I've got this problem after a couple of months (old PS4 but it lasted this long). Finally able to sleep without PS4 waking me up in the middle of the night!
This problem was driving me crazy, I’d literally tried every tip/fix that I’d read online and none of them worked. Until I followed your advice. I can’t tell you how relieved I am that my PS4 doesn’t spit discs out mid game anymore. Thank you so much for your advice! You sir are a hero 🙌🏻
This video saved me from breaking my PS4 to buy a new one, that is great appreciated. For anyone like me who is not usually a person who fixes thing the Torx is a “electrical” size T8 make sure it has the small hole in the middle. Hope this helps anyone!
Been an hour since I applied tape. So far it works! Update: One month later and it still works 1yr? Update: Still works lol 2yr Update: Still works. No random disc ejections. Also recently bought a ps5 finally
Had the same issue a few years ago, tried a lot of different things, then found this video, put some scotch tape over the sensor, and it never ejected any discs or beeped annoyingly ever again. I solved the issue over a year ago, but I came over here to say thanks! You saved me a lot of frustration, seeing as how I use my PS4 every single day for professional means. :)
4 years looking for a solid solution and I have finally stumbled on your video. I do not know how the RUclips algorithm didn’t pick it up earlier! Thanks for this!
Did this yesterday after almost throwing my ps4 out of the window. Good thing I didn't, I thought to myself "maybe there is a way to disable the function", but I never thought It would have to be through hardware. So I came across this video, and a problem arose, in which I didn`t have the appropriate tool for the screws, but I was so pissed at the moment I was willing to break them. But a pointy knife was the solution for the screws, a lot of pressure and the screws went away with just a little trouble. So far the PS4 is working great, no more ejecting. Thanks dude, you deserve a medal.
+Fernando Cardoso Silveira Glad it worked for you! Yeah, luckily those security screws are short, so they're not too hard to get out. Thanks for leaving a comment!
+Fernando Cardoso Silveira Glad it worked for you! Yeah, luckily those security screws are short, so they're not too hard to get out. Thanks for leaving a comment!
Had a RUclips account for many years and never feel compelled to comment on anything but this is ridiculous. Nearly 3 years my Playstation has done this. I’d fallen for the Playstation official method of messing with the rotating screw (despite having googled how it was put together to see what the screw done so knowing full well it was achieving nothing) which SEEMED to work. You are a life-saver and this is easily the most accessible and well presented tutorial videos I’ve ever seen. Genuinely thank you.
Holy crap. After over a year of dealing with this problem off and on it started beeping and ejecting literally nonstop for the last few weeks. I had tried all of the suggested fixes (aside from the scratch thing) and was seconds away from throwing my PS4 through my TV after it ejected Dark Souls 3 just when I was finally about to finish off a boss that I was attempting for what felt like the 10th time. Fortunately I was able to chill out, find your video among a lot of other useless/sketchy solutions, and perform the operation. I just did it a few hours ago, but the fact that it has gone even this long without tormenting me is a miracle. I also like the fact that it can easily be undone if necessary. I never comment on anything but had to in this case because this video saved me some serious frustration and possibly a good bit of money too - thank you for your service sir.
+Alexander Lukens Man, thanks for commenting! I totally felt the same way, so when I figured this fix out I made this video hoping others in that situation would find it. :) You're very welcome. Glad I could help!
In oct 2024 I still play with my day 1 PS4, it just suddenly started having this problem but with your video I quickly solved it. Now I can delay buying a PS5 for another year or two 🤣 thank you so much
You are a God. I've been having this problem for 8 months now. I thought about this and started searching for videos of people that tried it. Your video is the first I saw. Thank you soon much
first of all, thank you so much because this actually works! it's been weeks and my ps4 hasn't ejected the disc at all so I can confidently claim that it'll never happen again. second of all, this actually made me walk into a home depot and purchase a tool to fix the damn thing myself which in and of itself is pretty incredible so thank you for that
Awww man, I've tried so many of those "solutions" that you've talked about in the video and neither of them worked until' I did this one. I know it works because when I press the eject button manually, it doesn't eject the disc, but that's ok because I can eject through the application. I've been trying to fix this problem for like the pass 2 months & you my friend are the truth. Thanks a million.
+I jeddel99 I Does it have a button you have to press to eject, or do you only have to touch it? This fix should work as long as you have touch sensitive buttons.
Just dropping in to give you ALL the kudos man, I have a launch PS4 still and it started doing this recently. It literally woke me up in the middle of the night last night after I completely turned it off, it was just beeping constantly trying to eject a disc that wasn’t even in there anymore. Woke up this morning, popped some electric tape over that sensor and I’m all good again! You’re the best!
Just got my torx screws in the mail today bought electrical tape and done the deed bro.... IT FREAKING WORKED!!!! havnt had a auto eject problem all day sure its only been a day but do you realize that 22$ just saved me 2 or 3 hundred 1000 thumbs up
You've just saved my life with this. I got RDR2 and in the last few days I couldn't even play 10 minutes without the console ejecting the disc. It's happened a few times here and there through the years (first day purchase), but nothing like has happened lately. I tried every "tip" (remove rubber band, switch off and on, etc) but your method seem to be definitive, used a flat screwdriver and it worked just fine. Thank you so much, I just gave a BIG like and subscribed, it's the least I can do. :D
I can not thank you enough, I have tried this method and my PlayStation has not auto ejected in 3 days which is a record. You have earned a subscriber!!
With the new consoles releasing this year, we felt trapped into waiting for the launch and just living a mundane life without DOA Xtreme 3 Scarlet. But this fixed it! Thank you!
Love you! Been suffering with this for months, I was too scared to open up my PS4 and tried every other method to no success. Only one that works! 10/10!
I just did this fix today and will be commenting back with an update after a few months or so. Thanks for taking your time and uploading this fix 🙏🏼 I hated hearing the disk drive go off while sleeping.
Thank you so much for this! Two years of discs ejecting mid-game and incessant beeping has been resolved! I tweaked your fix a little. Instead of covering the sensor, I taped down the metal arm.
Dude, thanks so much for the opening trick. I flipped it upside down, ripped that little rubber piece out from underneath my eject button, and now I can finally play discs and sleep in peace. You are a real one.
Hey man, just wanted to show my appreciation after the fix. Mine has been doing it for ~2 years and the belt drive is extremely worn and it was actually struggling to pull the disc back in so I knew I needed to finally fix the console. So yeah this is a permanent fix and so simple I'm actually baffled as to why won't didn't do a recall.
It has been 24 hours since I implemented the fix and this IS the solution to the diisc ejection and beeping problem. I covered up the sensor with tape and the problem is GONE! Saved me a huge unnecessary repair bill so thank you, SuperPope. The Torx screws were a pain to put back so I left them off.
Pablo Escalante strip it down and apply new thermal paste and clean the fans while your at it. I had to do it for ghost of tsushima, it sounded like a jet engine
Awesome video. Been looking for a solution for months and this is the only thing that worked! Thank you so much for posting this. Pro tip: The screws require a T9 SECURITY torx bit. Make sure it's the correct size and that it's security (i.e. that it has the hole in the center of the bit).
Thanks for the tip! Opened it up and instead of covering the contact point, I cleaned the dust out from the area behind the eject button. Been a full day without the dreaded beeping so far. Will definitely cover it if it starts up again.
Yo I wanna thank you so much for putting this video out! My ps4 would eject disc randomly and even just beep over and over again when it was off. I taped that stupid little piece off and all my problems are gone! Thought my laser went bad again or something (changed my self) thanks man, you saved me from throwing my ps4 against the wall lol
You sir are the absolute best. I tried every single method on the internet. Even brought it in for repair and they told me my ps4 is “unfixable”. Tried this method and all my woes are gone. Now I don’t have to purchase a new one.
Saw this video a while back, was putting it off until recently when I got fed up with the constant ejecting on my 4 year old machine. Actually a pretty easy and reliable fix, all you need is a torx head or flat head of the right size and some scotch tape and it's as easy as that. Thanks for the tip 👍
Truly the only guaranteed, permanent fix for this issue. Have had to do this to 2 of my PS4's, just waiting for the third to need it too. Come on Sony, you can do better.
You figured it out good job I kept hoping through a software update they would give the option to deactivate the eject button and like you stated eject with the remove disc software option instead
I had to come back here 2 weeks later after trying this procedure to fix the ejecting disc issue on my ps4 whenever playing disc games. All I have to say is that you’re a genius. Thank you so much for presenting this way to cure that issue for good!! I tried other suggestions from another video and none of them did a damn thing, but i was recommended your video and My ps4 has had no issue at all with ejecting discs again. More people need to see this video for issues like that. God bless!!
Fixed my problem, thanks alot, mine just start having this problem, I got a day one console, this is the only problem I've ever had with my ps4. Again thanks for the video.
Walter White same here with my day one console. just started happening to me yesterday and I was wondering why cause I had no disc in and I hardly use discs lately. But the PS4 has been pretty reliable all this time I must say. Good to know it's a relatively easy fix and I haven't completely lost the disc drive
I KNEW IT, first there was a problem with their wireless controllers because there was no real wire, now theres a problem with their eject button causing discs to eject out all on their own because there is no real button. Maby Sony and PS need to go back to the days when they used REAL wire and REAL buttons that worked forever without a headache ever.
Haha RUclips recommended this to me again, after having already watched this years before :D Didn't remember if I left a comment then, but thank you for making this help video!
I've had this problem for 2-3 years now. Every time I would search how to fix it, I would only get the reddit thread to lift up the PS4. Thank you bud! I knew there had to be a way to disable the button. I just didn't know how complicated it would be.
I just did this!! I've had enough!!! I'll leave this in my favs and come back later to comment the results! Thank you very much! Update: it's been almost a couple of weeks. I finished God Of War without any ejection! Thank you for this video, really! Greetings from Colombia!
RuthlessTyrant its not a faulty product, its just the normal issues with capacitive buttons. Mine was being triggered by dust inside the system in that spot where it connects to the board.
Thanks for posting this video, it works. I went through and gave a like on all your videos to hopefully help out your channel. As someone who puts effort into your videos, you should have a lot more views! It's a shame that RUclips doesn't do a better job of promoting them. But maybe that will change in the future. Thanks again!
First time commenting on a RUclips video. I bought a secondhand PS4 for cheap because the owner said it won’t stop ejecting discs. I was able to fix the problem in less than 10mins. Thank you bro! 👏🏻
I got 10 minutes into RDR2 and the disk ejected, forcing me to start again. Taking the rubber foot off worked temporarily last year, but I think is time for me to use a real fix.
@@nivaneh1010 it's the only solution that works, you can also do the same thing for the power button if it keeps turning off on it's own like mine, both my buttons are taped and my ps4 has been working perfect for years.
@@lyhthegreat I'm not going to tape mine I'm just gonna bend back the metal thing that keeps touching the sensor. I want to be able to use the eject button and additionally, if I ever want to sell it then I want it in peak condition.
@@nivaneh1010 you can remove the tape and it would be back to the way it was originally..imo taping the chip is the least harmful way to fix this issue.
You just saved me. Had tried every other fix and none of them were working. Was thinking about just buying a new one. I and my wallet thank you. LIFESAVER!!!
I can't believe this video has been on RUclips for YEARS..and I've been searching for a permanent fix for YEARS.. and yet somehow I JUST NOW FOUND YOUR VID. Well sir, if I could find you.. I would kiss you. Shit I might even throw in a hetero-hj for good measure. Thank you so much my friend. You have no idea how much you are appreciated.
OMG FKEN GOD I LOVE YOU. I CAN FINALLY FUCKEN PLAY GAMES WITHOUT WANTING TO PUNCH A MIDGET. I BEEN LOOKING FOR SO LONG FOR A SOLUTION TO THIS ISSUE. I CAN FUCKEN KISS YOU.
I just now started experiencing this issue with my PlayStation. I’ve had it for 5 years so my warranty was definitely expired. You saved me from buying a new one. I am forever grateful.
You sir deserves a medal, this easy to follow instructions really helped me fix the auto eject and random beeps of my PS4, now I can play with no eject issues and also I cleaned up my ps4 and now its quiet as well, killing two birds with one stone lol, thanks man
I hope Sony never puts touch buttons on their hardware again. In revisions they've always reverted to old school clicky buttons. The touch buttons are cool for the first few months at most, after that it's no different from regular buttons which are probably more reliable anyway. Gonna plan on doing this soon and will clean out the PS4 while I'm at it I guess...
Did the fix just a few minutes ago. I hate opening hardware stuff up; I'm a klutz. But this was easy enough to do. Eject button doesn't respond so something went right. The other day it randomly turned itself on though so I hope the problem doesn't happen with the power button, too. Fucking touch controls... -_-
Just popping back in to say, I followed this mans instructions 2 years ago and it’s been perfect ever since. Thank you again kind sir!
Mine has been doing it lately, I turned on it's side and it seems to help for now. This will definitely be the next step if it happens again, might go ahead and do it anyway

This is THEE definitive solution for this. Thank you for making this video. I’ve been dealing with this for YEARS.
You’re very welcome! Glad you were able to find it.
Tried this earlier today. Looks like it worked. Thank you for sharing this method. Saved me money and frustration. You have a new subscriber😄
Glad I could help! Thanks for the sub! :)
You're the best, man! Thank you for ending this nightmare. I was about to break down and buy a new console, but you saved me some serious money!
That's what I like to hear! :) Glad I could help.
Ahhhh... you hear that? That beeping...its gone. Its finally gone!
😄I know the feeling!
Now my PS4 only sounds like a Rocket taking off while playing Rocket league
I have this issue but with the power button
@@Trickstah369 I'm having the same issue these days 😓. Did you manage to fix the problem?
Pablo Escalante strip it down and apply new thermal paste and clean the fans while your at it. I had to do it for ghost of tsushima, it sounded like a jet engine
Awesome video. Been looking for a solution for months and this is the only thing that worked! Thank you so much for posting this.
Pro tip: The screws require a T9 SECURITY torx bit. Make sure it's the correct size and that it's security (i.e. that it has the hole in the center of the bit).
Yeah, sorry I failed to mention the size in the video. Glad my video helped you, though!
Just tried it, my PS4 went from popping out the disk every 10-20 minutes to actually letting me play. You're a lifesaver.
Awesome! Glad to hear it. :)
Everything that Sony tells you are all rubbish! THIS IS LEGIT, it's been 4 yrs since the last auto eject, still using my day 1 PS4 until now
Thanks for that testimony! :)
You sir are the absolute best. I tried every single method on the internet. Even brought it in for repair and they told me my ps4 is “unfixable”. Tried this method and all my woes are gone. Now I don’t have to purchase a new one.
Awesome! Glad I could help save you some cash. :)
My lounge room has entered a new era of peace and I have fallen a little bit in love with you.
😄
This comment will probably be buried but thank you so much. This fix saved my ass just as kh3 came out.
Glad to help, man! Have fun playing KH3 without the disc ejecting! :)
You're welcome! Glad to help. :)
Truly the only guaranteed, permanent fix for this issue. Have had to do this to 2 of my PS4's, just waiting for the third to need it too. Come on Sony, you can do better.
I was ready to throw my PlayStation out the window. This has been going on for years. This was great. Thank you 🙏🏼
Awesome. Glad I could help! :)
Thank you so much, finally can play and not worry about saving every 30 seconds.
Glad to help! Happy gaming! :)
God bless!!
Thanks for coming back! Glad to help. :)
good and only reliable and simple fix..
Fixed my problem, thanks alot, mine just start having this problem, I got a day one console, this is the only problem I've ever had with my ps4. Again thanks for the video.
+Walter White You're welcome! Glad to help.
I think they have learned their lesson! None of the models since then (or the PS5) have touch buttons. 😄
For years i have been dealing with this issue. Having the disk eject every time made me not want play my PS 4 anymore. Thank you David for the fix.
I felt the same way! Happy to help. :)
Bro, you are a godsend. I’ve been dealing with that everyday, and now that the problem is fixed I can enjoy it until the PS5’s launch
Awesome. You’re very welcome, man.
You’re a legend for this buddy. Big props!
Thank you! Glad I could help.
Haha RUclips recommended this to me again, after having already watched this years before :D
Didn't remember if I left a comment then, but thank you for making this help video!
Heh! Well, thanks for the comment. Glad I could help! :)
I've had this problem for 2-3 years now. Every time I would search how to fix it, I would only get the reddit thread to lift up the PS4. Thank you bud! I knew there had to be a way to disable the button. I just didn't know how complicated it would be.
You’re very welcome! Glad you found my video. :)
Thank you David. Did the trick and now I can get back to playing Spiderman.
Sweet!
I had totally the same problem.. Thank you David!
You're very welcome! 😀
You are the greatest of all time sir.
PERFECT!!! saved me a lot of money as was thinking about getting a new console. Thanks David 👍
+james herbert That's what I like to hear! Glad to help. :)
You have saved my life, and cured my depression. You deserve a medal.
Glad I could help out! :)
Just did the procedure I hope it works, fingers crossed!!
had anymore problems ?
Joey Bates still all good !!!
Hampton Crawford
Joe Lopez how do you get the disc out and in?
Blake Ward it can go in and come out you just have to hit options on the application and hit eject disc, you just can't use the sensor to eject
I just did this!!
I've had enough!!!
I'll leave this in my favs and come back later to comment the results!
Thank you very much!
Update: it's been almost a couple of weeks. I finished God Of War without any ejection!
Thank you for this video, really!
Greetings from Colombia!
Sweet. Glad to help!
Dec 2019, i have owned my Destiny edition since launch and its just developing the problem now. Many many hours put into the system.
Wow! That’s crazy it made it that long.
I'm not sure how old is this video, but i just want to thank the person who upload it... You saved my day brother :D
You’re very welcome! Glad I could help. :)
An excellent fix especially during this time when I can't leave the house and rely on this system to de-stress. Thank you for this instructional!
Glad I could help! 😊
thank you. Sony failed it's customers
and thats the reason why i aint going to purchase from them again.
every company has failed before but does that mean you'll never buy another product from anyone for your whole life?
RuthlessTyrant its not a faulty product, its just the normal issues with capacitive buttons. Mine was being triggered by dust inside the system in that spot where it connects to the board.
Still not as bad as what I went through with Microsoft and the Xbox360
RuthlessTyrant it's hardware it will die.......that's why they make newer ones
Thanks for posting this video, it works. I went through and gave a like on all your videos to hopefully help out your channel. As someone who puts effort into your videos, you should have a lot more views! It's a shame that RUclips doesn't do a better job of promoting them. But maybe that will change in the future. Thanks again!
Wow, thank you! I really appreciate that. Also, glad I could help you out! :)
First time commenting on a RUclips video. I bought a secondhand PS4 for cheap because the owner said it won’t stop ejecting discs. I was able to fix the problem in less than 10mins. Thank you bro! 👏🏻
Awesome! 😄 Glad to help!
Who's doing this in dec 2019?
Did it on new years day
Does it work because I want to do it
Did it a week ago, no problems since then.
@@mohammedabdul-halim5437 yup do it. It works used a t9 torx screw but I guess t8 should work as well
How do you get the sticker off?
Thanks i can finally go back to playing persona 5
+anomalys Nice! You're welcome. :)
Which is a ridiculously great game
I got 10 minutes into RDR2 and the disk ejected, forcing me to start again. Taking the rubber foot off worked temporarily last year, but I think is time for me to use a real fix.
Glad you found my video! Best of luck.
Very reason I'm here, I can't even play red dead 2 anymore so I'm gonna try this
@@nivaneh1010 it's the only solution that works, you can also do the same thing for the power button if it keeps turning off on it's own like mine, both my buttons are taped and my ps4 has been working perfect for years.
😁Glad to help, man! You’re very welcome.
Glad to help! Sorry the algorithm hid this from you for so long!
Thank you so much probably the best video on how to fix this problem
+Alex Thank you, sir!
OMG FKEN GOD I LOVE YOU. I CAN FINALLY FUCKEN PLAY GAMES WITHOUT WANTING TO PUNCH A MIDGET. I BEEN LOOKING FOR SO LONG FOR A SOLUTION TO THIS ISSUE. I CAN FUCKEN KISS YOU.
xMensurx punch 🤛🏽 a what?
I just now started experiencing this issue with my PlayStation. I’ve had it for 5 years so my warranty was definitely expired. You saved me from buying a new one. I am forever grateful.
Glad to help! It’s amazing it took so long for the problem to show up.
Yea this so annoying
can i still ejects discs by pressing options and pressing eject disc?
+YMtv Absolutely!
answered my question! Cheers.
+Adam Etchells No prob! Good luck.
Ironically mine has gone the other way. It won't eject games using the button on the console. Go figure.
Start doing this January 2020 before FF7 remake comes out.
Did it help?
YUMMYpotato yep! Easy to set up
Youre a smart one forreal: Ima give you a nigga pass for solving all my problems.
lmfao
Zayy Rugga Nigga Pleeeeeez, lol
Zayy Rugga can I have one too please. I'm brown but still scared to say it.
You sir deserves a medal, this easy to follow instructions really helped me fix the auto eject and random beeps of my PS4, now I can play with no eject issues and also I cleaned up my ps4 and now its quiet as well, killing two birds with one stone lol, thanks man
Awesome! Glad to hear it. You're very welcome!
I agree. They're just not worth it. It's too easy to accidentally press them anyway.
Glad it worked! I've never heard of it happening with the power button. Hopefully that was a fluke.
@@Vayshen i have both my eject and power button taped off.
On eBay you can buy the security stickers for PS4 for $1
Eddie G-rider bruh
Lol I was able to play uncharted 4 without it ejecting to!
Jessie so was i but when i pop in nfs or bf4 itll pop them right out after a while
Jessie me too cause it only took 3 days to beat
Jessie too*
