There are experienced guitar compressor obsessives who call the Cali76 - in both its forms (there's a transformer version too) - and the SlideRIG Dual Chained Limiting Amplifier, the greatest compressors on the market today. I would count myself among them.
Simon Keats is a renaissance man. A killer guitarist, Simon is also Mr Keats from Keats Audio; consultant and designer for several other serious audio companies, and the brain behind the Cali76 and SlideRIG from Origin Effects. We are all fortunate he's so prolific. To try one of these (let's call them compressors for short) is to love them. I can almost guarantee that.
Simon is a slide-guitar nut as well. He's a big fan of Duane Allman and Lowell George amongst others. In fact, the Cali76 is a tip o' the hat to the UREI 1176 that Lowell George used to use (two of them chained together apparently) along with his early Dumble amp to get 'that' tone and 'that' sustain. The Cali76's attempt to do the same doesn't disappoint. It adds dimension and girth to your tone while also delivering singing sustain. That's my kind of compressor, folks.
You can also buy a 'Transformer' version of the Cali76. It offers several useful features above this standard version and I hope I can show it to you soon. In the meantime, check out the Origin Effects site for more info. My SlideRIG demo will be uploaded to this channel shortly.

This is the new king as far as I'm concerned. I currently use the Mad Professor Forest Green and the Empress, but an 1176 pedal, well if the transformer has been done right, this is the one for this kind of compressor. Seems to be very clean with a low noise floor. If you backed off on the attack at the end there you'd have a killer early AC/DC tone with your rig.
