After watching the first version, I decided not to upload it - my attention was withdrawn from the beautiful videos and I tried to read all the titles and years.... but I want people to witness how beautiful Elena Shoushounova was and what a great gymnast she was. @@Jajadore I was so shocked when I read the news... I called my brother immediately and we both couldn't believe it. Although he was more a Silivas fan (he had to be, since we divided the nations when we were young.... but that's another story) he was also very fond of Elena.... she didn't even reach her 50th birthday... that is so sad.
@@Jajadore ... and yes.... she had her ups and downs, but she proved, that she had not a weak event, like most gymnasts have.... some don't like the Balance Beam, some are so bad at Floor (especially the choreography), Uneven Bars is such a hard apparatus and some girls are bad at Horse Vault (like Daniela....), but Elena had so difficult routines on each event and won medals at every apparatus she touched... such a talented gymnast. 😊💚😀💜😏💛
Sinto falta nada. Muitas ginastas ficaram paralíticas ou morreram por conta do risco das acrobacias perigosíssimas que faziam para atingir o nível da perfeição exigido por seus técnicos. Porém deixaram um grande legado como excelentes atletas coisa que não vemos atualmente.
Acho q as atletas ginastas do passado eram brilhantemente melhores q as atuais... c seus saltos e movimentos espetaculares. Atualmente parecem ser atletas comuns.

Thank you so much... I am so glad, that she was the first gymnast that made a huge impact on me in 1985 and that I had the chance to watch her from afar.... She was such a great gymnast. I was a gymnast before, but watching her made me strive for the better. She will always be in my heart! I am happy, that there are so many other fans all around the world, who appreciate also her talent.
Ces jeunes filles prenaient des traitements pour retarder leur puberté. Les gymnastes avaient entre 14 et 15 ans et avaient une morphologie de fillettes de 10 à 11 ans.Ainsi, leur entraîneur pouvait exploiter au maximum leurs prouesses et les dressait comme des pouliches!!! Bien sur, cela ne diminue en aucun cas leur niveau de gymnastes.D'autres étaient affamées et battues quand leur pesée mecontentait ces abrutis de coach!!!😢😢😢😢
Ces traitements hormonaux leur étaient administrés malgré et elles et sans qu'elles soient informées. Quel gachis humain de jeunes vies pour la renommée du club ou de la fédération de gymnastique!!!!

Gone too soon. So sad. The gymnasts of the 70's 80's and 90's had grace and artistry. They also perfected their movements and landed their jumps with precision. Now we see muscly gymnasts and it is all about power and the number of tumbles you can fit in. As dynamic as Simone Biles is, I don't see the straight legs and pointed feet that these balletic gymnasts had. She also puts so much power into her tumbling that she doesn't land her jumps securely at times. She often puts her foot out of the zone in the floor exercises and hops on her vaults. You remember the routines of the Russians and Romanians who combined daring with grace from decades ago but I don't think we will remember the routines of today's gymnasts in years to come.

I wish the ones in charge would turn back the wheels of time, to make the sport great again. But it won't happen. The magic in modern Gymnastics is gone. It is all about collecting points on technical perfect equipment. They should call it Acrobatic Gymnastics. I am glad, we have the chance in watching the old routines of long gone stars, who will never be forgotten in the golden era of Artistic Gymnastics.

Just absolutely loved her. Brilliant choreography, class, technically perfect and pure elegance with power. Back then the vault had no spring in it, the floor was nowhere near as sprung as now, landing areas were different, bars were thicker and closer together. Gymnastics now is all power, a lot of the elegance has gone and many routines are so very similar.
So sweet. Thank you. I loved Elena so much and followed her competitive career throughout the years. It is a great comfort to me, that there are so many people watching this and remember her with love. 🥰
I remember when I read the terrible news on the internet. I called my brother and told him about it. We both couldn't believe it. Now he is gone also... a little over 4 years now... he left this realm with only 44. I miss Elena, but I miss my little brother too. He was also a fan of Artistic Gymnastics as we knew it in the 80's We divided the nations... while I was cheering for the USSR he was cheering for Romania - but honestly - we both loved every gymnast from both countries.
True.... But somehow the beauty of the sport vanished during the last couple of years (probably even decades) That's why I am admiring these gymnasts from the past so much, when Artistic Gymnastics was still artistic.
I was so shocked, when I heard from her sudden death. She is really my most favorite gymnast of all times. I like quite a few, but Elena has a special place in my heart. Did you see the Video I made for the Olympic All Around battle between her and Daniela Silivas?
The fact that she did a Thomas salto flawlessly in her floor ex! You almost never see footage of that treacherous stunt (it was what led to the end of poor Elena Muchina's gymnastics career...and LIFE!). R.I.P. to BOTH fearless Elenas❤😢
When I was 20, I deemed 50 is quite old... now that I am 52 I have a different view on things. It was tragic, that she died from complications of pneumonia. The good thing is, that there are so many wonderful people around, remembering her for achievements in her sport and celebrating her life after all.

She opened the door to a new level of artistic gymnastics.... and I was really a fanboy of her.... I was joyful when she won, and saddened when she lost - but always thankful and glad, that she was there 💚
She really had a hard time. I read, that she pled for a short break after the Olympics Games to recover a little bit, but her request was denied by her coaches - so she retired completely from the sport. 😔

It was so sad to see her go... she will be remembered with love I am sure. She had so many fans who adored her work and achievements in the sport of Artistic Gymnastics. Spiritually I think, her journey is not over.... she has just returned home.... Love and Light on her way! 💙
I was devastated when I heard about her demise in 2018. My brother and I really adored her. She will always be my most favorite gymnast in the world! No one can ever replace her.
She was really a darling. I am so sad she had to leave so early from this world, but I am also sure - that her soul returned home.... everything is alright.
You know... I listen to this song (and other sad songs) quite often lately. I lost my little brother last year. He was only 44 and I am still suffering from the loss. People tell me, things will get better.... but that's not true. I miss him so bad...

I loved watching her. I was back then drawn between Shevchenko and Shoushounova. I did get to see Khorkina on the bars. I think what struck me the most is both her charge/run up at the vault made her look like she was going to run into and tackle it. and the punch backs and the fx Straddle jump to land in front lying support (Schuschunova); also with 1/2 turn (180°) Hop with 1/1 turn (360°) to straddle and land in prone position. those moves seem to have vanished to a formula anymore.
I am such a huge fan of her... and it is funny that you mentioned the way she was running up to the Horse Vault. This reminded me of my younger years when I was also training in a gymnastics club. After seeing her on the TV in 1985 I switched my running up and also used my arms before touching the Horse the way she did.... and my coach was freaking out. I did not do a Yurtchenko, since it was not really practiced by guys in the midst 80's and he said... what is this flailing good for? I stuck to it - I admired her so much and I loved how her arms moved before doing the round-off (on Vault or Floor). I've copied and adapted it at once. 😍🥰😎

I remember when I read the terrible news on the internet. I called my brother and told him about it. We both couldn't believe it.
Now he is gone also... a little over 4 years now... he left this realm with only 44. I miss Elena, but I miss my little brother too.
He was also a fan of Artistic Gymnastics as we knew it in the 80's
We divided the nations... while I was cheering for the USSR he was cheering for Romania - but honestly - we both loved every gymnast from both countries.

The fact that she did a Thomas salto flawlessly in her floor ex! You almost never see footage of that treacherous stunt (it was what led to the end of poor Elena Muchina's gymnastics career...and LIFE!). R.I.P. to BOTH fearless Elenas❤😢

When I was 20, I deemed 50 is quite old... now that I am 52 I have a different view on things.
It was tragic, that she died from complications of pneumonia.
The good thing is, that there are so many wonderful people around, remembering her for achievements in her sport and celebrating her life after all.
This is giving me old-school gymternet vibes…and I LOVE IT! 😍💕❤️ Also, did know she was your favorite gymnast. She’s definitely one of my favorites; I hope she knows she gave “power” gymnasts/gymnastics a great name and blended it well with (Soviet) artistry! 💖 RIP to the great Elena Shushunova!
She opened the door to a new level of artistic gymnastics.... and I was really a fanboy of her....
I was joyful when she won, and saddened when she lost - but always thankful and glad, that she was there 💚

She really had a hard time. I read, that she pled for a short break after the Olympics Games to recover a little bit, but her request was denied by her coaches - so she retired completely from the sport. 😔

You know... I listen to this song (and other sad songs) quite often lately. I lost my little brother last year. He was only 44 and I am still suffering from the loss. People tell me, things will get better.... but that's not true. I miss him so bad...

I loved watching her. I was back then drawn between Shevchenko and Shoushounova. I did get to see Khorkina on the bars. I think what struck me the most is both her charge/run up at the vault made her look like she was going to run into and tackle it. and the punch backs and the fx Straddle jump to land in front lying support (Schuschunova); also with 1/2 turn (180°) Hop with 1/1 turn (360°) to straddle and land in prone position. those moves seem to have vanished to a formula anymore.
I am such a huge fan of her... and it is funny that you mentioned the way she was running up to the Horse Vault. This reminded me of my younger years when I was also training in a gymnastics club.
After seeing her on the TV in 1985 I switched my running up and also used my arms before touching the Horse the way she did.... and my coach was freaking out.
I did not do a Yurtchenko, since it was not really practiced by guys in the midst 80's and he said... what is this flailing good for? I stuck to it - I admired her so much and I loved how her arms moved before doing the round-off (on Vault or Floor).

Não sinto falta. Muitas ginastas ficaram paralíticas ou morreram por conta do risco das acrobacias perigosíssimas que faziam para atingir o nível da perfeição exigido por seus técnicos. Porém deixaram um grande legado como excelentes atletas coisa que não vemos atualmente.
