights. They made the base model lights look premium and added to the upper trims just enough to make the person spending more money feel a bit special.

    • @alb0zfinest
      @alb0zfinest Год назад

      What? In what world does that standard light look premium lmao? If anything it looks the complete opposite. The 2020 signature taillights looked premium, these both the base and signature of 2022 don’t really look good. The 2022 base is completely abysmal you get so little tail light it’s actually dangerous

  • @thetechlibrarian

    The incandescent interior lights are really nice actually, I thought maybe they where just really warm leds at first. After having led interior lights in my last car and always thinking I needed to have them , there is something about the light pattern and softness that is still nice with the incandescent lights I’m not even sure I would switch them

    • @aclau7
      @aclau7 Год назад

      After a few minutes when the incandescent light is ON, it is so hot automatically turns OFF. Thereby I’m replacing mine with led.

  • @tommydavis102
    @tommydavis102 2 года назад +5

    It doesn't matter too much to me about the differences in the LED lighting between the two models. I think they both will do a great job of lighting up the road ahead. I do like the Premium model more, but the standard alloy wheels on the 2.5s are a nice change compared to the design used previously on the base trim however.

    • @alb0zfinest
      @alb0zfinest Год назад +2

      Actually no lol. I have a 2020 mazda cx5, and the taillight lighting is definitely not great. The standard that comes equipped is low and in a small area. Worse than basically all it’s competition. If you don’t get signature lighting you’re basically fucked, especially if you’re driving in rural areas (because the front isn’t too great either).

    Thanks for taking time to present on these often overlooked details. If you could hit the side of a building (you did that on another video) and hold for a minute to see the cutoff, it would be great, plus maybe a drive. As an older driver who lives where we get plenty of rain, kicked up road spray, and fog in the winters, I'm disappointed that there are no fog lights, and not even an option to add them as a dealer installed accessory. Honda did this with the new gen CRV as well, and I just don't get it. These are supposed to be all-weather capable. Plus, our population as a whole is aging, and to be real, night vision gets worse with age. Every feature on the cars that helps with that is a plus. I test drove the '24 Signature and loved it, but the lack of fog lights is chasing me down the boring Subaru rabbit hole. (They have adaptive headlights and fog lights, but certainly not the "zoom zoom of a CX-5. ) Have not found anything on the aftermarket.Perhaps something could be fitted into the black "hole" area on the lower part of the front fascia, but not great width.

      I just left this comment above! I have a Mazda 2018 CX-5 and the styling of the LED lights is so much classier - it's a ring light and LED strips on the front and taillights and it makes the car look luxurious. The last gen to have this styling was the 2021 CX-5s, I think. After that, it's been these ugly rounded-square lights that I see on the road. It looks needlessly edgy and try-hard, blech. Kinda disappointed that Mazda went in that direction. Also, the chrome-rim on the grill is much thicker now and another eyesore.

    Why did they decide to not light up the inner tail light on the base. It actually makes it look as if the tail lights do not work. That could get you pulled over. Seems like simple wiring that really should nit increase the production cost. Can you have the light added after Market, and if so what is the cost? I have the 2023 Carbon. I have a 2018 CX-5 GT where Mazda used the LED strips along with nice ring lights on the head and taillights. I think that styling (which stopped at 2021 models) was so much more simple and classy compared to these 2022 and onward CX-5s. The styling on these new ones look a bit weird and unnecessarily sporty, kinda has the same energy as the Hyundai Veloster and Toyota CH-R. I feel more possessive of my car now, cause these new ones look a bit uglier compared to the older ones Mazda made.

I had my 2017 for five years until it was totaled a few weeks ago, and I had the only CX-5 that I ever saw in the last five years that only had the thin LEDs on sometimes without the headlights, because I’d performed the trick on it to get that look.

That’s how I thought to look into that situation on my 2017, because I saw some ads with only the thin lights on and the headlights off while the car was driving.
