Otters are very social animals, in nature when a mother is giving birth the other otters protect her

I never knew baby otters make so much loud noises. They are adorable! Glad the runt girl made it through.
They make those noises all the time. I couldn’t stand it! Do they do that in the wild? I mean, how could they? Predators would hear.

Nothing adorable about that sound. It has a frequency that feels like damaging ears. I think these screems are unnatural. As unnatural as holding wild animals in the house. I dont think this species would have survived until these days, if they would make such wall passing sounds.

@@chre3611 almost all baby animals make a ton of noise. babies are vulnerable, that's just how it is. the animals here aren't wild animals since they were raised inside for their entire life. they wouldn't survive in the wild, it's not much different from having any other pet

Something about seeing Mari deliver brought me to tears, it's so moving to see a sweet little creature like that try her best and give birth to such beautiful children. Bless her and her babies.

I agree! Some ppl & animals aren’t very vocal & some are! But I know what it’s like to try to push a “square peg out of a small round hole” for example, & it’s no fun!!! So very thankful that the little babies & moma made it through this birthing process! Congratulations !!🥰😍♥️

I've never seen an animal (except humans) express so clearly the pain that comes with childbirth, probably because they can't do it this vocally. Horrible.

Oh, my heart💔 when watching the tiniest girl struggling. So happy to see Mari accept her back and that she was able to suckle her mama’s milk. My cat is very concerned as I am watching this, I think the otter babies’ cries must sound a little like a kitten.
Is there a way to introduce her sister in this area to help raise the pups? It seems like a alot of work for one mom🐙🙉

How wonderfully lucky are you to have such a gift. You did very well helping the small one. Please be sure they go to knowledgeable homes. I don’t know how many Asian small clawed otters there are there, so perhaps watch to prevent potential inbreeding. You did great! And so did Mari. ☺️
the labor pain squeals were a bit too painful to hear. Im glad its over and she has these 4 beautiful babies. i hope its ok with you to get her sterilized, now that she has procreated. I just could not see her in pain.

It’s not something I see in the state of California, USA! Yours are so friendly! How long have you had them? Doo you breed them to sell, to keep, to release or what? It's highly unusual for the runt of the litter to be born _first_ but I guess it happens sometimes. That little girl is, as you said, a survivor. She could have easily been rejected by Mari and died, but with help from human-mama she hung in there and built up her strength to compete with her stronger siblings. Gotta respect her will to live. Hopefully Otter Mari won't end up as much of a basket-case as Otter Towa once her pups get older. 🙂

I just saw this video... very late. Congratulations on FOUR NEW BABIES! THAT IS INCREDIBLE! Mari, what a pretty name, did a wonderful job the first few days as a mommy, as did the surrogate, human, parents! Four seems like a lot of babies for a tiny body like little Ms. Mari to have, but they all survived. YAY! She was EXHAUSTED! POOR LITTLE THING. Glad she made it through the pregnancy and birthing. I cried when she was in labor and birthing. Dear heart.

@@haiquoc2013 they usually matchmade the female otters with male otters from other places. So the father otters don't live with them. But towa's partner was with her during the birth.

I FINALLY saw what I think was A gesture from Mari that indicated she was not willing to take care of the smallest girl (precious Komari). At around the 5:20 mark when Komari, and all the newborns, were trying to nurse, Mari reached up with her hand, put it on top of Komari's head, and pushed her down towards the floor, as if to say, you're not welcome here
She then clutched the other babies even tighter to her belly. Like, "you, get out of here, but you three stay and eat up." So sad...

No, the sister of Sakura who is the mother of Saku (with the white patch of fur). Sakura and Saku are featured on this channel. 🙂
No. "Sakura" is a _really_ common name in Japan. _That_ Sakura, kept by maKo, has never met another otter as far as I know. Certainly never had pups. The Sakura on this channel isn't related and has a tragic backstory.

She did. Her name is Komari (literally: "small Mari") and she ended up being the first of the 4 to open her eyes.
It's very unusual for the runt of a litter to be born first. Usually they come out last.
