Splendid. Older gymnastics is far more beautiful to me. All the routines and moves look the same now. Also, I loved the simplicity of the leotards - you could just focus on the beautiful gymnastics. Mukhina was so incredible.

Yelena you were an angel and contributed so much to the sport. I wonder what happened to that coach, not her coach, the one that pushed her into trying that skill (even though she was very tired and recovering from an injury), that ultimately made her a quadriplegic.
Nothing happened at that moment. They all tried to hide the truth, how she injured herself. No one gave a damn on her life. If she couldn't get medals....let it be. Shame!
Why did gimnastics use to look like dancing... They seem to do it effortlessly... Nowadays the gymnasts seem much more strained. Mind you, I know the sport is hard as war and causes a lot of strain... But I rarely see routines this beautiful these days. Even among the best teams and the gold medallists.
Well it is called artistic gymnastics. They are supposed to be but modern gymnastics don’t get the graceful and artistic part of the sport. It kinda makes me sad gymnast don’t know how to make their floor routines flow
Now it’s all about who can outdo each other with circus tricks. I don’t care for bb as well. BB has lost the grace also. Basically, it is becoming men’s with music.
The gymnasts then did an hour of ballet dancing every day, which made them able to perform gracefully as well as powerfully. The girls were almost like fairies, tiny, beautiful and seemingly weightless - their powers pure magic. Just wonderful!
What is the name of that beautiful tumble where her legs elegantly part at the end of her flip? It is so beautiful and you see nothing like it in present times. For me, tumbling was more beautiful then.
If you use your hands on the floor that's an Arabian front handspring step-out, so I guess this would be like an aerial-Arabian front handspring (I'm just making up the term, don't know if it has a name of its own...). I've seen other gymnasts doing that before, like in the early 70s

Her story makes me mad and sad, she begged to stop, she begged them to not remove her cast, she new that T.S was too much for her and her heart was shattered. So unfair, she had no choice

King Hill it was her coach pushing her so much. He died in Italy of lung cancer shortly after her death
