Your video is great. I’m going to make my grandson one with the trim. He picked out some awesome fabric and green trim. His favorite color. Can’t wait. I’m not seeing more than usual ads. It’s ok!!
Here in 🇬🇧 I have always known these as 'Housewife' style pillowcases. This has always been the most usual type to buy. 'Oxford' pillowcases are made in the same way but cut bigger then have a border top stitched around the closed sides. I watch a lot of American RUclips homemakers and an always amused by the long flappy pillowcases when they make their beds so I hope you become a trend setter.
Sewing is my therapy! Have gone through many tragic times in my life that have knocked me down but sewing is my happy place. No unhappy thoughts in that room…I create constantly in my mind and fabric talks to me when I go to a fabric store. However I don’t need anymore!
Love this. The pillow can't slip out and twist itself away!..will make these for a craft fair. I'm thinking flannel: nice and cozy, especially in cold weather.
You are doing a great job live. Its real. You need not apologize. I completely understood the directions even when you corrected yourself. You're just like being with a fun friend.
My mom started me sewing at 5 years. I'm now 81 and still sew. Made most of my dresses in high school, also any formal gowns, and in the 1970s had a job where I had to wear formal attire and made all of these gowns as well. Also made most of the clothes for my 3 daughters.
Great tutorial! I have a couple of pillow slips that came with a set of sheets. I hated them. I was constantly having to stuff the end of my pillow back in. It only had a 3 or 4" fold. Now I know. Love the burrito method thrown in.
Hi Tracy! I love all your tutorials and feel like you are my new best friend! You explain things in a way that someone like me with no experience at quilting and little sewing knowledge can understand. I can't wait to try and make "hotel" pillowcases! Thank you! 😊❤
I just love watching your videos. I learn so much as I am a fairly new sewist. 😊 We love seeing you being real and having the same struggles we all do. 💟
Last time I was at my Moms she let me take whatever I wanted. I had to buy a new suitcase to fly home. I have never made a pillowcase but am interested in adding the extra to my hubs cases cuz he must be fighting some kinda war his pillows come out all the time. Cracks me up. Thanks for sharing today.
@@TheSewingChannel no, I'm sorry; I purchased from my local dealer who provides me such great service. Would've felt like I was cheating on them if I went somewhere else 😞
Thanks for the video, all your videos inspire me!! When I make this I plan to use the trim on both sides, not just the front, in case the pillow is flipped over it will still look extra cute.
Tracy! Oh my goodness! You’re not going to believe this! Last night I was trying to buy some fabric online for pillowcases. That reminded me I have a lot of other fabric I bought for pillowcases. I need to make them. Since I cdn’t sleep, I was laying there in the middle of the night, thinking’s about how I cd do this. I wanted to add the pocket flap, like you did before. But I also wanted to hide the seam, by the pocket flap. I was trying to picture it out in my head. I knew I’d have to fold the flap over somehow, but just cdn’t picture it. I told myself I’d have to look up your old video and see if I cd figure it out by watching you work. I cdn’t believe it when I opened RUclips, this evening, and lo and behold, there was your video!!! I’d missed the live but was able to watch it. I cdn’t believe it! What are the chances of that??? Not only did you do a pillowcase tutorial, but you also figured out and showed how to hide the seam!!! 😮😳😃😁😍🥰
Quick Geography Great Britain includes England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland. Europe includes Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France, Austria, etc. Scandinavian countries include Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Greenland, Norway, Greenland, etc. Google has complete lists.
Hi there, I’m new here but I’ve been watching your videos and I Love them!!! You are so talented and are a great teacher too! I’m making a puff quilt right now for my first granddaughter who is due in August! Keep the videos coming!!!
I fascinated that you call them hotel pillowcases! I am English born but live in Australia 🇦🇺 and have only ever known the cases you are describing. Just goes to show apples aren’t always apples! Ha ha. Loved this tutorial though, I missed the live but you did fine. You did you! We love your bubbly character and the different things you share with us ❤❤❤❤❤
PS: I have some sheet sets that I bought from pottery barn and a few others that have the pocket flap, but most store bought ones I have don’t have the flap. The ones that do have the flap also have the hems extending 4-5” beyond the pocket flap. I like the look of that, where the pocket is more on the inside. On the outside, it looks like a regular pillowcase, except that the flap hides the pillow from view. Does that make sense? I’m trying to figure out how to do that. Usually, in the past when I made them, there was no pocket flap. But lately I’ve had some trouble keeping the pillows inside, plus I just like the finished look with the flap hiding the pillow. I appreciate being able to see how you did yours. I did make some a few years back to go with my sleeping bag, which I have not used (it’s for emergencies, in case the power goes out) and I put flaps in those. I don’t remember how I did those but they were flannel and ended up a little snug. Anyway, my best method for designing things is to measure my pillows and draw it out on paper, adding my measurements for each part. I think I will try that, and see what I come up with. TFS 🩷
I love this video, only thing I can’t follow along too good. Can you send the directions you were reading from…that might help me.. I just thought that might be easy.
Love your channel! Was watching your video on your free motion quilting journey. You mentioned what thread you used but I was tired and didn’t get the name. Please could you let me know the name of the thread you use for fm quilting? Thank you. ❤❤❤❤
Same happened to me. I brought all the fabric home more than a year ago. I put it in my living room which is now unusable. A year ago! I don’t have any place to move it to so there it sits. I have to sew faster.
People do not understand the cost of these cases, I made some to sell, eighteen dollars each! Fabric Is about twelve dollars a yard plus the labor to make them! Just saying, these fabrics are good quality. 😃👍❤️😎😳
Im sorry to say this, but I got a little confused watching the video. Could you please do a new video for us that isn't live for some of us newbes that are new to this extra flap technique? Otherwise, I loved this amazing technique. Thank you.
I think the pillowcase wd look better if the accent color would actually cover the inside flap more, so Mayb the extra flap cd be placed further inside the case so it wdnt show. Also I like ur videos very much, but not so much live ones. But practice makes perfect.
I love your common sense tutorials. I am 77 and have sewn everything . I taught granddaughter to sew pillow cases without flap. She had a ball. Good to see the French seams
Hi my name is Brenda, love your show ❤❤
I missed the livestream sis!!👀Sick with a cold. I do love the hotel pillowcases. I’m fussy about my sheets and pillowcases😂❤
Awe...praying you get better❤️
@@TheSewingChannel Thanks sis💓
Hi Tracy! For the most part ill be watching your lives after the fact!
I hope you have a beautiful day!

I am so glad your mother gifted you a sewing machine...because, Baby, Look at you now!!! Thank you!!!💞
I would have never thought sewing would become my entire being LOL🤣 Crazy story for sure...but here we are❤️
Hi Tracy I wanted to let you know I am a former hairdresser I love that color wheel quilt that you have made❤so I truly appreciate that quilt🎉😊😊😊
Love this. The pillow can't slip out and twist itself away!..will make these for a craft fair. I'm thinking flannel: nice and cozy, especially in cold weather.
I have loads of lace. A wide lace cuff could be beautiful, especially if ribbon is threaded thru the lace!
Think I'll make a small pillow to show how it works at a craft fair. Easy to take along instead of lugging a large pillow.
You are doing a great job live. Its real. You need not apologize. I completely understood the directions even when you corrected yourself. You're just like being with a fun friend.

I love your videos because you explain things so beginners can understand. Thanks !
Your mom was inspired to gift you a machine. Now I'd bet sewing fills you and gives you comfort. I know it does that for me.
Great tutorial! I have a couple of pillow slips that came with a set of sheets. I hated them. I was constantly having to stuff the end of my pillow back in. It only had a 3 or 4" fold. Now I know. Love the burrito method thrown in.
I played with my dolls too! I began sewing cutting out my Barbie clothes from my mom’s scraps without a pattern.
The ads aren’t your problem RUclips shows ads constantly if they don’t want to see the ads they will have to pay monthly 😊
Hi in Australia they all have the flap but I love making for the grandkids ❤
Ive been making the burrito pillowcases for Sew Yeah Quiltings service project. A good way to use some of my stash. It's been fun too.
Hi Tracy! I love all your tutorials and feel like you are my new best friend! You explain things in a way that someone like me with no experience at quilting and little sewing knowledge can understand. I can't wait to try and make "hotel" pillowcases! Thank you! 😊❤
Tracy you do a wonderful job on videos! I watch you all the time and I miss you going to Goodwill and shopping 😂
Is there a video that demonstrates changing a regular pillow case to this improved design ?
I don't mind the ads. I really like the added fold over for the inside cuff. It really gives a more finished look. Thanks for sharing.
It was one teacher I know used to teach us to sewing pillows. She was a good teacher.
Love it so much 💕❤ can't wait to make one for my great granddaughter take care
This is called a housewife pillowcase. Check out the Oxford pillowcase and try and tackle that one 🎉
What 3 fabric ends did you sew together?
I just love watching your videos. I learn so much as I am a fairly new sewist. 😊

Awesome you make it so easy and fun ❤️❤️🙏
I think that in the UK we call them housewife pillow cases xx
Hi Tracy love your videos
My parents used to have a set of sheats they bought at the store that pillow cases were like this, I don't know when they bought them.

I love this video, only thing I can’t follow along too good. Can you send the directions you were reading from…that might help me.. I just thought that might be easy.
I could really use pillow cases like that. My pillows slide out all the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
Thanks for sharing this awesome 😊
Thank you, 😊
What a great idea, but I wish you were using fabric with a design so it would be easier to see front and back.
Love your channel! Was watching your video on your free motion quilting journey. You mentioned what thread you used but I was tired and didn’t get the name. Please could you let me know the name of the thread you use for fm quilting? Thank you.

The thread I use in my juki is Omni❤️

Juki Junkies is the best!
Awesome!!!!!
If you still have the cut up vintage sheets why not do a patchwork vintage sheet flap pillow case tutorial?
People do not understand the cost of these cases, I made some to sell, eighteen dollars each! Fabric Is about twelve dollars a yard plus the labor to make them! Just saying, these fabrics are good quality. 😃👍❤️😎😳
Hi Tracy
I like your video, but I don't watch on my phone so the "pinching" topic is really frustrating..
💕💕
Hello from Lindsay Ont. Canada
Im sorry to say this, but I got a little confused watching the video. Could you please do a new video for us that isn't live for some of us newbes that are new to this extra flap technique? Otherwise, I loved this amazing technique. Thank you.
That's how I have felt over the past few projects.😢 I love all of Tracy videos, it's my dumb but that has adhd
I think the pillowcase wd look better if the accent color would actually cover the inside flap more, so Mayb the extra flap cd be placed further inside the case so it wdnt show.
Also I like ur videos very much, but not so much live ones. But practice makes perfect.

desperately trying to find a simple way to make a pillow case for a quilt.

There is a light reflecting across your face and we are 4 ft too far back. I see your front yard
I love your common sense tutorials. I am 77 and have sewn everything . I taught granddaughter to sew pillow cases without flap. She had a ball. Good to see the French seams
