The “third verse” is actually called a bridge, and she’s known for having the best bridges.
I agree! Her bridge is kind of like an extension of the original pre chorus. It’s nice!
@@rachelsandlermusic This song is a bit unusual though because although she has a lot of other songs with pre-choruses, on those other songs she sings the pre-chorus before both the first and second chorus. On Cornelia Street she only does the pre-chorus before the second chorus.

Seanachie's Court She’s not just strumming. She adds little nuances that keep the audience engaged. She’s great with incorporating dynamics into her playing and her playing is always flawless. You also have to take into consideration the pressure of performing in front of an audience that large with only your voice and guitar. She has nothing else to fall back on if she makes the slightest mistake.
Seanachie's Court check out her performance of death by a thousand cuts acoustic on NPR tiny desk. Her plucking is amazing and the entire thing is just beautiful and truly shows how experienced and good she is at playing the guitar.
@@seanachiescourt6659 Her strumming here it´s awesome, the dynamic that goes along with the feeling of the song. Most singer-songwriters are at a lower level than this. And, OBVIOUSLY, nobody says anything. Try to write a great lyric and sing it with confidence and connection to an audience while being subtle with your strumming. Comments like this come from people who clearly understand nothing. And by the way, she didn´t even need it. She can put a guitarist there and just sing, It´s her song and her show so...
The little break is in the studio version too!! I'm so happy you said it, Taylor's voice always sounds so healthy to me. Like I've never seen a live performance of her when she looks like straining or having a bad time doing some notes, and never heard a song and thought 'there's no way she is hitting these ones easily live', which happens a lot of times with artists that have these BIG AMAZING high and long notes in recording but you never hear live. I mean the girl NEVER canceled a show in her entire life. That's fucking crazy it's 13 years of touring and performing non-stop

Taylor strikes me as someone who knows how to work well with the range she's got. Idk the technical terms for it but she seems to know what her voice can and can't do (as you would hope for a singer lol)
She's super smart and thinks critically about the long-term. She doesn't push herself too far, and subsequently has never had to cancel a show due to sickness or a need for vocal rest.
Her range is actually good. The range she has shown so far is A2 (Cruel Summer) to D6/E6 (when making this is why we can’t have nice thing) and she can phrase when hitting a G5 (dancing with our hands tied). But she plays it safe usually.
Yep. It's obvious that since 1989 and Rep era, she's been exploring her vocal range and has started belting more. Her falsettos and agility improved in Lover, and her lower range became even more refined, stable and bombastic in folklore and evermore. You can see her vocal evolution from debut up 'till now. Yes, she's usually playing safe on her vocals (especially when live, she rarely does higher note changes) because she knows her limitations, but she's always ready to deliver when it's time. Don't Blame Me girl, I'm looking at you 😂

Apparently Taylor's grandmother was an opera singer. When one listens to the teenage Taylor in her debut album and then listen to how her voice matures as she matures in the seven albums since, one has to wonder where her voice will plateau. After all, she's only thirty.
I love how you go in depths.
She goes in to chest voice to actually scream the lyric "how the city screams your name" and then on the same part of the next verse. Very expressive, not really a fan but i listen to this song everday, her songs stripped down to acoustics the way she writes them are the way i like them, i bet she doesnt do the studio produced versions, those are the popular choices her producers make to get her high rankings on charts but i dont like her album versions...
You should check out folklore and evermore. Both albums are very stripped back!

Yeah, I think the audience kept singing at that part because the album hadn't been out very long at this point so they might not have had it down to a T yet
I don't think she was giving herself a break in the chorus after the bridge. It's supposed to be that way.

Great analysis -but you left out Taylor is a one octave singer who still has trouble staying on pitch in her sweet (but very thin & weak) spot. Tell the truth - don't suck up to Taylors fans. There are a dozen girls in every high school in American that can sing better than Taylor Swift.
Taylor isn't a one octave singer what- lmao, her studio range is A2-G5-A5 (Cruel Summer, DWOTH and So It Goes/Getaway Car respectively), and her live is B2/C3-F5(G5)-D6. So, you're definitely wrong about that.
However, I do agree with the latter part. Taylor still suffers with staying on pitch sometimes since she isn't really using any stable technique (if she even has one), but she now has impressive vocal control/stability and has shown its growth throughout the years, especially Lover era going forward. We can see that she's more comfortable in an acoustic setting, since her tone is light, airy, and colorful and will shine more that way. Also, she tends to go pitchy in big shows epecially during her high notes. Literally every Ready For It? high note is pitchy, shaky, and unstable (every attempt I've seen so far at least lol). Her London Boy high-ish note was better on the Live Lounge performancr than in Capitol's performance.
The last part though 💀👄💀, shady lol
