2024 update: I no longer use my SONY camera and haven't been using it for over a year. the quality is very unpredictable and can be very grainy. I have tried resetting the settings, messing with the settings and had no luck. Whereas the canon hasn't failed me yet.

*I have been using the Sony handle grip with the added plate for quite some time now (amzn.to/3t8oBI7) and wanted to add that it's one of the best adds on for the SONY imo. It has multiple screw holes in the bottom, allowing you to screw in your tripod further from the battery and that way you are able to access the battery + memory card without having to unscrew the tripod. It also has a cold shoe mount on the bottom allowing you to add on even more external accessories. The only downside is that the screw that secures the base plate to the Sony constantly loosens and needs to be retightened.

You can plug your zv1 micro usb into a charger like for your phone or computer and film off of that when at your house. You can use a large external battery when in the go (when in a pinch)

Love it! I think I’ll stick with my canon! I’m just having trouble with the autofocus while Filming because you can hear the camera focusing while editing
I had someone else mention that as well. There are a few videos online that mention clicking the "ring func" button and setting the focus to AFL (auto focus lock) that way it doesn't continually track you but rather locks the focus.

Can you turn the autofocus off? For example if i vlog & its people in the video with me I dont want to it to try 2 have to focus on everybody at once so can i turn it off? If that makes sense

Oh wow! That overbalancing/toppling when the Sony screen is flipped out was a bit of an oversight, wasn't it? Wow. I'm thinking of going for that Canon. I'm currently using a Sony Handycam (FDR AX43) but I'm spending sooooooo much time every day colour correcting the footage which comes out so flat and grey, plus I'm finding it won't focus lock on my face or other specific things in motion unless it's set to auto, but then it washes out the highlights and has a bit of noise/grain on the darker areas of the image. I'm getting a bit frustrated with it even though I've only had it 5 months.
I also got a Sony and I feel like everyone with canon has much better colors.

The canon mark ii can have an issue with dropped pixels. You can notice in this video at the bottom because you have a black sweater on. As someone with darker skin I had to return a used one for that issue 🥲
That’s exactly why I traded my canon g7x mark iii in because of the pixel issue. I would be recording and during post I would have a dancing blue dot bouncing around my face especially during low light situations.

Hi, I am new to Canon G7X Mark II. However, I am proficient in Sony 100 series and Fujifilm. When I am taking photos with Canon G7X II, the images are not sharp, and the colours are not coming properly. At times in one photo itself, a few places are sharp, and a few places are not. The same goes for colours- some places have proper colours, and some places are too faded.
I tried all manual and automatic modes. Suppose I am doing anything wrong here. I am humbly requesting to help me correct my wrongs.
Or is it because there is something wrong with the lens? I am awaiting your response.
Both are good but the Canon has always been better on colors and that beautiful film type look...same is for this one. Sony is really good but is almost too sharp, not as natural and the audio on the Canon is better for on camera mic.
After getting the Sony Zv-1 I also noticed the battery issue, but unlike Canon (that I also have) you can have the wall charger or an external battery to charge the Sony while filming.
The only issue is that if you want to record to the max abilities, like 4k, and 60fps, it might overheat in 15 minutes and turn off itself. But at regular full HD videos, I had no overheating problems, and been able to record for hours, multiple videos, without turning the camera off.
After seeing a few vids on the Sony and reading, thought I'd share with you what I found out re what you mentioned here. Apparently you can change the heat level so it doesn't shut off as soon from overheating. Also, when you plug in the wall charger you must have a battery in the camera; if you then turn on the camera, the wall charger will power the camera and the charging of the battery stops (until you turn off the phone; then it resumes charging the battery). Cheers.
So is 4k the same as 60fps? What do you classify as “Regular full HD videos” as listed in the Video Settings that will help me be able to record for hours? I really want to keep the camera but I just can’t if I can’t record for at least an hour or an hour and a half.

I have a small channel where I film budgeting content (pen and paper) and am looking for good focus. I’ve been using my iPhone for years but I’m tired of the blurriness here and there. This was literally me!! I recently just got the Sony zv and it was definitely the best decision I ever made!! Def recommend over the gx. They say that canon even tried to replica the Sony zv

Lol the build in flash on canon is a joke, I would prefer a cold shoe mount than an unusable build in flash...with cold shoe mount you can put microphone, led lights and real flash on top of it
@@sooosuss7154 I actually agree with that ^^^ and the cold shoe mount is so helpful, which the canon lacks. And I would even add that the quality of photos is better on the sony than the canon.

Mine arrived today and my next video will be shot with it. I haven't tried the built-in microphone but if anyone wants to know, the Rode Videomic Pro+ works GREAT with this Sony!

Thanks for the review and I'm just wondering if there is really any good valid reason for getting a slightly smaller version of their larger cousins for example the Panasonic gh5 is pretty much the best of vlogin camera you can get for the price and it's only a little bit more expensive is there really a lot of benefit from having the zv1 rather than the gh5 for example?
I’ve never tried the gh5 so I can’t say.
I just went with what a few vloggers on RUclips use and people I know personally.
So I guess it was word of the mouth type of thing. And also personal preference.

Hi! Do you have a video showing your Canon settings? I actually bought it because of the quality in this video (for my purposes- I don’t do product reviews)
I don’t, sorry. I usually keep my setting on auto and let the camera do it’s thing. I’ll adjust the color temp now and then and exposure, but that’s about it. ISO is usually always on auto for me.

Although I have always been a fan of Canon, The Sony was hands down the best in image quality here. I reckon its the lens.... That Tessar stuff was always wonderful.

I usually use the Sony 75% of the time. Mainly bc it has sharper video quality overall.

If you wanted to put a light and a microphone on the Sony could you do that at one time?
Yes you def could. Just need the appropriate mounts
to stop the sony tipping over make sure one of the tripod legs is under the open screen.

I mainly did it bc my Sony battery was almost dead haha. I do think quality wise, focus and customization are much better on Sony but canon is a decent camera for vlogging.

Wow - the audio of the Canon was sooo much better than the Sony.
If you adjust the sound levels you'll find it's as for or better than Canon.

@@patriceking9583 without adjusting the sound levels in an editing software program, the canon is "louder". But if you raise the sound levels for the sony, which is easy to do, the sound quality is pretty good for the Sony. but there is def a diff between the two.
I actually liked the audio on the Sony better. It was more appealing to my ears.

Wow thank you for your very good review of the Sony ZV-1 vs the Canon G7X 2.
You went over the main features of the Sony ZV-1 and quite a few other features and noteworthy reason why you would pick the ZV-1 or the Canon G7X 2.
I have just recently bought the Sony ZV-1.
You're right about the battery life of the Sony batteries is very poor.
Still I like the "showcase" feature (focus on product not you) which is very important and that's the main reason I bought it.
My Sony Alpha A7iii kept hunting for focus and it's too big, heavy and bulking for the mounting bracket.
Other reasons was its compactness, the bigger 1" image sensor, better optics, mic jack, flip screen, HDMI port (I haven't used it yet), and also I believe it's only one video file not split into multiple files.
What are your thoughts on the Canon software?

Also what are your thoughts on Canon colour?
I read Sony has updated their colours.
This is a common theme if you've watched a lot of tech videos.
They keep talking about fabulous Canon colour science.
Having said that Sony highly likely makes Canon, Nikon, and Olympus image sensors.
To what degree is difficult to know.
They say they design and manufacture (Kawasaki factory)the BSI and other types of sensors for their cameras.
Which ones?
I don't know.
Still to some extent Sony is making a percentage of their sensors.

At what price point?
Again difficult to know still it makes me wonder how important colours science is and if that old possibly myth is still relevant or are these opinions just worn out opinions without merit?
To me the Canon colours look cooler.
I'm not sure that's a good thing or a bad thing.
We would really need an unbiased expert to update us on Sony's colour science.
I read that Nikon has the best colour science.
Is it nonsense now or does this opinion actually true?
What are your thoughts on Canon menus compared to Sony?
Sony is meant to have complicated non intuitive menu system.
I'm tempted to buy the Canon as well as my Sony ZV-1 to compare the different platforms or ecosystems.

Is it just me, or is there a night and day difference between the Canon footage vs the Sony..? Sony quality and sound is so much better in this video.
I’ve been using both for quite some time now and the Sony is my go to for quality and focus. Sound is very diff between the two so depends on your preference. And the Sony came out with the zv-e10, which is essentially the same as the Zv-1 but you can interchange the lenses 👏🏼

the Sony. it’s much better quality & faster focus. the sound I’m not crazy about but the quality is better than the Canon, esp in low light.

@@Itskeyaj I know what you mean. The battery life on sony is very short compared to the canon. And if the battery dies while you're recording, you lose the footage :/ I do like the quality and focus of the sony over the canon though. But between the canon II and III, I would go with the III since it has option to add external mic if you ever want to. it doesn't have a mount for the mic, but at least the option to use external mic is there.

Canon wins on the audio side. The Sony ZV-1 is what Sssniperwolf uses. But in the end I got it because it's like half the price of the Canon.

usually i explain it to people this way. we have the sea. if you fetch a cup of sea water, do we have two seas or one sea? we have one sea, some in your cup and some one the floor. one sea, at two locations ie two entities. The Father, Son and Spirit have one essence. one nature. but theyre three entities at different locations. The Father sends the Son and Spirit, the Spirit is no lesser than the Father, since its the Fathers own spirit and same as the Son. the Son and Spirit have the nature of the Father, but perform different roles.

you asked why didnt God reveal the trinity to the people before him. the spirit of God has been mentioned throughout the old testament. are you trying to say, the people of the old testament thought the spirit of God is not of the nature of God? this is very easy to understand. your spirit is of you, you and your spirit are one.
trinity is to explain it to people. i think people prefer to attack the word trinity instead of understanding the concept.

back to your question about the old testament, if you read the first chapter of Genesis, God said, Let us create man in our own image. how would you explain that? is God speaking to non creators and telling them let us create? wouldnt that be wrong? and is anyother creation in heaving having the image of God? so God is speaking to his Spirit and Son. because the Spirit and Son have the same nature as the Father. so God created man in his own image. not in the image of the angels. therefore Let us create man in our image simply signifies hes speaking to entities in his own image that can also create.
so to sumarize the answer to your question about why the jews of the old testament didnt know trinity, because the term trinity is used to explain. even if the term came during Jesus or after Jesus its irrelevant, as long as its used to explain and make it easier for people to understand. if we can understand that humans have spirit and soul and body, and that makes one human. im not sure why no one would pretend not to understand God the all powerful cant have a spirit and son and all have one nature.

I’m not too knowledgeable in that area in terms of being able to help but I did want to add a comment to say that I noticed the canon doesn’t take the best photos in comparison to the Sony, or even the newer iPhone models sometimes. I think it’s best for video blogging.
